Pastor's Letter September 2015

Our 20th anniversary year has been a tremendous year of activity for our congregation. What is most important, is that all that ACTIVITY has led to PRODUCTIVITY. We have had a great year of seeing people saved, baptized, discipled, and added to the church. Our recent New Family Fellowship had nearly 100 people who have become new members, or are praying about where the Lord would have them belong. We have very strong momentum going into the fall months, with a lot of potential growth in the next quarter. September brings the start of our Sunday School year, and we announced on August 16th that several changes would be taking place this fall. You can find all of that information on page 2 of this newsletter. Sunday School is the biggest ministry of our church, with over 650 people participating each week. It is our most structured form of Bible teaching and discipleship, and provides a wonderful opportunity for fellowship and learning. The classes are designed for various age groups and stages of life. For the adults, there are classes for married couples, ladies’ classes, a men’s class, and a general class for any adults regardless of marriage status or age. There is also a class for single men and women under age 25, as well as our teen department, and graded classes for our children. I strongly encourage you to attend the class that is designed for you, and I know that you will find a warm and welcoming class where you can deepen your study of God’s word. We also announced on August 16th a couple of staff transitions. Bryson Thompson, who is training in ministry to start a church in the future, will become the teacher of our Homebuilder’s class.

This class is now planned for young married couples up to age 34. This opportunity will help Bryson in his all-around preparation for pastoring, as he will gain valuable experience in ministering to married couples and families. Ben Miller, who has been involved in some way with our teens for over 10 years, will be moving into the College & Career ministry. He and his wife, Grace, have done a wonderful job with our teenagers, but he also will be growing into a new role as he ministers to our young single adults. Many of the current college kids are very familiar with Ben, and those currently in the youth department will get to be with him again when they graduate from high school. To replace Ben in the youth department, Aaron Faucett and his wife, Amber, will be stepping up to lead that group. He has been serving in the children’s department for the last year, but is looking forward to the challenges and opportunities that exist in the youth ministry. With two teens of his own, and great involvement in our local schools, Aaron will have a strong start to his new position. Please pray for all of these men and their families as they begin their new duties and responsibilities. We have a great team working here, and we are fortunate that the Lord has provided such a strong group of His servants to be on our church staff. Looking forward to a great September!
