St. Rita is the patroness of hopeless causes. Let us pray to keep our parish healthy.

News and Notes

St. Rita, patient in suffering, pray for us. Masses and Communion Services to Resume at St. Rita – Archbishop Carlson has announced that parishes in the Archdiocese of St. Louis are permitted to begin resuming public Masses on Monday, May 18, at the discretion of each individual parish pastor. St. Rita will resume the Tuesday 8:30 a.m. Mass on 19 May, the Thursday 8:30 a.m. Communion Service on 21 May, and Sunday Mass at 9:30 a.m. on 24 May. While the Archbishop has given his permission, the general dispensation from the Sunday Mass obligation will remain in place for all Catholics of the archdiocese until further no-tice, as many individuals continue to have concerns for the health and safety of themselves and their loved ones. Here are some additional general guidelines promulgated by the Archdiocese:

Parishioners who are symptomatic or who have been exposed to another with the virus should not come to church, in accordance with national, state and local health directives.

Attendees should take their temperature at home before determining whether they should at-tend Mass.

Anyone over 60 years-old and those with underlying health complications are encouraged to participate in Masses via live-stream only. St. Rita parishioners who are in the above-mentioned high-risk categories should seriously consider staying home.

The faithful are obliged to wear a mask during the celebration of Mass, except for the brief moment of receiving Communion.

See attached documents from the Archdioceses for further information and guidance. These will an-swer some questions and perhaps generate others. If you have questions, give Deacon Dave a call at 314-810-7700 or send an email to [email protected]. Guidelines and recommendations specific to St. Rita are in development and will be disseminated. The return to parish life will be in accordance with the published guidelines and prudent decisions. It will take time to adjust, and there will be some bumps along the way. Please be patient, and above all, let the safety of our parishioners, families, neighbors, and colleagues be a primary concern as Masses begin. In order to keep our parish communities safe, if you or a loved one are diagnosed with corona-virus (COVID-19), please contact your pastor/parish immediately. Pastors have been directed to notify the health department and enact proper disinfecting protocols set forth by the CDC upon re-ceiving this information. Televised and On-Line Masses – Although Masses will be taking place at St. Rita, televised and on-line Masses are still available for those who cannot attend due to health and risk reasons; the Archdioc-esan website has information for resources. The on-line Mass for Christ the King will continue. The link can be found on the CTK website, https://www.ctkstl.com/. This link remains active if you would like to view the Mass at a later time.

“Many people have recently lost their jobs. Let us pray together for our brothers and sisters who are suffering for lack of employment.”
