When you get hired by a district, you will have many, many responsibilities. These are outlined in the Employee Handbook/Guide. It is your responsibility to know what you are supposed to do…ask lots of questions.

You will work with many types of people in many different settings. You will participate in several professional learning communities.

What you teach depends on the Common Core or State Standards for your subject and grade level.

Your books start with rules and consequences…but this is only part of it.

Your can’t demand respect….you earn it by your teaching style, your knowledge, and good lesson planning.

Enthusiasm is criticalLove your subject…be a geek about it. Know a

lot!!! Keep learning about it on weekends and vacations.

Have a passion for teaching…live for it! Be willing to spend your own money for really good stuff.

A) Read handout from Emmer/Evertson – 2 classroomsB) Read Chapter 2 in ThompsonC) Create classroom rules for your classroom. Post them on

your wiki so that students would be able to access them.D) Reflect how you might set up your room in order to

create a sense of organization. What might you provide/set up in order for students to know where to find assignments they lost, where to return current assignments, where to put late assignments. What procedures might you use to assist you to accomplish tasks promptly. Post this in a reflections section of your wiki.
