RE-OPENING OF CHURCHES - Monday, June 29th

In line with Phase 3 of the lifting of the Covid 19 lockdown, it is

planned to re-open our parish church on Monday next, June

29th. As you are aware there are strict guidelines regarding

physical distancing (which at the time of writing is 2 metres) and

sanitising.

While the church building, and ancillary buildings (toilets and

sacristy) will be sanitised before and after each Mass or

ceremony, we want to stress that if you manifest any of the

symptoms of the Covid 19 virus, if you have underlying

health issues, or feel you might be endangering your health

by entering a church building, then we encourage you to con-

tinue to join us on parish radio 105.2FM or on the parish

webcam www.ballyhaunisparish.ie/webcam

We thank those of you who have volunteered to help as ushers

and with sanitising the church. We greatly appreciate the gener-

ous response there has been to our appeal for volunteers and for

coming to the Information Night on Wednesday last.

Again we want to stress that:

The limited available seating will be allocated on a first-come

first-served basis. If you find that on your arrival at the church

all the available seating is full, and you wish to receive Holy

Communion, we encourage you to return to your car and join

in the Mass on your car radio. You are asked to avoid congre-

gating outside the church. At the end of Mass, follow the di-

rections of the ushers and line up outside the south wall

(Supervalu-side) of the church.

The main door of the church will open half an hour before

each Mass/ceremony.

The available pews on both side aisles will be reserved for

family groups (3-6 persons)

Due to physical distancing the seating capacity of the church

will be approximately 74 individuals/couples and a maximum

of 120 people depending on the number of family groups at-

tending.

Ushers will be available to direct people and to ensure physi-

cal distancing. We ask that Mass-goers co-operate with the

ushers and avoid confrontation.

We ask that you avail of the available hand sanitisers on enter-

ing and exiting the church.

It is strongly recommended that you wear some form of face-

covering while in the church.

The distribution of Holy Communion will take place at the

end of Mass. The celebrant and three Eucharistic Ministers

will take up positions at the back of the church.

Those inside the church will receive Communion first and

exit by the main entrance and the side door on the north side.

Face covering is to be removed prior to receiving

Communion.

Communion will then be distributed to those outside the

church. Ushers will direct you through the side door on the

south side (Supervalu-side). You will receive communion and

exit by the main entrance or north side door (sanitising your

hands as you leave). Eucharistic ministers will remain on for

a short time after Mass to distribute Communion, so it might

even be possible to join us remotely for the Mass on radio/

webcam from your home and then make your way to the

church in order to receive Communion.

Because the Sunday obligation has been dispensed with for

the present, we encourage those of you can attend Mass on

weekdays to do so and to stay away at weekends in order to

facilitate those who are unable to attend during the week.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS & READERS: We are aware

that some of our Eucharistic Ministers and Readers may prefer

not to be listed for duty following the re-opening of the church

on Monday 29th June. We would invite you to contact the par-

ish office (094-9630006) during the coming week and let us

know what your preference is.

THE PRIESTS’ SUMMER COLLECTION will be grate-

fully accepted over the coming week. Envelopes can be returned

either to the parish office or at any of the weekday or weekend

Masses. Many people have availed of the option to pay by direct

debit, and bank account details are printed on the back of the

envelopes. The bank account details are as follows:

Ballyhaunis Parish Church, Priests Account. BIC: ULSB IE 2D

IBAN: IE59 ULSB 9852 7005 5201 14

Please remember to include your name and/or envelope

number when setting up the Direct Debit.

BALLYHAUNIS SPORTS HUB is a collective of progres-

sive sports clubs and other local organisations working together

to improve the sport offered in our local community. The hub

will operate within the existing structures of Mayo Sports Part-

nership. The hub will provide information, support and advice

on a wide range of sports and physical activities to make it easier

for people in disadvantaged areas to get involved and engage in a

more active and healthier lifestyle.

The main aim of a BSH is to increase the number of people of all

ages participating in sport and physical activity in our commu-

nity. With Covid 19, our clubs & organisations are gradually

returning to training and activities.

Tracy Cunnane was appointed as Ballyhaunis Sports Hub Coor-

dinator with Mayo Sports Partnership in November 2019; any
