From the Principal’s Desk
Dear Parents and Carers,
This week we come to the end of what has been one of education’s
most challenging! As a school community, we have pulled together and I
am very proud of how we faced the hurdles (sometimes daily) thrown
our way. I would especially like to thank our families and teachers for
your dedication, calmness and positiveness in keeping schooling for our
children as normal as possible. As we continue to make our journey through this time, there will
be changes in the way we do things as a whole school. These changes will be positive and will
continue to align our core focus on students and their development and education growth.
At this time, I am reminded of a quote from David Hollis:
‘In the rush to return to normal, use this time to consider which parts of normal are worth
rushing back to’.
Next term, we have renewed focus on building strong literacy and numeracy skills, and wellbeing
in students including:
Reciprocal Reading approaches for Years 3-6 with an emphasis on building
comprehension skills.
Reading Eggs online app for our K-2 students to compliment reading strategies taught in
class.
Matheletics online app for Years K-6 to compliment the teaching of mathematics
concepts.
The introduction of the Smiling Mind program into the weekly curriculum.
A reminder the Semester 1 Student Reports will be distributed on Monday 3 August, 2020. We
will provide the opportunity for parents to request a call from teachers after reports go home in
the week following. As mentioned previously, these reports will look differently and we
anticipate that you will find the new format very informative.
Coming up in Week 3 next Term (Starting 3 August), we will be celebrating Education Week
under the theme of ‘Learning Together’. Unfortunately, we can’t meet as usual to celebrate this
week as a whole community, however under Mrs Zugna’s leadership, our Education Week
Committee are currently planning some wonderful initiatives that I’m sure you will find very
interesting. More information to come about the activities for this week.
Have you seen our new LED light at the front of the school office verandah? It looks fantastic! A
big thank you to our P&C for purchasing this valuable sign for keeping our whole school
community up-to-date with school information, successes and achievements!
I trust that our families will be able to have some time together in the upcoming term break.
School finished for all students on Friday 3 July, 2020.
All students return to school for the start of next term on Tuesday 21 July, 2020.
Warm Regards
Mr Loughhead
(Principal)
IMPORTANT -
STAFF CARPARK

that there are times
when parents and
carers need to drop off
or pick up children
from OOSH, under no
circumstance should
the staff carpark be
used during the
hours of 8am-3.30pm.
Can you please ensure
you adhere to these
rules so that we can
continue to keep our
children and all users of
our school safe.
