How we approach our work Why and how we seek to achieve beneficial change COMMUNITY INVESTMENT AND FUNDING We are committed to helping our communities achieve their goals. We aim to do this through a proactive, evidence based approach, investing in people and communities, and facilitating opportunities for positive change. The Taranaki community is at the Trust’s heart. We are at the heart of our community. Together we are stronger; this philosophy drives our approach as a philanthropic trust, working alongside community to: Build capable, connected communies Co-design soluons for posive change Focus on long-term impact We are open and approachable, build trusted partnerships, community capacity and capability, engage experse and work with others who share our vision for posive change within our region. Our community grants are vital to maintaining the intricate fabric of our community. We also invest strategically to tackle our region’s most signicant challenges. We are willing to take risks on new ideas and approaches with potenal to deliver catalyc results and to invest with a long-term focus to achieve inter-generaonal change. Over the next ve years we believe the best opportunity to achieve benecial change is by invesng in outcomes that support and enhance child and youth wellbeing. We see a future where Taranaki tamariki (children), whānau (families) and communies are strong, resilient, connected and thriving across generaons. A future where Taranaki children, young people and whānau acvely parcipate in their communies. Our Focus for Impact is Child and Youth Wellbeing; the Early Years in a Whānau Context Engaging and invesng earlier has greater results long-term and posive outcomes later in life. Family and community are essenal to child wellbeing. We take a two-generaon approach, invesng in whānau wellbeing as well as wider community outcomes. We fund iniaves that are based on evidence, are culturally responsive and achieve shared value. Impact and innovaon are important to us – we’re prepared to try new ways to achieve greater results. We don’t have the answers; we are open to learning and will share what we and our community discover to improve child and youth wellbeing. We will invest with the intenon to achieve our Vision. COMMUNITY FUNDING We understand the signicance of our community grants towards supporng the fabric of our community. We are responsive to community requests that contribute towards our overall Vision. Our Community Funding includes Operaonal, Capital and Programme and Event Grants, Community Training and Facilitaon and Match Funding. STRATEGIC PHILANTHROPY We are focused on working strategically to achieve our Vision and priories. We do this through supporng, facilitang and engaging in strategic and collaborave relaonships, partnerships and investments. INNOVATIVE PHILANTHROPY We may contribute innovave funding to support new opportunies with a high potenal for catalyc impact developed and tested through place-based, co-designed iniaves. We take a exible and adaptable approach to funding which includes resourcing for capacity building and understanding impact. IMPACT INVESTING We may make viable investments providing social and/or nancial returns, with a focus on shared priority outcomes and signicant impact. We engage in prototyping, and place-based iniaves with the potenal to be developed (scaling up) for greater impact.
