ALPHA…

What is Alpha? Alpha is a series of interactive sessions that explore the Christian faith. It is a parish tool to foster evangelization. Alpha is based on welcome and hospitality, sharing and prayer. Each session includes a meal, a talk and small group discussion. The Meal Offering a meal or snack is an essential part of Alpha. Participants are welcomed into a relaxed and friendly setting and have the opportunity to get to know one another. The Talk After the meal, a short talk is given on the Christian faith. The talks are based on the teaching of the Church, the Bible, and the personal testimony of the speaker. Topics vary from ‘Who is Jesus?’ to ‘How can I make the most of the rest of my life?’ The Small Group Conversation The small groups provide the opportunity to build trust and friendship. The role of the host (leader) is to facilitate discussion, inviting guests to share openly and honestly, without any criticism or judgment. Within the group, participants learn the art of liste- ning, reading the Scriptures and praying. The small groups often develop into prayer groups that may then become small Christian communities within the parish.

¿Qué es el Alpha? Alpha es una serie de sesiones interactivas que exploran la fe cristiana. Es una he-rramienta parroquial para fomentar la evangelización. Alpha esta fundamentado

Solo uno (el 10%) regresó para dar gracias. ¡Yo, también, he recibido muchas bendiciones del Señor – de hecho, todo lo que soy y todo lo que tengo es don! ¿Cómo y qué tan a menudo me he acordado de agradecerle a él?

Somos un pueblo de Eucaristía. Vivimos en alabanza y gracias al Señor. Vigésimo-octavo Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario Semana del 9 de octubre del 2016 Escucha la Palabra (Lucas 17:11 — 19) ¿Qué imagen de esta historia los impactó más? ¿Qué palabra o frase les llamó la atención? Ve tu vida Pregunta para los niños: Inventen una oración que diga a Dios que están agradecidos por todo lo que tienen aun cuando no tengan todo lo que quieren. Pregunta para los jóvenes: Mientras creces, el aprender a decir “gracias” es una lección importante. ¿Cuáles son algunas de las formas específicas, concretas en las que puedes mostrar tu gratitud a tus maes-tros y padres? ¿Y cuáles son algunas de las formas de demostrarle a Dios que estás agradecido? Look into your life Question for children: Make up a prayer which tells God you are thankful for everything you have, even if it’s not all you want. Question for youth: Only one of the lepers returned to give thanks. This past week, when have you stopped to thank someone for something good they have done for you? When have you thanked God this week? Question for adults: What are some ways you can think of to show gratitude to God? Make them concrete and real. Activities for the week Take these activities to further reflect: To help your family focus on giving thanks, ask each mem-ber to write a thank-you note to every other family member, thanking the family member for some of the good things he or she has done during the past year. Distribute the notes to the appropriate people. Close with a prayer thanking God for your family. Write a family prayer of thanksgiving. Have each member contribute by telling at least one thing for which they are thank-ful. Pray this prayer at mealtime each night this week. Make a list of people who serve you every week, for exam-ple, the mail carrier, store clerks, teachers, parish staff. How often do you say thank-you to those people? This week may be a good time to write short thank-you notes to them. Prepare a basket of fruit to give away. Have family members decide who to give it to in gratitude for what that person has done for your family. Make sure to include with the fruit basket a personalized note that expresses your gratitude.

Jesus healed ten lepers in today’s Gospel. Only one (10%) came back to say thank you. I, too, have received many blessing from the Lord – indeed, all I am and all I have is gift! How and how often have I remembered to thank him?
