Pastor's Letter September 2014

We have had a great Summer at BBC, and as we enter into our Fall programs, I am excited about the opportunities ahead. A major change takes place with “No Excuses Sunday”, on September 14th. That is the morning that our schedule returns to Sunday School at 9:15 AM, and morning worship at 10:30 AM. This was our schedule for many years, and we believe that returning to these later times will help those who live far from the church, and those families with young children who struggle to make it to Sunday School at 8:45 AM. We also know that our visitor count was higher with the 10:30 AM service than it has been at 10:00 AM. There are always pros and cons with changes, but I believe these changes will benefit us in the long term. These new times will also allow us to have an early service on special occasions, if we should ever need to. After several months of filling in our staff with part-time help, we will once again be fully staffed, as Bryan Coleman and Aaron Faucett move from part-time to full-time positions. Bryan will be taking over our education and teaching department, and Aaron is serving as our Children’s Pastor. These men will strengthen our ministry staff, and we are happy to have them serving with us. AWANA has begun for the new school year, and our adult Bible classes, called Christian Life University, will begin September 10th. You can still sign up for these

Wednesday night Bible studies, and you can read more about them in this letter. This month we will host our “Fall Family Day” on Sunday, September 28th. This event is designed for our church families, but also for those families you may know that don’t have a church home. It is an “in-house” event that last year drew over 1200 people. We will have a picnic lunch after morning worship, games for the kids, pony rides, a cornhole tournament, and more. Special guests this year will be the Bontrager Family Singers, at both the 10:30 AM service, and a 2:00 PM concert. Our Great Commission nights return this month, as well as Senior Saints Luncheon; “See you at the pole” for our teens; our Sunday night “Kid’s Praise” classes; and much more. Our choir will be recording their second CD project titled “We Will Remember”, this month as well. This CD is being produced in celebration of our 20th anniversary in 2015. We also want to give you an early notice about our church family photographs which will be offered in October. These pictures will be used in our 20th Anniversary yearbook, to be ready by May of 2015. So much going on! Keep praying for our church, for our staff families, our missionaries, and for BBC to continue to be BLESSED of the Lord, and USED by the Lord in these latter days.
