Dear Parents and Community Members…. PB Assembly Our PB Assembly will be held at 10:15am on Thursday, September 19 th . Students receiving a PB and their parents/ carers are invited to stay back and have morning tea with staff. K-2 Excursion K-2 students, staff and volunteer parents/carers are off on their adventure to Darling Downs Zoo and the Warwick Wave Pool this Thursday. We know they will have a wonderful time on their excursion. A lot of extra time and effort goes into organising excursions such as this, thank you Mrs Caldwell! Thank you to the staff and parents/carers for helping on the day. School banking This week will be the last week for school banking please note there will be no banking in week 10. Great Role Models Earlier this term Miss Eakin entered into the Australian Outback Marathon. She had a spectacular view of Uluru and the Olgas as she ran her marathon. Most of the course was on unsealed roads, trails and bush tracks. Her time was 3 hours, 40 minutes and 55 seconds. She came second! What an amazing accomplishment! Congratulations Miss Eakin! Staff Achievements Last Tuesday evening, Mr Simon Maher, Mr Geoffrey Swan and Jarrod McIntosh travelled to Armidale to represent the Armidale/Narwan Invitational team against the Great Britain seconds rugby league team (second best players in the whole of Great Britain). Mr Maher played hooker and second row, Mr Swan played second row with Jarrod playing in the center. The occasion included the playing of both national anthems and drew a crowd of approximately 2000 people. Although their team lost 50-12, Mr Maher, Mr Swan and Jarrod thoroughly enjoyed the experience of representing the region. Congratulations, Mr Maher, Mr Swan and Jarrod! Staff Efforts Miss Rivett is participating in Steptember. Steptember aims to raise money for awareness and assistance for those who have cerebral Palsy (CP). Did you know that every 15 hours a child in Australia is born with CP? Cerebral Palsy significantly impacts on an individual’s physical capabilities including walking, brushing teeth, combing hair. Some only suffer mildly, but some are confined to wheelchairs. Her aim is to take a minimum of 10000 steps a day. This is the recommended amount, however the average office worker only takes between 2000 and 3000 steps a day. So far she is averaging just above 10000. If you are able to help out in any way, any donation above $2 is tax deductible you can visit the Steptember website http:// www.steptember.org.au/ and search for Alison Rivett. Or if you would like more information this website will also provide some more insight. Thanks in advance for your support. I do not expect you to donate, but if you would like to it would be much appreciated and you would be helping to make the lives of those with CP just a little bit easier. SRC Fundraiser Last week, the S.R.C. held a fundraiser. Students came dressed in red and yellow to support the Westpac Lifesaver helicopter and enjoy a sausage sandwich at lunch to support our World Vision Sponsor child. The out of uniform raised $169 for the Westpac Lifesaver Helicopter and the BBQ raised $100 for our World Vision Sponsor child. Thank you to Mrs Thomas who coordinated the day and Mrs O’Brien who assisted her, Mrs Gibbins who purchased the bread and sauce and Derek and Mr Hillier who cooked the sausages. THANK YOU to all the students and families who supported the day. The Sir Henry Parkes Golf Day This Sunday, the annual Sir Henry Parkes Memorial Public School P&C golf day will be held. This is one of the major

fundraisers for the year. Last year the event raised approximately $3000. This money went towards P&C

initiatives to support the students. This year, we hope to raise a similar amount. The proceeds will go towards literacy programs to support student reading.

The event is a teams event as a 4-person ambrose. This event is a lot of fun as you don't need to have any ability, experience of knowledge of golf. In brief, each member of your team hits their ball. You then choose the best ball and

all hit your next shot from that spot. The day commences at 10:30 with registration, before a

shot-gun start at 11am. This is where your team is sent to a hole prior to 11am and that is where your team starts from. It

is an 18 hole competition at the wonderful Tenterfield Golf Club.

For further information, please refer to the attached advertisement flyer on this newsletter or contact the

Tenterfield Golf Club or Stephen Manser at the school. Your support of this event would be greatly appreciated, so

get a team together and have an enjoyable and relaxing Sunday of golf.

If you are able to help on the day in anyway please let

Stephen Manser at the school know. Any time you could spare would be greatly appreciated.
