With the approach of the Beijing Olympics, do you feel the urge to get a piece of the

action by joining the ranks of athletes?

NWS Holdings has always encouraged sports and recreational activities among staff. For example, the Group organized a bowling competition in May 2008 and will organize a badminton competition in August. The Group believes such activities can enhance work-life balance and a sense of belonging among its employees, thereby creating a win-win situation for both staff and the company.

The Group’s diversified training and development opportunities and recognition forstaff’s outstanding performance also add value to employees and boost the company’s morale. Further details can be found in Cover Story.

As for the importance the Group attaches to two-way communication with staff, New Voice is an excellent case in point. We sincerely invite you to voice your views on the newsletter in the Reader Survey.

As a showcase of its team-spirit and commitment to corporate social responsibility (“CSR”), during the Sichuan earthquake in May, everyone in the Group joined hands to support the victims by fund-raising and volunteer services. Please refer to NWS Scope for details.

The Group’s commitments as a corporate citizen extend to environmental protection as well. Starting from this issue, New Voice will be produced using FSC certified paper (FSC logo in the lower right hand corner of this page). Though the costs are higher, we believe the contributions to the environmental cause are priceless.

We sincerely wish both the Sichuan earthquake survivors and our National Olympic team every success in overcoming all the challenges in life and the sports arena!

隨著近年經濟好轉,本地人力市場亦持續向好。政府統計處公佈2008年

2月至4月失業率跌至10年來新低;香港人力資源管理學會的調查亦顯示,2008年第一季的職位空缺率創新高,僱員流失率亦持續高企。面對人才流失,企業紛紛急謀對策,挽留人才,增加員工歸屬感,以保持競爭優勢。

培訓增值新創建集團擁有43,000名員工,深明人才是推動業務發展的原動力,因而致力透過培訓及獎勵,提升員工士氣及工作表現,亦凸顯集團重視人力資本的管理理念。在業務持續向前的同時,集團也要確保員工的個人才能與集團的發展目標配合,不論管理層或前線員工,均要與時並進,時刻充實自己。

學習文化集團秉持終身學習的理念,鼓勵員工持續進修,提升表現。集團培訓及發展部定期為員工提供多元化的培訓課程,內容涵蓋管理發展、語文運用、職業安全等;而與外間專業機構合辦的課程,如團隊烹飪和Thinkertoys創意思維工作坊等,亦深受員工歡迎。此外,集團亦設有持續進修資助計劃,鼓勵員工進修與工作相關的知識和技能。「培訓和發展項目既能幫助員工發揮潛能,亦能提升公司業務表現,雙得益彰。」集團培訓及發展部高級經理陳耀榮先生說。

集團更於總辦事處定期舉辦題材廣泛的午間講座,讓員工在工餘增廣見聞,並鼓勵員工善用總辦事處內的圖書館及參與「喜閱會」的聚會,藉以推廣持續學習文化。

專業發展集團致力為員工提供學習和發展機會的同時,也著力發掘和栽培具潛質的高級管

理人員,讓他們在集團和主要附屬公司擔當更重要的角色。集團參加由新世界發展所舉辦的New World Star Executive Development Programme,推薦具潛質的行政人員進修由Richard Ivey School of Business所舉辦為期15個月的課程,增強其領導才能、策略思維及管理技巧,為配合集團發展培育所需人才。

管理會議集團每年亦專為高級管理人員舉行新創建集團管理會議。以「2008年營商環境及2009年展望」為題的管理會議於2008年5月14日圓滿結束,共有近200名管理人員出席。會上設有小組討論及匯報環節,由集團執行董事回應,為各公司的管理層提供了互動交流平台。大會嘉賓之中,渣打銀行亞洲區總經濟師兼研究部主管關家明先生分析宏觀經濟及2009年展望;野村國際(香港)有限公司亞洲區運輸及基建研究部主管黃建邦先生以投資分析員的角度,分析市場對集團的看法;嘉賓講者大家樂集團主席陳裕光先生則分享其公司業務發展心得,令各與會者獲益良多。

Maximizing staff value through trainingNWS Holdings treasures its 43,000 employees as a business growth engine. The Group strives to enrich human assets through training and rewards. To ensure that the Group’s growth needs are met, our staff at all levels should move with the times and equip themselves with the right skills and abilities.

