Policy for Services During Snowstorms: When the Governor of the State of Connecticut requests that we not go out on the roads, if there is no need to, then we should follow this guidance. Also, if Schools in Town are closed because of the conditions, we too should follow that example. In regard to school “opening time” delays, please use your own judgement, keeping in mind your safety first. The Archdiocesan Insurance Company urges us not to permit traffic, mobile or walking, in the parking lot and the walkways if they are not cleared. Therefore, please be aware that Services will not be conducted if these conditions and recommendations exist.!
RCIA Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults! The process by which adults come into full communion with the Catholic Church is known as “ RCIA”, which is short for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.! Pope Francis has warned, “When a sick person is not placed at the center and considered in their dignity, attitudes arise which can even lead to profiteering on other people’s misfortunes. The growing health poverty among the poorest segments of the population is due precisely to the difficulty of access to care…” Let us pray in transforming the HHS federal mandate, religious rights of the Catholic Church will be safeguarded.!
! ! Vocation Reflections! We see John the Baptist as one who leads us to Jesus. He came to testify to the light. Rejoice; never cease praying. Let us never cease praying for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life. If you are considering a life of prayer as a priest or religious, call Fr. Jeffrey
Gubbiotti, Director of Vocations, Archdiocesan Center at St. Thomas Seminary, Tel 8602425573, email [email protected] or visit the web at www.hartfordpriest.com.!!

"Some observant parishioners have recently no-ticed that this Christmas season provides an in-teresting question: With Christmas Eve falling on a Sunday and Christmas following the very next day, can I just come once on Sunday night and be done? Should I go Saturday and Sunday? Or Sunday and Monday? Or maybe all three? Basically, when should I be coming to church?!!!
To hopefully provide a clear and simple answer, we’ll begin by saying in some rare circumstances, two Mass obli-gations will fall on back to back days. In this case, those two obli-gations are the normal Sunday Mass for December 24 (which is the Fourth Sunday of Advent) and a Christmas Mass. The generally accepted understanding when this kind of situation takes place is that the obligation for two Church feasts can only be met by attend-ing two separate Masses. With this being the case, even though going to Mass on Christmas Eve would be both a Mass on the Sun-day and the Vigil Mass for Christmas, it is not seen as a complete way to fulfill both obligations. Attending an additional Mass for the Fourth Sunday of Advent will be needed before attending your chosen Christmas Mass.!!!
All that being said, there are a number of ways to fulfill the two Mass obligations for the Christmas weekend that include Vigil Masses on the evenings before and Masses on the actual days of these wonderful celebrations. It might take a little extra planning, but it’s a great opportunity to be able to thoughtfully enter into this Christmas season. In short, we are excited to have the chance to see all of you twice on Christmas weekend! What better way could there be to celebrate the coming of Our Lord than having the chance to celebrate Mass together an extra time?"!
