Grant our supplication, we beseech thee, through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen. (Prayer adapted from Washington’s Circular Letter to the States, which he wrote on June 8, 1783 as the commander in chief, at this headquarters in Newburgh, New York) If you share our beliefs regarding the Lord’s Supper, we welcome you to our altar. He directed that he be flogged and interrogated in order to find out why the people were shouting at him like this. As they stretched him out to flog him, Paul said to the centurion standing there, “Is it legal for you to flog a Roman citizen who hasn’t even been found guilty?” When the centurion heard this, he went to the commander and reported it. “What are you going to do?” he asked. “This man is a Roman citizen.” The commander went to Paul and asked, “Tell me, are you a Roman citizen?” “Yes, I am,” he answered. Then the commander said, “I had to pay a lot of money for my citizenship.” “But I was born a citizen,” Paul replied. Those who were about to interrogate him withdrew immediately. The Distribution of Holy Communion The wafers are in plastic bags with 1 to 3 wafers in each bag. The wine is in individual plastic containers with lids. Each family unit will be invited forward by an usher to receive the elements after

they are blessed. We will have two tables to serve two groups at a time. Pastor or Elder (masked) will bring the appropriate count of the elements to the

table. If you would like to receive a gluten-free wafer or de-alcoholized wine, please let the Pastor or Elder know when you are at the table. You will then proceed to serve yourself the Body and Blood of Christ.

Once done, you will take plastic bags and the containers with lids and place them in the receptacle that will be near the tables and you will go back to your seats.

We will do this in a most reverent manner. I know it will seem strange to cel-ebrate the Eucharist in such a different way than we are accustomed, but our goal is to be as safe as we can and not put anyone’s health in jeopardy.

If you do not feel comfortable receiving communion then please do not come forward. We want our worship environment to feel safe for all.

Benediction and Response: Amen! Amen! Amen!

Closing Hymn 577 God Bless our Native Land

1. God bless our native land! Firm may she ever stand thro’ storm and night! When the wild tempests rave, ruler of wind and wave Do Thou our country save by Thy great might.

2. For her our prayer shall rise to God above the skies; On Him we wait. Thou who art ever nigh, Guarding with watchful eye, to Thee aloud we cry, God save the State!

JULY LAMP UPDATEAn electronic version of the July Lamp is posted to the website and was emailed to everyone on our Lamp email distribution list. We will not be doing our typical bulk mailing of the Lamp

this month so if you would like to be added to the email distribution list please email us at offi [email protected]. If you would like a physical copy of the July Lamp, printed copies are available outside the door of the Town Square (West Entrance) for you to pick up.

There is a stack of the new Portals of Prayer for July-September on a small table outside the door of the Town Square (west entrance) for anyone who wishes to pick one up. You can also go on www.cph.org and read the portals of prayer devotion each day as well.

If you lose a loved one at this time, we are once again using the sanctuary for funeral & memorial services and limiting it to 100 people. Please contact the church offi ce or the Pastors to make arrangements.

When sponsoring fl owers, PLEASE write a SEPARATE CHECK - do NOT include it in one check with your weekly off ering. Thank you!

Big Family Michigan is an agency that supports thousands of Foster children throughout Michigan by providing school supplies, birth-day bags and Christmas presents. Due to COVID 19, Big Family's many fundraisers have been cancelled. So, they are conducting a Christmas in July Toy Drive to collect NEW, UNWRAPPED

toys, gifts, gift cards and monetary do-nations while our state is open. They are looking for gifts and toys for boys and girls ages 1-18 yrs. Please consider adding a few toys in your cart over the next few weeks to help a foster child have a merry Christmas! Then drop off at church on July 18th OR to the collection box in the Town Square any-time BEFORE July 18th. For questions call Michela Ricelli Treharne 248-508-0011 or Rosemary Ricelli Scheidt 248-318-4835.