Building a culture of learningTo uphold its belief in continuous learning, the Group encourages staff to improve themselves. The Group’s Training and Development Department regularly conducts comprehensive trainings, which cover the topics on management, language and occupational safety, etc. Among all there are also courses jointly held with professional institutions, such as Team Building through Cooking and the Thinkertoys Creative Thinking workshop. The Group also provides education subsidy for external job-related courses. “Training helps employees to maximize their potential, which benefits not only themselves but the company as well,” said Mr Joseph Chan, Senior Manager of the Group’s Training and Development Department.

The Group also regularly hosts luncheon talks, and encourages staff to use the Group’s in-house library and exchange ideas at NWS Reading Club gatherings.

Staff developmentStaff development opportunities are also important to enhancing employees’ job satisfaction. The Group places great emphasis on grooming senior managers and executives with high potential, in order to take on top management positions at the corporate and major SBUs. Under

the New World Star Executive Development Programme launched by NWD, the Group nominates high potential senior executives to join the 15-month programme organized by Richard Ivey School of Business. The programme is aimed at enhancing participants’ change leadership, strategic thinking and management skills.

Management ConferenceThe annual NWS Holdings Management Conference is tailor-made for the senior management. With the topic “Business Environment in 2008 and the Outlook for 2009”, the conference came to a successful conclusion on 14 May 2008, with nearly 200 participants. The group discussion and report sessions, at which executive directors responded to questions from the floor, provided the management of various companies with an interactive platform. Among the guest speakers at the conference, Mr Nicholas Kwan, Regional Head of Research, Asia of the Standard Chartered Bank presented on macro economy; Mr Jim Wong, Head of Regional Transport and Infrastructure of Nomura International (HK) Ltd addressed speech on “An Analyst’s Perspective on NWS”, while Mr Michael Chan, Chairman of the Café de Coral Group, shared his management philosophy.

為嘉許表現傑出的員工,集團於2003年推出「傑出員工選舉」,感謝他們

的努力和貢獻,同時鼓勵集團上下貫徹卓越服務的核心理念。

選舉分香港/澳門及中國內地兩個組別。候選人均經嚴格甄選,包括成員公司內部甄選,以及兩次由集團管理層及專業團體香港人力資源管理學會組成的評審小組面試。評審標準包括:候選人使公司得益的傑出成就、員工的工作熱誠、工作質素、管理技巧以及顧客服務技巧等。

新創建卓越大賞頒獎典禮已於2008年4月8日隆重舉行,以下是當日的盛況。

To recognize the achievements and contributions of outstanding

employees, the Group launched the Outstanding Employee Awards in 2003.

There are two categories of rewards: Hong Kong/Macau and Mainland China. Candidates are subject to a stringent process of internal selection of their respective company and two panel interviews by the Group management and practitioners from the Hong Kong Institute of Human Resource Management. Selection criteria include candidates’ contributions to their respective company, enthusiasm at work, job quality and customer service skills.

鍾亮文積極推行營銷策略,在潯峰洲、沙太路兩大貨運市場的營銷策略獲得空前成功,使車流和收入保持持續增長。另外,他致力和媒體建立良好關係,提升廣州北環高速公路的形象。Mr Zhong has implemented a series of marketing strategies, which successfully helped the company sustain the highway’s traffic flow and income. Moreover, he has established good media relations, which has helped to improve the company’s image.

