Notes that you can expect to see this week: T20 Blast Cricket Gala Day (Years 3-6)

Notes in the last week: K-2 Major Excursion Note

WEEK 10 TERM 3 Commencing Monday 24th September 2018

Welcome to Week 10 of what has been an amazing term at Parkview Public School. As we approach the final few days of what has been an incredibly dynamic learning period, it is timely to reflect upon some of the amazing experiences and achievements we have enjoyed at Parkview over the last ten school weeks. We have enjoyed some incredibly diverse educational experiences this term, ranging from our Stage 3 Victorian Excursion to Education Week Open Days, CWA Year of Study, NAPLAN On-Line and of course the achievement of Darcy Longhurst winning the Riverina Spelling Bee Championship. It has been an amazing term in the Performing Arts. Our Senior Dance Ensemble performed to high level reviews at KROP, while our Dance, Choir, Band and Musical Theatre groups were outstanding throughout the 2018 edition of Shine. Added to this was the unprecedented success enjoyed by our students at the 2018 Leeton Eisteddfod where our school won the Senior Dance Section, Infants Drama Section, Stage 3 Verse Speaking, Stage 2 Verse Speaking, were named the Champion Debating School and were acknowledged with the Champion Individual Primary Debater and Champion Primary Actor! The sporting fields have also been incredibly productive for our students with Parkview Representative Teams making it to the Riverina Quarter Final stage in Boys Basketball, Girls Soccer and Cricket, while we have had individual Riverina Represetatives in Cross Country and Touch Football, a Riverina Champion in Shot Put and a NSW Representative in AFL. Quite a term! It really has been a term to savour, and we still have a week left to enjoy. The last seven days in our community have, as always, been dynamic. Last Wednesday evening’s P&C Trivia Night at Hotel Leeton was well supported by community members with over $700 raised for the children of our school. A huge vote of thanks is extended to those who attended and coordinated the evening as well as to Hotel Leeton who continue to provide generous support to our school community. Friday saw our school host the Jump Rope For Heart ‘Jump Off’ event, with all children in Kindergarten-Year 6 participating for 1 hour in their respective ‘Jump Offs’. In what is an amazing effort from the students of our school, our jumpers have raised almost $4000 in support of the Heart Foundation. Prizes for students who have reached fundraising thresholds will be distributed next term. Friday was also the final day of the Life Education Van’s visit to Parkview. All classes spent valuable learning time in the van with Healthy Harold engaging in experiences linked to the PD/Health/PE curriculum. The final week of the term is a huge one with a lot to consider for all community members, starting with today’s Years 3-6 Reward Day, which was highlighted by STEM experiences for all students who got their first taste of the new Robotics Kits our school has acquired through the Department Of Education’s loan scheme. Be sure to ask the kids all about these experiences! Please note the following as we embrace a massive final Week of Term 3: Ian Lucas Memorial Public Speaking Competition Finals The finals of the Ian Lucas Memorial Public Speaking Competition will be hosted on the final day of the term (Friday, 28th September). Successful finalists and their parents will be notified on the afternoon of Wednesday, 26th September ahead of finals day. The finals will all be hosted in the Hall with the following timeslots confirmed: Stage 3: 9.15am Stage 2: 10am Early Stage 1: 11.40am Stage 1: 12.00noon All interested community members are encouraged to attend. Please note the starting time of each session. No entry to the venue will be permitted while children are talking. Footy Colours and Cup Cake Day The SRC will host its annual Footy Colours and Cup Cake Day, supporting the Fight to Cure Cancer Foundation, this Friday, 28th September. Children are encouraged to bring along a gold coin donation for the privilege of wearing footy colours to school on Friday, while cup cakes will be available at Recess for 50 cents an item. Children are encouraged to bring along some change to purchase some of these items.
