MORE CONCUSSION FACTS:
Your child will begin the Graduated Return to Play progression only after they are symptom free FOR 24 HOURS.
There are 5 stages and each stage last a minimum of 24 hours.
If at any time during the stage process they experience any symptoms, the process stops for 24 hours and they start with the last stage where they had no symptoms.
If symptoms resolve w/in 15 min:
• If the original symptoms resolve within 15 minutes of the incident AND the student has experienced NO other symptoms overnight the ATC can clear the student to begin the gradual return to play progression the day after the incident without seeing a physician.
• The gradual return to play progression is a minimum of 5 days of gradual progression before full return to play will be considered
If symptoms last longer than 15 min and/or return overnight: The student MUST see a physician
There is a specific form that must be completed by the physician in order for the student to be considered “cleared to start the 5 day progression”
This form can be obtained from the school ATC or SAC