京珠高速公路廣珠段有限公司技術員 周建萍小姐Ms Zhou Jianping, Technician of Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway (Guangzhou-Zhuhai Section) Company Limited

周建萍憑藉其專業技術,積極投入路政網絡集成管理系統工作,組織系統的開發、應用管理和維修。系統順利推行後,大大提高公司的路政管理工作效率。With her technical knowledge, Ms Zhou was responsible for organizing the development of the highway network integrated management system, as well as the application and maintenance of the system. The launch of the system successfully helped the company to increase its highway management work efficiency.

鄧衛雄對處理突發事故和阻塞的情況素有經驗,致力透過道路標誌管理,減少交通意外,並提高救援技術和效率,縮短交通事故處理時間,恢復交通,確保車流暢順。With years of experiences in handling emergency and heavy traffic, Mr Deng has been devoted to reducing the number of accidents through road sign management. He has also improved the team’s rescue techniques and enhanced efficiency, in order to shorten accident handling time and the time it takes to resume traffic.

龔樹人從事營運工作多年,對前線營運有豐富經驗。去年參與籌備城巴「深西快線」,與運輸署等多個部門及團體合作,於短時間內完成籌備工作,使新路線如期順利投入服務。Experienced in frontline operation management, Mr Kung was responsible for organizing the launch of Citybus Shenzhen West Express in which he collaborated with the Transport Department and various internal and external parties. The new bus lines were successfully launched despite the tight schedule.

洪惠姿在宴會籌劃工作上表現卓越,曾負責多項大型宴會,客戶包括香港理工大學(「理大」)、香港貿易發展局及花旗集團等,其優異服務得到客戶的高度評價。Awarded for her outstanding performance in event management, Ms Hung has taken charge of various large-scale events, for which she has received positive comments from clients including The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (“PolyU”), Hong Kong Trade Development Council and Citi Group, etc.

城巴車長 蔡志聰先生Mr Choy Chi Chung, Bus Captain of Citybus

蔡志聰駕駛城巴機場快線近10年,除有良好的駕駛表現外,更曾阻止扒手盜取巴士上的行李,又主動協助乘客尋回失物,拾金不昧,讓乘客對城巴服務留下深刻印象。Having been a bus captain of the Citybus Airport Express for nearly 10 years, Mr Choy is praised not only for his good driving skills. He has thwarted an attempted theft of luggage, and helped passengers find their lost belongings. Such outstanding customer service has generated goodwill for Citybus.

集團連續第二年派隊參加渣打馬拉松,榮獲「最鼎力支持大獎」以及「工商盃」半程馬拉松組別亞軍,成績驕人。For the second consecutive year, the NWS team participated in the Standard Chartered Marathon, and won the Most Supportive Group Award and the First runner-up in the Half Marathon category of the Corporate Challenge.

僑樂房產服務集團有限公司董事兼署理總經理 杜志文先生Mr Raymond To Director & Acting General Manager, KLPS Group Limited

「服務業是以人為本的行業,同事是我們最大的資產;你怎樣對待員工,他們就怎樣對待客人。所以,我們很著重讓員工在工作上得到滿足感和建立對公司的歸屬感。」“Service industry is a people business and our employees are our greatest asset. How you treat your staff will be mirrored in the way they serve their customers. Therefore, we make it our priority that the staff get job satisfaction and cultivate a sense of belonging.”

管理行行通杜先生於2000年加入僑樂房產服務,在此之前一直從事

與財務會計相關的工作。「雖然我沒有房地產服務的經驗,但管理生意,最終離不開管數,這方面的經驗對我的工作大有幫助。」杜先生說。當年正值科網熱潮,杜先生同時收到一家資訊科技公司和僑樂房產服務的聘書,「我考慮到其業務和房地產相關,具長遠發展潛力。而且我喜歡與人接觸,對服務業很有興趣。另外,公司所管理的新世界中心是我小時候常到的地方,對它特別有感情。所以,我最後決定加入僑樂房產服務。」

