outsourcing sectors are generating a large percentage of employment opportunities in Spain. For example, Spanish software factories have more than 12,000 highly qualified professionals that meet the most demanding and strict quality regula-tions at the international level. The Spanish consulting and outsourcing industry is a significant contributor to the increase of the competitiveness of the Spanish economy through the promotion of innovation in the public and private sector. Future trends indicate that the demand of IT outsourcing services will continue increasing, and thus, they will fulfill a more important role in the develop-ment and growth of the sector.

OUTSOURCING AND CONSULTING

The consolidation and simultaneous growth of the services market has significantly accelerated in the last few years as demonstrated by the greater number of success stories of growing and thriving outsourcing and consulting firms. Currently, Spain is considered as one of the most well-equipped and suitable countries to implement nearshore strategies. Nearshore services provide externali-zation processes to liberate a com-pany to focus on its core competency while adding strategic value added to these processes. Spanish com-panies are leaders in the provision of computer services for consulting, technology training and more specifi-cally, for outsourcing. The progressi-ve internationalization of production and services, the high academic and technical level of the professionals of the sector and their profound knowledge about the quality and business internationalization process models, allow the Spanish IT indus-try to offer high- value added servi-ces related to innovation and spe-cialization. Currently, consulting and

Local talent for a global company

Accenture España is the fourth largest company in the Accenture Group regarding revenue and the first in terms of market share. 80 percent of the enterprises listed in the IBEX-35 are Accenture’s clients thanks to the value added by the solutions the multinational offers and the talent of its employees.

Accenture España is formed by over one thousand professionals scattered among the company’s facilities in Barcelona, Madrid, Málaga and Sevilla. Their average age is 28 and 70 percent of them hold a university degree. These young professionals carry out activities aimed at the application of information technology and develop the most innovative solutions in the market; a comprehensive set of developmental technologies that ranges from Hostcentric and Netcentric, to Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Solutioncentric.

SAP solutions centers are based in Valencia and Zaragoza. These centers constitute the local extension of the Industrial Solutions Centers (ISC) and they focus on the development of international nearshore projects following Accenture’s model. These two cities are strongly positioned in the global organization of the company due to their favorable geographic location, their prestigious universities and the quality of their infrastructures.

The fact that Accenture España displays so much local talent does not imply that its projects are local. Nowadays, approximately 50% of its activity includes working for Spanish organizations and international projects in countries such as the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Sweden, Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Greece, Argentina, Israel, Mexico and China. In addition, Accenture develops custom applications for clients from diverse sectors through 15 service centers in Spain, including the management of the internationally renowned Casablanca center.

In June 2009, the Business Process Outsourcing Center of Madrid was added to the organization. Today, a process factory model is being implemented there. This model is based on productivity tools that make it possible to anticipate the results of every project, thereby guaranteeing better quality of service. In only half a year of activity, it has managed 3,000 providers, billed 160,000 invoices and submitted 1,500 reports. These figures attest to the prestige of a company that thinks globally and acts locally.

“ The average age of the professionals that work at Accenture is 28 and 70 percent of them hold a university degree”

• “Bottom-up” Innovation, which promotes creativity among Accenture’s professionals. It stimulates the professional’s’ capacity to generate ideas that can result in innovative services and products.

• Grapevine is a collaboration tool developed by Accenture to track all the new ideas and to carry out an exhaustive follow up process of all the initiatives developed by its professionals.

• The Innovation class at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) is based on using group work to generate ideas for mobility, innovation models, new sales, distribution and rating models.

Innovation and sustainable technology

If a historian of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) decided to create a symbolic honor roll for the technological companies that have best adapted to a new globalized economy by assimilating to it, growing and generally succeeding, one of the companies included would be, without a doubt, Avánzit.

The Avánzit Group is a multinational company based in Spain with over 50 years experience in the infrastructure, technology and media markets. Avánzit has over 4,500 employees and is present in 25 countries and four continents.

Spain and Portugal in Europe; Morocco in Africa; Papua New Guinea and Fiji in Oceania; and the United States, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Surinam, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago, the Virgin Islands, Jamaica, Haiti, the Cayman Islands and the Dominican Republic in the Americas; these are the countries where Avánzit operates, where it has proven its efficiency and commitment, and where it has put its technologically innovative solutions into use.

