HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY My prayer is that MARY, our blessed Mother, shower us with the blessings we need to carry out our daily activities. Anoth-er year with my mom, who is now 101.5 years young, redirects some of the thoughts I expressed in the past. WHO IS A MOTHER???

A Mother is a person who has an unwavering trust in God and a deep belief in unexplainable truths. She is a person of FAITH. There is a loyalty and fidelity to the promise of the Resurrection making us one with the Lord. There is a confidence that places trust in the Lord during this most trying year. Mothers nurture the faith and hand these tenets to the persons in their lives. Mothers seek ways to live their faith by being loyal servants, trustworthy confidants, and confident human beings. The Lord beckons us to be always faithful. As St. Paul says: “Faith is the substance of things to be hoped for, the evidence of things that spear not.”

A Mother is a person of HOPE who faces the challenges in their hopeful that their goals can be we reached through daily prayer. With HOPE, a mother can look past the confines of this year and, with reasonable confidence, believe that good will permeate with the world. Expectations centered in HOPE result in a peace that makes difficulties bearable. It is hope that leads us to an under-standing of His grace. And grace then becomes the tool needed to be hopeful. As in Psalms 9 “Those who know you trust in you for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.”

A Mother is a person of LOVE who shares a profound tender affection for those placed in her care. And what a challenge it is this year to restrain the need to enfold her family in our arms. She has a deep concern for the well- being of all persons and shares an unconditional love leasing all to be our best selves. If we love God fully for His own sake and extend this to the love of neighbor, God enters our life. Love is so important that without it we have nothing. “There is no fear in LOVE: because perfect love casts out fears.” 1 John 4:18