內地經驗談早於80年代,僑樂房產服務已應中國內地經濟開放,先後在北京、上海等地設立據點。杜先生有超過20年在中國內地工作的經驗,認為中國內地商機無限,但辦事模式和香港大不相同,需要時間摸索,也具挑戰性。「在中國內地發展,人脈關係和實際經驗比書本的理論來得重要呢!要成功,就必先要放下香港的那套營商方法,學習和適應他們的一套。」杜先生娓娓道出個人經驗。

以人為資產僑樂房產服務現有約1,800名員工,其中九成分佈在中國內地各個辦事處。「不同地區的文化各有不同,例如北京的同事看似很硬朗,其實他們也有感性的一面,更會主動給公司提意見,所以管理也得因地制宜。」談到管理理念,杜先生認為自己並不只給下屬指派工作的上司,而同時是他們的導師。「在工作上,我儘可能給員工指引和意見,至於怎樣完成任務,就由他們自由發揮。」杜先生說。員工一方面不受束縛,但遇上困難時也可找他這個導師商量。「我很重視和員工的溝通,採取『門戶開放政策』,樂於瞭解他們的困難和想法。」

Managing his way to a new job

Prior to joining KLPS in 2000, Mr To was well experienced in accounting and finance. “Though I

wasn’t familiar with property leasing and management, I was good at managing figures. That would come in handy when it comes to running just about any business,” said Mr To. He recalled he had to choose between an offer from an information technology company and that from KLPS. “I thought property-related business had a higher growth potential; I was very interested in service industry as I enjoyed meeting people, and I used to visit New World Centre managed by KLPS when I was young. That’s how I decided to join KLPS.”

Finding his way in Mainland ChinaAs Mainland China opened up its economy in the 1980s, KLPS started setting up offices in major cities such as Beijing and Shanghai. Mr To, with his 20 years of experience in Mainland China, realized the vast potential to be tapped. At the same time, however, the different business practices in Mainland China posed a challenge, which would take time to overcome. “To start a career in Mainland

China, personal contacts and practical experience are more important than book learning. To succeed there, we must put aside our Hong Kong experience, and learn to adapt to their system,” said Mr To.

Capitalizing on human capitalOf the 1,800-strong staff of KLPS, over 90% are stationed in its Mainland China offices. “Each place has its distinctive culture. For example, our Beijing colleagues may look tough, but they do have their sensitive side, and would proactively offer their suggestions to the company. As management, we need to adapt to different cultures as well.” Mr To considers himself a mentor rather than a boss who just assigns different jobs to his staff. “I would give them guidance and advice, and free rein to complete their tasks,” said Mr To. Nonetheless, they can always come to the mentor when they run into problems. “I adopt an ‘open door policy’ as I cherish communication with staff. It is only through communication that I can understand their difficulties and thoughts.”

書中記述的快餐業成功故事,令張先生尤 其印象深刻,「例如最為人熟悉的麥當勞,1968年在美國只有1,000間分店,現時全球已有超過30,000間分店。它以小朋

此外,《Fast Food Nation》亦談及美國對食物安全及工作安全的監管問題,「以天然調味和人工調味為例,一般人都以為前者較健康,但有研究指其實兩者所含的化學成份相若,只是生產過程有所不同;另於飼養以至屠宰牛隻的過程也有涉及到人道、環保、衞生等問題。」張先生認為作者能夠有系統地闡述這些龐雜的資料,讓讀者從多角度思考和判斷,正是這書值得一看再看的原因。

“I bought Fast Food Nation in the UK many years ago. I found it still interesting

when I read it again lately. The wide-ranging topics including growth of fast food industry, US slaughterhouse operations, food and work safety, marketing campaigns targeting children, etc. provide readers with rich contents and an in-depth analysis,” Mr

Cheung said.

Mr Cheung is particularly impressed by

the success stories of fast food industry.

