Welcome to the 39th consecutive de Castella Run!
This is the second time the event has partnered with the
indigenous Marathon Foundation.
We hope you are ready to share a huge morning of fitness and
fun. We’ve got a great event ready for you as well as some
wonderful family entertainment. We encourage you to bring your family and friends
along to the event and stay for a while to enjoy the morning!
We suggest you aim to arrive at Burke Hall 45-60 mins prior to the start of your event
to allow for time to park, find the registration desk, collect your BIB and timing chip (if
it wasn’t posted to you), store any baggage, warm-up and be on the start line 10 mins
ahead of the start time for your event. On the day event registrations will open at
6:30am and close 10 mins before the start of each event.

PARKING
Please observe all local parking signs. Please do not park on the grass in front of the school between Nolan
Avenue and Studley Park Road (Fines will be applied by Boroondara).
Parking Is Not Permitted on Studley Park Road west of Hodgsons street (or anywhere with double lines),
on Nolan Avenue. Parking spaces must be left free for the Par 3 Golf Course. Victoria Police may
issue infringement notices to cars parked illegally.
Parking is permitted on Studley Park Road East of Hodgsons Street, and on most side streets
surrounding Burke Hall. Please study the locality map and plan in advance where you will park. Please
allow time to check in your bag to baggage storage & for a short walk to the start event area.
However we do encourage taking public transport and car-pooling, or to ride your push bike! See more information via this website link
HELP DESK
The Help Desk will be located immediately inside the school hall (Garnet Hall). Garnet Hall is
located inside the main gate (gate 3) on Nolan Avenue. The entrance is opposite the school chapel.
Please see our friendly staff on the Help Desk for all your general enquires on the day. The Help Desk
will be staffed from 6:30am onwards.

CLOTHES / BAG STORAGE
If you need to store gear while you run, go to the Baggage Storage area on the oval. Check in your
clothes or bags with our friendly volunteers at the baggage store area. Plastic bags will be provided. Make
sure you attach your tear off BIB bag storage tag with your BIB number to your bag so we can find it
easily for you after the event! All stored bags will be closely supervised throughout the day, but no
responsibility will be taken by the event organisers for any lost or stolen items. We advise
participants not to leave valuables unattended.
TOILETS AND CHANGE ROOMS
Male and female toilets and change room facilities are available in Garnet Hall and a single toilet is also
located in the class rooms adjacent to the hall. There are also portable toilets located in Nolan Avenue,
right next to the entry gate and the start line. Please note toilets 2 Porta Loos are available on the course
at the 10km turnaround point near Molesworth Street.
FIRST AID / HEALTH AND SAFETY
St John Ambulance have been contracted to provide first aid for the event and will have staff in
attendance for the duration of the event. If you need medical assistance, please tell a volunteer or go
directly to see the St Johns staff who will be based in the Recovery Centre (see site map first aid).
Please ensure you take adequate hydration, before, during and after your run. Please ensure you
bring your own sun protection.
PRE AND POST EVENT FREE PHYSIO ASSESMENT & MASSAGE – DONATED BY PERFORMANCE MEDICINE
We are grateful to the team from Performance Medicine who will have a number of staff on hand to
help you prepare with some pre-event massage as well as post-event treatment / massage. They will be
located on the oval at the Runners World Expo. Pre-event massage will be conducted from 7:00am
and post event massage / treatment from 8:30am. LOCATION on oval weather dependent.
ELITE PREFERRED STARTS
If you have applied for an elite start, please report to the Help Desk to receive a Fluro sticker to place on
your bib denoting your status. Start marshals will only allow preferred runners with a sticker to warm
up at the front of the Start Line.
TIMING AND RESULTS
This event uses electronic timing. Event timing will be conducted by Tomato Timing. The use of
timing mats in conjunction with timing chips attached to your BIB will ensure your time is completely
accurate! Finish times will be provided for participants in all events, and 10km split times will also be
provided for participants in the 15km event. To avoid event timing errors, participants are not
permitted to change event distances during the event. Participants will be able to change events
prior to the start by visiting our friendly volunteers at the “on the day” entry tables. All results will be
made available on the event website on the same day as the event. Go to: results at

A downloadable finishers certificate will be available to store your timing results.
COURSE INSTRUCTIONS – KEEP LEFT AT ALL TIMES / KEEP THE CYCLE LANES CLEAR!
Roads used by the course will be closed to traffic from 7:00am until 10:30am.
Please keep to the LEFT HAND SIDE of the centre of the road at all times. Participants disregarding
marshals’ instructions will be disqualified. Participants who cut across the bends on the road to take the
shortest path are running off the course and will be disqualified. If participants are still completing their
event after 10am we ask them to please move off the road and onto the footpath.
NOTE: Our 15km event has right of way where the BLW walking event crosses our event at
Bellbird Rd past the 10KM turnaround mark. Marshalls will direct event traffic.

Absolutely No Dogs are allowed on the course due to safety regulations and out of respect for your
fellow participants.

DRINK STATIONS
Drink stations will be located at three locations – at the 5km turn around point, at the 10km turn around
point, as well as at the finish line. Each station will serve both a scientifically formulated sports hydration
drink, as well as plain water, in cups.
RUNNERS WORLD EXPO FINISHER FREEBIES
Every finisher will receive complimentary FREEBIES provided by our event partners and sponsors! We are

EVENT PHOTOGRAPHY
Super Sport Images (SSI) will be in attendance to photograph all event participants. As part of the
service offered by SSI, each participant will receive an email from SSI after the event with sample
images from the event available for purchase. If you do not wish to receive an email from SSI after the
event, please email us and we will remove your email address from the database to be used by SSI.

Presentations will be conducted on the stage at the North end of the oval. The presentations will be done in two
parts depending on when race results are available.

Outright Place Getters
The 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed male and female across the line in the Vision PT 5km walk/run, Kay and Burton 10km
and Mizuno 15km events will receive prizes courtesy of our generous sponsors.
Age Group Place Getters
The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd placed male and female in each age category in each event will receive medals. There are five
age categories as follows:
• Youth - Under 16's
• Junior - Under 18
• Adult - 18 years to 39 years
• Master – 40 years to 49 years
• Veteran - 50 years to 59 years
• Super Veteran - 60 years
• Super Super Veteran 70 years and over Age will be determined by age on the day of the event.
SPOT PRIZES
Thanks to the generosity of our event sponsors, a number of excellent spot prizes will be given out
during the presentation ceremonies at 9.00am and 9.30am on the oval. Separate ceremonies will be
conducted for each event and spot prizes will be divided across these. Spot prizes include
vouchers from Restaurants; $200 Runners World; 4 x On Running Shoe Vouchers, $50 2XU
Vouchers & many, many more.
Prizes will be drawn randomly based on BIB numbers, so please retain your BIB after the event to be
eligible to collect your prize. You must be present to win or the next number will be drawn.