This Spanish group trades in the Madrid and Bilbao stock markets and is organized around three business areas: infrastructure, technology and internationalization. At the end of the third quarter of 2009 its global turnover was €117,164 million without taking into account Vertice 360º, a company in which Avánzit has a majority shareholding of 36.7%.

The infrastructure area, made up by Avánzit Telecom, Avánzit Infraestructuras and Grupo Elfer, works mainly in telecommunication installations, renewable energies, railway electrification and engineering services.

Avánzit Tecnología and Navento area offer ICT solutions and services, geolocation and mobile entertainment. Avánzit Tecnología has been awarded the best service partner prize in Spain by leading companies such as Cisco, Alcatel-Lucent and Nortel Networks.

The international business area, made up by Infraestructuras Internacional, Tecnología Internacional and the Grupo Calatel, develops all the activity of Avánzit’s companies at an international level giving preference to engineering, building, operating and maintaining infrastructures and services related to mobile location and communication.

The group’s prestige and experience has enabled Avánzit to develop and execute a large number of high level projects in the countries where it operates. A recent success has been the signing, in 2009, of the group’s first contracts with renowned clients in Mexico: PEMEX, Telcel and MaxiGas Natural, to the value of U$D2.7 million.

Amongst other contracts worth mentioning are the ones signed with Morocco’s National Railways for the completion of two optical fiber nodes (Marrakech-Settat axis and the connection of Tanger Med with the national rail network); and the installation of the complete network for the Trump Ocean Club in Panama – a project valued at U$D2.4 million.

Avánzit has an unconditional commitment to R&D and innovation and is developing several projects, the outcome of which are a series of products to respond to the needs identified in different technological areas such as work group and incident management, geographic information systems, and radio electric analysis, all of them with a high degree of mobility.

“ élogos, a training and knowledge management outsourcing reference”

• e-learning and outsourcing platforms.

• Methodology Learn by Doing.

ÉLOGOSTel.: (+34) 91 405 04 [email protected] www.elogos.esC/ Condesa de Venadito, 128027 Madrid

A talent school in Latin America

Knowledge does not take up space and knows no boundaries… at least at élogos, a Spanish consulting company that has used its expertise in online training through advanced platforms to conquer the Latin America market. With 310 employees from 18 different nationalities, élogos holds enough references and experience to succeed in its expansion into South America.

The company’s numbers confirm its extraordinary trajectory. élogos has over 400 clients in Chile, Brazil, Spain and Mexico, where it has become a model of training outsourcing and knowledge management. Among its most emblematic projects are the setting up of the Escuela de Excelen-cia Empresarial (Business Excellency School), at Telefonica’s Corporate University, as well as the design and development of FEMSA’s Corporate University – FEMSA is a group of companies with over 150,000 emplo-yees and a leader in the Latin American market.

Founded in 2005 from the merger of Fycsa and the Doxa Group, this new company grows with the support of strong pillars inherited from its predecessors: the company’s capacity to carry out large projects through innovative tools.

Aware of the potential to generate talent formed by the fusion of knowledge and technology, élogos has a R&D department with over 20 employees whose objective is to develop and improve training solution that meet the needs and expectations of the market. This is what posi-tions élogos in the forefront of its sector.

On a daily basis, the company combines the implementation of an em-pirical methodology called “Aprender Haciendo” (Learn by Doing), using cutting-edge technologies ensuring training efficiency, and improving the performance of the personnel.

The company utilizes its own platforms for e-learning and outsourcing. These tools enable the improvement in efficiency and effectiveness of the client’s training management processes.

And it is precisely because of its efficiency and the other merits mentio-ned above, that élogos has signed a contract with the Bank of Credit and Investment of Chile. Because of this, they have developed a platform to coordinate and manage training for a group of 9000 collaborators, as well a Language School at the Corporate University of the Bank of Brazil.

élogos’ philosophy consists of being a strategic partner of its clients, working together on projects suited to their needs and organizational reality. This is reflected by their sales forecast of €40 million for 2009, a number that can only be compared to its greatest assets; its human capital.

A strategy for multinational companies

Everis is a Spanish multinational consulting firm that works with major companies from all sectors to develop long-term partnerships in order to help them achieve their business goals through knowledge, talent, and information technology.

