DIAGNODENT (Caries Dectector)The Diagnodent is a pen-likeprobe that detects hidden decay.It works by sending a safe and

painless laser beam into the tooth and notifies the dentistwhen hidden decay is detectedby means of a numerical display and an alarm signal. FISSURE SEALANTSA fissure sealant is a protectiveplastic coating which is applied tothe deep pits and fissures presenton the biting surfaces of the backteeth in order to seal them andprevent the build up of food andbacteria that can cause toothdecay. These pits and fissures

are often too narrow and deep toclean with a toothbrush. Sealantscan be applied as soon as thepermanent teeth start to comethrough, usually between 6 and 7years of age. The whole procedureis quick and painless, taking just afew minutes for each tooth.

One of the most exciting advances in the world of dentistry is theapplication of “CAD/CAM” technology in the restoration of teeth.

By far the mostsophisticated of all computeraided dental systems is theCEREC 3D. The “CEREC”enables the dentist to design,fabricate and fit natural looking,perfectly fitting porcelaintooth restorations in a singlevisit, a procedure that wouldnormally take at least two weeks!