“McDonald’s had only 1,000 restaurants

in 1968 and now it has more than 30,000

branches globally. Targeting child consumers

by forming marketing alliance with toy and

sports traders and Hollywood studios,

and through various promotion channels,

McDonald’s has made the children get into

the ‘fast food habit’ and become its loyal

consumers when they grow up. The rise of

McDonald’s is used to highlight the effect of

globalization brought about by US fast food

industry. It is an ideal teaching material for

success in business!”

Another focus of the book is on US

supervision on food safety and work safety.

“People tend to think a natural flavour is

healthier than an artificial flavour. However,

as shown by a research study, the contents

of both are similar.” Mr Cheung believes

the book succeeds in cutting a long story

short, thus inspiring the readers to think. This

makes the book worth reading again and

again.

To nurture reading culture and create a leisure reading atmosphere in office, NWS Reading Club held its first mini book fair at the Corporate Office on 18 June 2008. Over 80 books

on diversified subjects, including management, business, travel, health, fiction, religion, etc, were put up for sale at special rates. Open during lunch time and after office hours, the book fair generated an overwhelming response.

你覺得自己是否屬有創意的一群?曾否想過為什麼別人可以在短時間內想出

創新的精彩方案,自己卻絞盡腦汁也想不出新構思來?其實,創意並不是天賦的特異功能,而是每個人都具備的一種潛力,可以透過訓練培養起來。

上期為大家介紹過保險為風險管理中的重要工具,今期的題目亦是與保

險有關,並有助於僱主管理工傷的嶄新安排──工傷復康計劃。

問:工傷復康計劃的內容是怎樣的﹖答:此計劃旨在為因工受傷的僱員安排合適的復康護理服務,並非強制性。假設有僱員因工受傷,僱主便可透過工傷復康計劃公司及保險公司,安排僱員接受復康計劃指定的醫生評估,再為他們安排合適的復康治療。

問:此計劃有什麼優點﹖答:僱員受傷後可於短時間內得到適當的治療,使其傷患可早日復原,並在安全的情況下返回工作崗位,公司的生產力和員

工傷復康計劃知多少Rehabilitation programme for employees injured at work

enhancing the company’s productivity as well as staff morale. The rehabilitation programme can help employer manage the injury claims and minimize ineligible claims. In addition, the rehabilitation company will conduct regular reviews with employers to identify the root causes of the accidents and suggest ways to minimize reoccurrence in future.

Q: How many member companies have already joined the programme?A: PPS, Waihong Environmental Services and Uniformity have adopted this programme for one or two years, leading to substantial reductions in sick leave days and claim severity. The Group’s Risk Management Department will promote this programme to other member companies, especially those in labour-intensive industries, to reduce injury case and ensure staff’s safety, thus reducing injury claims and insurance premium in the long run.

Q: What is this rehabilitation programme for employees injured at work about?A: This programme, which is not mandatory, is aimed at providing suitable rehabilitation services for injured employees. Under the programme, an employer can collaborate through the rehabilitation company and insurer to arrange for injured employees to consult the assigned panel doctor for medical assessment, so that suitable rehabilitation services will be promptly provided.

Q: What are the benefits of joining the programme?A: Under the programme, injured employees could get suitable treatment in a short period, which would facilitate a speedier recovery and allow them to return to work under safe conditions, thereby

陳Sir心得──齊來「腦力激盪」Mr Chan’s Tips – Brainstorming

腦力激盪是一種激發創造力的有效方法,由一個或一組人進行討論,讓參加者隨意提出與討論主題相關的意見,經記錄後再加分類整理,重中發掘新觀點和解決問題的方法。

為加強員工的創意思維,集團培訓及發展部於2008年4月首次舉辦「Thinkertoys創意思維工作坊」,教授多種激發創意的輔助思考工具,讓學員嘗試加以運用,掌握解決問題的方法。培訓及發展部亦會定期舉辦創意思考課程,有興趣的同事請留意每月發放的培訓課程摘要或瀏覽集團內聯網iii.nws.com.hk。

Brainstorming is an effective way to generate ideas which can be conducted individually or by a group. To do so, participants need to offer ideas related to the defined topics freely. Ideas will then be categorized and modified to find out solutions to the problem.