Everis began business in 1996 with the opening of an office in Madrid, and in its thirteen years of existence it has grown nationally and internationally to achieve an annual revenue of approximately 400 million euros. It became one of the top consulting firms in the domestic market, a market leader in Chile, and has a strong presence in Europe and Latin America.

The company relies on 6,800 employees in offices in Alicante, La Coruña, Bilbao, Madrid, Barcelona, Murcia, Seville, Valencia, Lisbon, Milan, Rome, Varsovia, Santiago de Chile, Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Bogotá, and São Paulo.

Its core business is strategy consulting, technological applications, telecommunications outsourcing, banking and insurance, industry, energy, and public administration. In October 2006, the company’s 10th anniversary, the company changed its name to Everis. Three months later, an agreement was signed with Apax Partners and FManagers to acquire the company and the contract allowed employees of the consulting firm to become owners.

The following year Everis incorporated new members who were investors in the 3i fund, the Landon Corporate Group, and a minority group of small shareholders. This agreement confirmed the commitment of company executives to consolidate and maintain the company’s differential model of management, which has been a fundamental step for its revenue growth and expansion in foreign markets. For the development of this ultimate objective it has an international corporate arm aimed at supporting the expansion of the company to other countries and managing projects in those in which it does not already have a local presence.

Everis´s external activities are developed by executing projects in large companies from the most dynamic sectors of the economy and accompanying these clients in their international expansion, as is the case with Telefónica, BT, Vodafone, Grupo Santander, BBVA, La Caixa, Aguas de Barcelona, Ebro Puleva and Iberdrola. Keeping up with the challenge of innovation is one of the central pillars on which the company’s growth rests, both in terms of business and talent; Everis has developed a network innovation model that has materialized with the launch of the La Salle Innovation Park for Human Services, which has the goal of innovating in conjunction with all of the agents in the business ecosystem: clients, competitors, R&D networks and end users. It is a strategy of shared progress with the guarantee of being the first strategic planner to accompany Spanish multinationals. Failure is not an option.

“ In its 13 year history, Everis has converted itself into one of the top consulting firms in Spain, a market leader in Chile, and a strong contender in Europe and Latin America”

• Everis, in collaboration with the COTEC Foundation, has developed a proprietary methodology called COTIM, by means of which it has articulated a consulting offer in innovation with two aspects: Business Innovation, which develops

a model of corporate governance in innovation; and Regional Transformation, which uses generated models to support the transformation of the production model.

OESÍA NETWORkSTel.: (+34) 91 309 86 [email protected] C/ Santa Leonor, 6528037 Madrid

“ Mexico is also home to some of this company’s emblematic international projects like the U$D50 million contract to work alongside the Mexican Government in the modernization of their Social Security system”

• Oesia develops four main technological solutions of its own: Gacela Care (health), MB Suite (mobility), Soc Suite (security) and Altura (public administration). In addition, it has over 6 years experience in the Open Technologies market in Spain and Latin America.

• Oesia has two Eureka projects: Ventanilla Europea and Alcalde Interactivo.

• It invests about 5% of its annual income in R&D and it has been recognized for its participation in the Iberoeka program at the III CDTI Conference on International Technology Cooperation.

Young and brilliant

Oesia, a 10-year-old company that spun off from the Deusto University in Bilbao, Spain, has positioned itself among the top Spanish technology consulting companies.

This company specializes in Information Technology (IT), business process outsourcing and advanced engineering and services, and its impressive growth in such a complex market has been based on two essential factors: a selective acquisition strategy that brings more added value and an international expansion effort aimed at creating high-tech services platforms in low-cost locations.

The selective acquisition strategy has led to the consolidation of the convergent and integral portfolio of solutions that has been key to gaining the trust of more than 700 clients like Telefónica, EADS, Santander, Iberdrola, Inditex, Gas Natural, Vodafone, the Spanish ministries of health, defense and justice, and other regional administrations.

On the other hand, the company’s approach in its international expansion allows it to offer between 30% and 50% investment-spending reductions to its customers in Europe and the United States.

Regarding internationalization, Oesia has taken advantage of a valuable tool: the Spanish language. This company is building a reliable Spanish knowledge and offshore services platform in Latin America. The platform is formed by and filled with outsourcing best practices and methodologies, process consulting and a software factory.

