Section 1: About RosiesFounding Principles

Rosies is a Catholic Charity of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI) formed by the love of Jesus Christ.

The OMI are a missionary order of priests and brothers founded by St Eugene de Mazenod in 1826

St Eugene grew up in exile during the French Revolution, preferring to work with society’s most abandoned – the poor, homeless, or in prison – particularly young people

Today, St Eugene’s founding principles underpin our OMI and Rosies aspirations.

Rosies operates on a socially inclusive basis

We offer all our friends experiences of community and belonging – unconditionally

Even when material support (supplies, blankets etc) is offered, social inclusion is at the core

“A socially inclusive society is defined as one where all people feel valued, their differences are respected, and their basic needs are met so they can live in dignity. Social exclusion is the process of being shut out from the social, economic, political and cultural systems which contribute to the integration of a person into the community.” (Msgr David Cappo, 2002).

The Rosies Prayer

O Jesus, make our hearts so human, that others may feel at home with us,

so like Yours, that others may feel at home with You,

so forgetful of self that we might simply become the place where You and they meet

in the power of Your loveand the joy of Your friendship.

Amen.
