How well do you know your faith?
1. In last weekend’s homily Father talked about two different sects of Jews. One of them were con-
verts to the Church from Judism and were ethnicity Greek. Name them.
2. The priest serves the people in place of whom?
3. The two types of priests from the Old Testament were the Aaronites and the Levities. The Aaronites
were the High Priests and the Levities assisted them. Who did each one descend from. What is the
analogy with this today in the ministry?
4. When St Peter talks of all of us being part of a royal priesthood. How do we as laity live out our
priesthood?
5. The Greek word for priest is “hieros” and the Greek word for over is “arche.” Together what
English word do they form?
6. It is easy to think of our faith as a theological system, or as a moral code and to think that by
knowing the faith and by how we live we should get to heaven. This not being true, what is the way
to heaven?
7. “Have I been with you so long ___________and still you do not know me?”
8. This saint was born in Italy in 1381 to parents who were advanced in age and so considered her a
special blessing. As a young girl she frequently visited the Augustinian convent near by. Her par-
ents, however, had promised her in marriage, which she did to Paolo Mancini. They had twin boys
and she occupied her time with raising them and caring for her husband, who was a watchman for
the town. Her husband was killed in a brawl, and her two sons died shortly thereafter by natural
causes. Alone in the world, her thoughts turned again to joining a convent which she did at the age
of 36. For the next 40 years she gave herself wholeheartedly to prayer and works of charity, striving
to preserve peace and harmony in the town. She wanted more than anything to be intimately joined
to the redemptive suffering of Jesus, and so Christ granted her a small wound on the forehead, as
though from a thorn, causing her constant pain until the end of her life. She died on May 22, 1457
and her body remains incorrupt. She is considered the saint of impossible causes. Who is she?
9. What are the two basic ways of making moral decisions and what are their outcomes?
10. What is the foundation of our human dignity?