In April 2008, to equip staff members with creative thinking skills, the Group’s Training and Development Department organized a Thinkertoys Workshop for the first time. Participants practised using thinking tools to stimulate their creativity and solve

problems. The Training and Development Department organizes Creative Thinking Workshops regularly. Interested parties are welcome to check for updates from the Monthly Training Highlights or the Group’s Intranet (iii.nws.com.hk).

工作挑戰Jane : 我們快將踏入行政主任計劃的最後一年,工作量大了,壓力也增加了不少。

Tonny : 工作量增加代表同事對自己的信任。我加入新創建基建管理的能源組已有一年,負責處理珠江電廠的日常事務,其中不少和財務有關,很富挑戰性。

James : 我在集團總辦事處的財務部工作,接觸到不同項目管理的知識,讓我畢生受用。

David : 在新巴/城巴的日子也讓我大開眼界。最難忘的是節日期間當值外勤時遇上的突發事件,例如要應付乘客倍增的需求等,讓我體驗到不同部門同事所面對的困難。

Jane : 我在會展中心項目統籌部實習,為舉辦活動的單位提供協助。過去半年裡,週末也經常在工作中度過,有時更要值班到凌晨。工作繁忙,我認為最重要的是保持樂觀的心境,把困難視為學習的機會。

Jane: I am currently attached to the Event

Planning and Coordination Department

in HKCEC, which provides prompt

assistance to different event organizers

in HKCEC. I had to work most weekends

and sometimes even on midnight shift. The

most important thing is to keep a positive

attitude and learn from the difficulties.

A balanced lifeDavid: Besides work, each of us has

different activities or commitments in life.

Striking a balance between work and life

can be tiring.

James: Balancing work and

life is an art. No matter how

busy at work, I will meet my

friends for ball games during

weekends, which is good for

health. I have also formed a

volleyball team with colleagues

from different member

companies and we are now

training for competition!

Tonny: Exercise is really a

good stress reliever. In my

spare time, I would

go hiking with my

friends to enjoy

nature. I also join

management

officers and our

mentors for regular

leisure activities,

such as singing

karaoke. I think this

will help us know

one another better.

David: To me, I

enjoy playing music

as a way to ease

Tonny : 運動是一個減壓的好方法,我也喜歡在工餘時間遠足,親親大自然;行政主任也會定期和導師有些輕鬆的聚會,例如唱卡拉OK等。這些活動對增進同事之間的關係大有幫助,也令我們工作得更起勁。

David : 同意!音樂可以幫我放鬆緊張的情緒。因此,我和一群舊同學組織了一個無伴奏合唱小組,還在去年的聖誕節表演。

Jane : 我正跟朋友組織一個室樂團,會負責拉小提琴和彈鋼琴,將來或會有機會和David的合唱團合作呢!

Tonny : 要維持工作和生活的平衡,最重要是事事專注,要懂得把工作和生活分開,也就是「工作時工作,遊戲時遊戲」的道理。

James : 不過,到底知易行難,我們唯有不斷學習!

of NWSI, I am currently

involved in the Zhujiang

Power Plant project.

The focus on financial

matters in my daily work is

particularly challenging.

James: I am attached to the Finance

Department of the Group, working with

different projects. I have learned so much

about the different aspects of project

management.

David: At NWFB/Citybus, I have to deal

with all sorts of emergencies like helping

my stress. So I have formed a cappella

group with friends and we performed for a

concert last Christmas.

Jane: I will be playing violin and piano

for an ensemble being formed with my

friends. Perhaps we will collaborate with

David’s singing group in future!

Tonny: I think the key to balancing work

and life is to focus on each task in hand

and separate work from life. As the saying

goes, we should “work hard and play

hard”.

