FAITH IN ACTION

Protect Life Crusaders PRAY – INFORM—ACT Next Meeting– June 25th, 5:00PM, UH

CLARK COUNTY RIGHT TO LIFE NEWS: We remember the over 60 million babies aborted since US Su-preme Court on January 22, 1973 overturned the laws of every state to create a new constitutional right to abortion anytime before birth. The Court (Roe v Wade) gave States the right to regulate abortion after 12 weeks for the mother's health/safety and prohibit abortion after 24 weeks unless the mother's life/health was at stake. The same day the Court (Doe v Bolton) defined health to include social/personal inconvenience. We remember their parents who experi-ence post-abortion grieving and remorse. Most felt they had no other choice, never saw their baby on sonogram or heard their ba-by's heartbeat. They knew nothing of the local pregnancy resources available to help them face the difficulties which prompted their considering abortion. And so we act to offer local pregnancy re-source information to abortion minded customers visiting Planned Parenthood abortion center. Our local 40 Days for Life campaign of prayer, fasting and peaceful outreach on March 6-April 14 wit-nessed 748 babies saved from abortion world-wide. Next campaign begins in September. DID YOU KNOW By James Jones, ParishionerN RIGHTS

Baby Saybie came into the world December 2018, weighing in at 8 ounces, just 23 weeks after gesta-tion. About the size of a small ap-ple at her birth, Baby Saybie fit comfortably in the hand of the at-tending care providers. Her father said that they expected to have only

an hour or so with their tiny daughter before she passed away. “But,” her mother reported, "that hour turned into two hours, which turned into a day, which turned into a week.” And, as it turned out, beyond that! According to the Guttmacher Institute’s 2014 statis-tics, 1.3% of 926,600 abortions in the US occurred after the 21st week of pregnancy. That means that in the US, the lives of 12,040 children were aborted at Baby Saybie’s age, or older, in 2014. That would average around 230 deaths every week for an entire year.

These deaths were made possible by the 1973 Roe decision when seven Supreme Court justices somehow discovered a right to abor-tion in the Constitution, which doesn’t mention abortion. The Roe decision stripped all legal protection from all the Baby Saybie’s that had been provided by the individual states for the 185 years follow-ing the Constitution’s ratification.

Baby Saybie went home at five months weighing a healthy 5 pounds. When she was released, one of the nurses said, “She’s a miracle, that’s for sure.” She’s right. Every birth is a miraculous gift. That’s why each of us has an obligation to help end the na-tional disgrace of abortion. That begins with over-turning Roe, and that requires legislators who embrace the truth of John Paul II’s warning that “A nation that kills its own children is a nation without hope.” (1996).