The implementation of this business methodology has positively positioned the young Spanish company in Colombia, Brazil, the United States, Panama, Cuba, Portugal, the United Arab Emirates and Mexico, where there is one of the main activity bases of Oesia; In 2009, Oesia acquired 51% of the Mexican company Quarksoft, which has three centers and offices in Silicon Valley.

Mexico is also home to some of this company’s emblematic international projects like the U$D50 million contract to work alongside the Mexican Government in the modernization of their Social Security system. Oesia is also in charge of the development of an integral information system for the Secretary of the Navy (SEMAR, Armada de Mexico), which facilitates intelligence processes like recollection, classification and analysis of institutional information and enables the generation and dissemination of intelligence products.

Outside Mexican borders, Oesia stands out for the creation of a software testing factory in Sao Paulo (Brazil) that will provide services to Telefónica Sao Paulo (Telesp) and Telefónica Latin America. Holding a prominent position in sectors such as defense, aerospace, public administration, telecommunication, insurance and banking, Oesia has leading solutions for security, services, industry, transportation and tourism. Such an offering has resulted in over €200 million in steady income and has allowed for the maintenance of 3,500 personnel, out of which 760 are located outside Spain, notably in Colombia and Mexico.

As a conclusion, it is important to mention that this firm has achieved all this in only ten years, proving that it is possible to be young and brilliant at the same time.

The Pioneer in Near Shore Technology

At the beginning, Softtek was Near Shore®. That statement summarizes Softtek’s essence. Softtek is the multinational company that coined and registered the near shore concept, and thanks to its expertise in nearshoring, it competes with India in providing efficient outsourcing services. Softtek offers technology-based services related to applications, IT infrastructure support and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO). From its Centro de Entrega de Servicio (Service Delivery Center) based in A Coruña, Spain, Softtek Europa has operated since 2004 and has expanded its activity to apply its model to clients in Germany, Holland, Italy, France and Switzerland. Some of its clients are listed in the Fortune 50. The Spanish center is ninth in a network consisting of four centers in Mexico, two in China, one in Brazil and one in Argentina. These centers meet the highest quality standards for global operators and they deliver services from their location through the Near Shore® system with onshore – offshore combinations. Just like the saying goes, “we do difficult work fast, impossible work takes us a bit longer”, Softtek has made a drastic change to its model to meet strict American quality requirements established by the world’s giant companies like CMMi level 5 and Six Sigma techniques.

From its Spanish headquarters, Softtek serves Europe by consistently developing complex systems and applications, project management programs, web development systems and application maintenance services (AMS) for production, problem resolution, functional programs evolution and daily operative management. In addition, Softtek provides on-call assistance for its final users, enterprise resource planning (ERP) and Software Quality Assessment, and it facilitates business process outsourcing (BPO) in both technological and functional aspects.

Softtek Europa has crystallized Softtek’s working methodology and it has taken advantage of its expertise supported by 27 years of experience and ten SAP Excellence Awards. Softtek is recognized for its value added services in multinational companies that operate in the international market that simplify services management, resolve location issues, and promote innovation by establishing productivity and economic vitality as their ultimate goals. Softtek’s qualified staff has tripled since its foundation and it has enabled Softtek Europa to weave networks and relations with Spanish institutions that operate in the European market. Through these connections it has structured training programs alongside Spanish and American universities and business schools. There is a need to communicate excellence and to show the ways that lead to it, and Softtek has much to say about it.

Danone’s business inteligence

Founded as a manufacturer of engines for electric appliance and listing on the Stock Exchange of Madrid since 1987, Tecnocom Telecommunications and Energy took a radical turn in its business activity at the same time as the world entered the new millennium. It was then when it acquired its current name and became one of the founding companies of the new Market Index incorporating high-end technology companies and activities with high growth potential.

Five years after its foundation, Tecnocom focused its development on telecommunication and IT areas and this process was complemented in 2006 by a new business plan to lead the Spanish ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) market. Ever since, Tecnocom is responsible for the development, implementation and support of the Business Intelligence Competence Global Center that DANONE has in Barcelona, from which Tecnocom serves more than 30 companies in Europe, North America, South America and in the North of Africa.