James: It is always easier said than done.

We can only hope to learn to walk the talk.

生活平衡David : 我們除了工作以外,還有不同的工餘活動要兼顧,要取得平衡,有時候也挺累的。

James : 平衡工作和生活可算是一種藝術。無論工作多忙,我也會趁週末和朋友打球,既可鍛鍊身體,也可聯絡感情。另外,我也和同事組隊一同參加排球訓練,結識了不少其他成員公司的同事,還準備參加公開比賽呢!

Jinmen Guli, also known as Gu Wenhua Jie (Old Cultural Street), was a

NWS Holdings announced its acquisition of a stake in Chongqing Water Group (“CWG”) on 6 April 2008. Together with SUEZ Environment (“SUEZ”), the Group signed a strategic

惠康環境服務投得大型清潔合約Waihong Environmental Services awarded large-scale cleaning contracts

惠康環境服務成功投得香港鐵路有限公司(「港鐵公司」)的四份大型清潔合約,除現時的服務範圍外,新合約將包

括港鐵公司的所有車廠及會所、將軍澳線、港鐵大樓及其他行政大樓等。新合約將於2008年6月開始,為期三年,總值超過港幣三億元。

Waihong Environmental Services has secured four cleaning contracts of MTR Corporation Ltd (“MTRC”).

In addition to the existing service locations, the new service scope will be extended to all depots and clubhouses, Tseung Kwan O Line, MTRC Headquarters Building and other administration buildings. With a total contract sum in excess of HK$300 million, the new contracts are to commence in June 2008 for a term of three years.

HK • Love • Trees designed three tree trails at Victoria Park, Kowloon Park and Tuen Mun Park, where tree walks were

organized for about 70 volunteers in April and May 2008. Some of the participating volunteers even became tour guides for school teachers on the tree walks.

To facilitate effective environmental education, a Journey of Trees Teachers’ Guidebook was published with a CD-Rom to introduce readers to the 42 tree species of the three tree trails as well as the skills in leading tree-mapping activities.

新創建慈善基金與綠色力量合辦的全港首個大型、持續的樹木保育計劃「港人‧港樹‧

港情」於2008年5月24日在新世界中心舉行了頒獎典禮。典禮上頒發巴士車身設計、徵文及攝影比賽的各個獎項,並舉行為期兩星期的得獎作品展覽,吸引不少市民來細味香港人和榕樹之間的「情」。

「港人‧港樹‧港情」計劃在過去一年來獲得很大的迴響,全港中、小學生及市民都投入參與各項比賽,引起大眾多關注周圍的樹木以及本地樹木的保育問題,合共收到超過7,200份作品。大會更把得獎作品結集成《榕榕細語》精選集,免費派發予全港所有中學、公共圖書館

等,讓更多學生和市民一同分享有關榕樹與香港人的故事。

HK • Love • Trees programme co-organized by NWS Charities Foundation and Green

Power, is the first large-scale and sustainable tree conservation project in Hong Kong. A prize presentation ceremony was held at New World Centre on 24 May 2008, in which the prizes for bus body design, writing and photo competitions were presented, while a two-week exhibition featuring the winning entries was launched.

Generating marvellous responses in the three competitions, the programme aroused public

awareness of the importance of trees to the local community and related conservation issues; attracted over 7,200 entries from members of the public, secondary and primary school students. All winning entries were published in an anthology entitled Memories Under Banyan Trees, which will be distributed free-of-charge to all local secondary schools and public libraries, so that more people can share the stories about Banyan trees and Hong Kong people.

Class were attended by more than 50 staff members. Participants in the Photography Class found the lessons both entertaining and instructive, while Paper Clay Class participants were happy to try their hands at creating their own clay objects and spend some quality time with their families.

