WEEK 8 TERM 4 Commencing Monday 2nd December 2019

A huge welcome to what will be another dynamic week at Parkview PS in the countdown to the conclusion of 2019. Week 7 of the term was a particulalry busy one with a myriad of experiences for our children to engage in. This included the commencment of the highly anticipated Years 2-6 Swimming Scheme at the Leeton Pool. We have enjoyed some excellent weather for the start of this program and are hoping for similar as we enter the second week of the activity (although today was not fantastic). For our Year 6 students, Week 7 saw them engage in their final day of Transition before moving to High School. Students became familiar with what will be their educational surrounds and engaged in a number of peer support activities as they look forward to the challenges and excitement of secondary education. For the parents of Kindergarten 2020 students, Week 7 marked the opportunity to engage in Parent Infomration Sessions linked to Fundamental Learning Skills Bags. It was great to see so many parents able to participate in these sessions. For those families who were unable to attend, these bags will be distributed at Kinder 2020 Transition Graduation on December 11. Last Friday saw the hosting of another thrilling Farrell Cup Ball Games event. Full details of this event are contained in Talking Sport, but it was great to see the sportsmanship, application and enthusiasm of all students who participated in the event. Last night saw the annual hosting of the iconic community event ‘Light Up Leeton’. In particular, it was wonderful to see our Senior Dance Ensemble produce one of the highlight events of the concert performing their acclaimed Riverina Dance Festival piece ‘Water’. Well done to all of the particpants on again representing our school with distinction. Last Friday also saw the distribution of 2019 School Photos courtesy of Master School Portraits-Riverina. If your child was absent on Friday, photos were distributed today. There is much more to consider as we embrace the busy weeks ahead: 2019 Proud and Deadly Awards The Leeton AECG’s 2020 Proud and Deadly Awards will be held at the Parkview PS Hall this Wednesday, 4th December. Students who are receiving awards were provided with invitations last week while our Wiradjuri Dance Group will also be performing at the event. Teacher’s Federation Stop Work Meeting-Thursday, 5th December This Thursday, 5th December the NSW Teacher’s Federation has called a stop work meeting for members. This meeting is likely to be completed by 10am. Despite many teachers from our school attending this meeting, the school will remain open and supervision will be available for all students during this time. Normal classes will resume at the completion of the meeting. Should something change, more information will be distributed via our Facebook Page. Winhangara Playgroup 0-5 Years All the fun of Winhangara Playgroup continues at Parkview Public School. Winhangara Playgroup offers free play based learning for all children 0-5 years in a safe and inclusive environment coordinated by our experienced Early Childhood Trained Teacher. The Playgroup runs from 9.15am-10.45am every Thursday of the school term and features a free healthy morning tea! Bring the kids and bring a friend. We’d love to see you! LHS MADD Matinee Attendance (Non-Swimmers Years 3-6) This Thursday, 5th December students in Years 3-6 who are not involved with the Years 2-6 Swimming Scheme will travel to LHS to view the Matinee Performance of MADD 2019. The cost of this opportunity is just $2. Students are requested to ensure they have returned their permission notes and money to school by Wednesday of this week. Please note that on-line payment is not available for this activity.

Kinder 2020 Transition and Graduation Day Incredibly we are just 2 weeks away from the end of the Kindergarten 2020 Transition Program. Kindergarten 2020 Transition continues this Wednesday from 11.30am-1.45pm. As is tradition, we will host a Kindergarten Transition Graduation event which will feature an information session, family lunch and Graduation Ceremony. This event will be held on Wednesday, 11th December. We encourage all families involved with this event to return their lunch orders by next Monday, 9th December. For more information refer to your specific Kindergarten 2020 Transition Newsletters or contact the school. Year 6 Graduation Dinner Our Class of 2019 will be celebrated at our annual Year 6 Graduation Dinner on Wednesday, 11th December in the auditorium at the Leeton Soldiers Club at 6.30pm. Pre-Graduation Photos have been arranged to be hosted at the Visitors Information Centre from 5.45pm on the afternoon of the event. Semester 2 Reports Teachers are currently putting the finishing touches on Semester 2 Reports which will be distributed to all students on Friday, 13th December. Parents and carers who have questions in relation to these documents are encouraged to discuss them with their child’s teacher. Bright Beginnings 2020 Places are filling fast for Bright Beginnings 2020. If you are considering registering your child we encourage you to contact the school to secure your place for 2020. There are still limited places available in the program as outlined below: MONDAYS: Very limited places available TUESDAYS: Very limited places available WEDNESDAYS: Full (waiting list established) FRIDAYS: Limited places available School Banking School Banking day is Tuesday! Children are encouraged to bring their bank books to the school and leave them in their class banking folder for processing. These books will then be returned to students on a Wednesday in preparation for the following week. Students who are new to the school or wish to commence banking for the first time can contact the office to receive a pamphlet explaining the start up phase for individuals. It is a great financial literacy program so why not consider exposing your kids to the valuable skill of saving at a young age?
