“When I Survey the Wondrous Cross”
arranged by Gilbert Martin
When I survey the wondrous cross On which the Prince of glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss,
And pour contempt on all my pride.
Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast, Save in the death of Christ my God!
All the vain things that charm me most, I sacrifice them to His blood.
See from His head, His hands, His feet, Sorrow and love flow mingled down!
Did e’er such love and sorrow meet, Or thorns compose so rich a crown?
Were the whole realm of nature mine, That were a present far too small;
Love so amazing, so divine, Demands my soul, my life, my all. Amen.
- Based on the text by Isaac Watts and the tune by Lowell Mason
Worship NotesWorship NotesWorship NotesWorship Notes Today is Palm Sunday. This day marks the
beginning of Holy Week and commemorates Jesus'
triumphal entry into Jerusalem. The liturgical color
for the day is purple, which symbolizes the royalty
of Christ.
- adapted from The United Methodist Book of Worship
The palms that the children are processing with
today are “Eco-Palms”, Environmentally and
Socially Responsible Palms for the Easter
Season. That means the money we spend on the
palms is directly benefitting the communities where
the palms are harvested. The extra nickel we
spend per palm can send young girls to school,
employ women, and build community centers. The
palms are also being harvested in an
environmentally friendly way. These new
harvesting practices ensure that the same quality
palms we use today will be there for years to
come.