員,縫製愛心衣裳作為母親節禮物。學員於2008年4月26日在理大教授悉心教導與「新創建愛心聯盟」義工協助下,親手為母親製作愛心衣裳。活動於2008年5月11日(母親節)在新世界中心舉行,由學員的母親充當模特兒,即場演繹「愛心衣裳」。集團執行董事兼企業社會責任委員會主席曾蔭培先生與其他主禮嘉賓一同頒發獎項。

Joining hands with the Troels H. Povlsen Care Apparel Centre of PolyU, NWS Charities Foundation sponsored the Mother’s Day Clothes-Making Event aimed at teaching 25 mentally-disabled

members from the Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council to make outfits for their mothers as Mother’s Day gifts.The mentally-disabled made outfits for their mothers with the guidance and assistance from the PolyU professors and NWS Volunteer Alliance members on 26 April 2008. The Mother’s Day Clothes-Making Event was held at New World Centre on 11 May 2008 where the mothers of the mentally-disabled members paraded in their “special outfits” on stage. Mr Tsang Yam Pui, Executive Director and Chairman of the Corporate Social Responsibility Committee of the Group, presented prizes with other officiating guests for the event.

「精靈師徒」計劃“Fairy Mentorship” Programme

「新創建愛心聯盟」與安徒生會籌辦「精靈師徒」計劃,讓義工成為小朋友的「師傅」,一起參與義工活動。開展禮和義工訓練日已分別於2008年3月29日及5月24日順利舉行。

NWS Volunteer Alliance and Hans Andersen Club organized a “Fairy Mentorship” programme, in which volunteers and their mentees — the children — will provide volunteer services together. The kick-off ceremony and a volunteer training day were held on 29 March and 24 May 2008 respectively.

新巴/城巴與東華三院方樹泉日間活動中心暨宿舍合辦「活力動感創新生」計劃,名為「舒筋活絡齊競技」的首項活動在2008年5月25日於柴灣新巴車廠舉行。義工以及40名智障學員一起參與競技遊戲。

Under the “Living a Dynamic New Life” programme co-organized by NWFB/Citybus and TWGHs Fong Shu Chuen Day Activity Centre cum Hostel, the first event “Fun Race” was held at NWFB bus depot on 25 May 2008. Volunteers and 40 mentally disabled residents enjoyed the fun games together.

在端午節前夕(2008年6月7日),惠康環境服務組織超過50名「新創建愛心聯盟」義工參與香港基督教女青年會明儒松柏社區服務中心的長者探訪,到西灣河和鰂魚涌上門給長者派發糭子。

On the weekend before the Dragon Boat Festival (7 June 2008), Waihong Environmental Services recruited more than 50 volunteers from NWS Volunteer Alliance to join a door-to-door visit organized by Hong Kong YWCA Ming Yue District Elderly Community Centre to deliver rice dumplings to the elderly in Sai Wan Ho and Quarry Bay.

創建新生計劃2008 ─ 變出家庭和諧Life Rejuvenation Scheme 2008 to conjure up family harmony

近60名「新創建愛心聯盟」的義工與香港基督教女青年會攜手宣揚家庭和諧訊息,分別

於2008年5月31日及6月21日到訪天水圍和沙頭角。義工帶同禮物包探訪「創建社區關懷日2008」中來自天水圍的受惠家庭,彼此分享生活近況。義工又講解和諧溝通之道,並進行問卷調查,以協助社工瞭解他們的需要。此外,曾受魔術和小丑訓練的義工首度於沙頭角社區中心表演,為長者帶來歡樂。義工與長者玩遊戲之外,還逐家探訪,為偏遠地區的長者家庭獻上關懷。

NWS Volunteer Alliance member joined hands with YWCA to promote family harmony in

Tin Shui Wai and Sha Tau Kok on 31 May and 21 June 2008 respectively. The volunteers visited families in Tin Shui Wai, to offer family harmony tips. The volunteers trained as magic and clowning performers brought joy and positive messages to the elderly in Sha Tau Kok through their performances. Volunteers also paid visits to the elderly at their homes.
