“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of do-ing, but let us encourage one another—and all the
more as you see the Day approaching.” - Hebrews 10:24,25
You may know what a huge difference a little encouragement makes. When your burdens seem especially heavy, when the future looks bleak, when the darkness seems overwhelming . . . just a little encouragement can change the entire horizon.
Most all of us have been there. I hope that you have also experienced the blessing of encourage-ment from a friend, family member, church friend, etc.
I just got off the phone with a new pastor-friend who is hurting so bad you can’t help but notice. He is lacking the normal drive I have seen in him. His voice is weaker. He looks as if he is worn out. I know he is not sleeping well.
We talked for about half an hour where I reminded him of the promises of God and I was able to tell him with a sense of surety that there will be better days ahead. There will, again, be days of laughter and joy.
I was able to be so sure because I was once in his shoes. I, too, needed to be reminded of God’s
promises. I had a friend who encouraged me and prayed with me. I don’t know how I would have survived without that critical, timely encourage-ment. Even a little hope can entirely change one’s perspective.
I’m sure that everyone who reads this can think of a difficult time of life when they needed encourage-ment. Have you ever thought that God allowed you to go through such things so that you would be able to relate-to and help another who is hurting in a similar way? I can see God’s fingerprints all over that kind of plan.
These are troubling days and the times are dark. People all around us are hurting in many different ways. Can you think of any opportunity that God has put in front of you to lift up another? I’m sure you can. God’s plan is that we support and encourage each other, especially as we see the Last Day approaching. Pray that He opens your eyes to see others in need and then that He will give you the words to help.
It is God alone who can give us a fresh start, a new beginning, with the promise of His abiding presence and help. Let’s remind each other of that wonderful fact. After all, we’re in this together!

Joyful F a ith circl e SUBMITTED BY KLEONE BRANN
Joyful Faith Circle met on Wednesday, September. 2lst.
Lunch was served and our Bible Study continued with
the Book of Esther.
Last month we learned how the evil Haman was
hanged and Queen Esther was given the estate of
Haman. Esther then appointed Mordecai to be over
Haman’s Estate. King Xerxes was pleased with
Mordecai and appointed him second in command to
the king. An earlier decree from Haman doomed the
Jewish people in the Persian Kingdom to be killed on
a certain day that had been drawn by lot. Since any
decree signed by the king could not be revoked,
Queen Esther again appealed to King Xerxes to have a
new order be written to overrule the original one that
would destroy the Jews in the King’s province. The
king agreed and presented his signet ring to Mordecai
which would seal any order written. The king told
Mordecai to write any order he wanted in the king’s
name and it would be honored. The decree granted
the Jews in every city and province the right to
assemble and protect themselves, to destroy, kill and
annihilate any armed forces of any nationality that
might attack them and their women and children, and
to plunder (steal) the property of their enemies. These
orders were written in the script and language of each
province and people so it was clearly understood.
When this edict came out, in every city and province
the Jewish people celebrated with joy and happiness.
Many people from other nationalities became Jews
because of the fear of the Jews, as they saw the power
of Mordecai and how he was helping the Jewish
people. The day this edict was to take place was the
thirteenth day of the twelfth month, the month of
Adar.
Next month we will study how this decree was
executed and even more reversals that occurred since
the first lesson in Book of Esther.

The Men’s Club welcomes ALL men to our monthly breakfast and events. Breakfast meetings are informal
gatherings during which we share some food and often some form of service to our church community or an
informative lecture on a topic of interest (e.g. fish habitat, etc.).
O u r M i s s i on : To support Christ Lutheran Church and School and its members through service and faith based activities
while enjoying the camaraderie of friendship. To build our faith and knowledge of God the Father, God the
Son and God the Holy Spirit along with creating fellowship with our families and each other by serving and
spreading the Word of God to our community.
Last month: Breakfast Meeting, September 10, 2016 - Pastor Homp gave a brief meditation from 1 John 1:9, which
reminds us that God is faithful to forgive and to cleanse us from all our sin. Jesus’ message is a call to repent
and believe; repentance means desiring to surrender sins (sinful practices) to the life-changing ministry of the
Holy Spirit.

Is God calling you to use the gifts
He has given you for His
purposes?
We have a continuing need for
volunteers for home visitations,
for ushers and involvement with
board of Deacons. Or perhaps
there is something else you'd like
to help with. God gifts the Church
through its members – even you!

Fall Clean Up
But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with
one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sins. If
we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in
us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. - 1 John 1:7-9

I will make you into a great nation; I will
bless you. I will make your name great. You
will be a blessing to others. - Genesis 12:2
God was pleased Abraham believed His
promises. God blessed Abraham because of
his faith. God promised Abraham a big family
and lots of land. When God told Abram to
pack all he had and go to a new land,
Abram obeyed!
Similarly, when God told Noah to build an ark,
he did it. Noah did not ask questions;
he just trusted God.
Sometimes it is easy to understand God’s ways
and God’s plans. Sometimes it is not so easy.
Either way, know that God loves and cares and
saves! Trust God’s plan and His timing.
(1st thru 5th)
Memory Verses “For I know the plans I have for
you,” declares the LORD, “plans
to prosper you and not to harm
you, plans to give you
hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11
Sometimes you have to take a chance. Consider Esther,
a Jew who was made Queen of Persia. A wicked man
named Haman plans terrible evil upon God’s people.
Will Esther risk her life to confront the king,
and save the Jewish nation?
1st thru 5th Grade Lesson Activities:
• God has Plans for You (arts/crafts)
• Esther (cinema presentation)
• Esther (dramatic performance)
• Power of God (science)
• Zonk (game to review Esther)
Esther’s faith in God, and prayer for guidance allowed
her strength and courage to step up,
trusting God was in control.
We should ask for God’s help and direction, too.
Sometimes your action makes all the
difference in the world!
Faith does not make things easy;
it makes them possible. - Luke 1:37
