When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always befollowed, including the following:

Read all instructions before installation or use of the coffee system.

Please read these instructionscarefully to prevent accidents andmachine damage.

This appliance is for household useonly. Any other use is notrecommended by the manufacturerand could be dangerous.

This appliance complies with currentsafety requirements. Improper use ofthe appliance can cause personalinjury and material damage.

The manufacturer cannot be heldresponsible for damage caused byimproper use of the appliance.

Electrical safetyBefore connecting the appliance tothe electrical supply, make sure

that the voltage and frequency listed onthe data plate correspond with thehousehold electrical supply. If in doubt,consult a qualified electrician.

Be certain your appliance isproperly installed and grounded by

a qualified technician.To guarantee the electrical safety of thisappliance, continuity must existbetween the appliance and an effectivegrounding system. It is imperative thatthis basic safety requirement be met. Ifthere is any doubt, have the electricalsystem of the house checked by aqualified electrician. The manufacturercannot be held responsible fordamages caused by the lack, orinadequacy, of an effective groundingsystem.

The appliance must be built intocabinetry before operation to

ensure that no electrical componentsare accessible. Ensure that electricalpower is not supplied to the appliancewhile installation work, repairs ormaintenance is performed.

Do not use an extension cord toconnect the appliance to electricity.

Extension cords do not guarantee therequired safety of the appliance(danger of overheating).

Never open the housing of theappliance. Tampering with

electrical connections or componentsand mechanical parts is dangerous andmay cause machine damage.

Before service or maintenance,disconnect the power supply by

either removing the fuse, "tripping" thecircuit breaker or unplugging the unit.

Never use a steam cleaner to cleanthe appliance. Pressurized steam

could damage electrical componentsand cause a short circuit.

To protect against fire, electricshock and injury do not submerge

the cord or plugs in water or otherliquids.

Do not operate the appliance if thecord or plug has been damaged,

or if the appliance malfunctions or isdamaged in any way. Please contactthe Miele Technical ServiceDepartment.

Do not let the cord hang over theedge of the table or counter, or

touch hot surfaces.

InstallationInstallation work and repairs shouldonly be performed by a trained

technician to ensure safety. Repairsand other work by unauthorizedpersons could be dangerous.

This equipment has not beendesigned for maritime use or for

use in mobile installations such asaircraft or recreational vehicles.However, under certain circumstancesit may be possible for installation inthese applications. Please contact theMiele Technical Service Departmentwith specific requirements.

Before the appliance is connected,the steam selector must be in the

off position to prevent an uncontrolledescape of steam or hot water andpossible burns.

Always attach the plug to theappliance first, then plug the cord

into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turnthe program selector to "Off", thenremove the plug from the wall outlet.

Use

The coffee system must be cleaneddaily to prevent the growth ofharmful bacteria and mold. Pleaseread the "Coffee system care"section of this manual.

Warning: Danger of scalding. Theliquids dispensed and the nozzlesthemselves are very hot.

The hot water and steamdispensed from the machine could

cause burns. Use these functionscarefully. Never direct the steam nozzletowards your body or use this machineto clean objects.

To prevent burns, turn the steamselector to the "o" position when not

needed.

The steam nozzle and hot waterdispensers become very hot

during use. Always grip the steamnozzle by the insulated collar.

Do not touch hot surfaces. Use thehandles or knobs.

Allow the coffee system to coolbefore putting on or taking off

parts, and before cleaning.

Children should not use theappliance unsupervised.

Do not useoutdoors.

The use of accessory attachmentsnot recommended by the

appliance manufacturer may result infire, electric shock or injury.

The water lines must be flushedand the machine cleaned

thoroughly before the first coffee isprepared.

Only fill the water tank with cold,fresh drinking water. The water

must be changed daily to preventbacteria or mold growth.

Program modeThe coffee system can be customizedto each household through the"program mode."

To program the appliance:

^ Turn the program selector to"Program mode".

The appliance is now in program modeand will respond according to thesymbols shown under the coffeeserving buttons.

^ By pressing the - or e button,

– a programming option in themessage window can be highlightedwith an asterisk.

– the settings of the variousprogramming options can beadjusted.

^ By pressing ENTER,

– a programming option highlightedwith an asterisk can be selected.

– a change to the programmedsettings is saved.

If a setting is accidentally changed,turn the program selector to "0ff"instead of confirming it with ENTER.The changed setting will not be savedand the original setting will be retained.

Choosing a languageThe language for the commands in themessage window should be selectedbefore the machine is used.

The following languages are available:English, Spanish, French, German,Dutch, Portuguese and Italian.

^ Turn the program selectorcounterclockwise to "Program mode."

The following will appear in themessage window:

Programming option "LANGUAGE" willbe highlighted with an asterisk.

^ Press ENTER to select thisprogramming option.

The sub-menu will appear in themessage window.

^ Press the e button until the desiredlanguage appears (english, espanol,francais, deutsch, nederlands,portugues or italiano).

^ Press ENTER to save this setting, orturn the program selector to "0ff" tocancel if a mistake has been made.

All text in the message window will nowappear in the selected language.

Rinsing featureThe rinsing feature flushes out coffeeresidue and pre-warms the coffeesystem. When "Rinsing - On" is selectedthe system will automatically be flushedand pre-warmed when the appliance isturned on. If this feature is set to"Rinsing - Off" the system will only beflushed and pre-warmed when therinse/pre-warm button is pressed.

^ Turn the program selectorcounterclockwise to "Program mode."

^ Press the e button, to highlight"RINSING" with an asterisk.

^ Press ENTER to select thisprogramming option.

The sub-menu will appear in themessage window.

^ Press button e, to turn the "Rinsing"feature on or off.

^ Press ENTER to save this setting, orturn the program selector to "0ff" tocancel if a mistake has been made.

Determining the waterhardnessThe hardness of the water (tap orbottled) used in the coffee system mustbe determined and programmed intothe appliance. The water hardness willdetermine how frequently the unit mustbe descaled to maintain the coffeesystem properly. The machine monitorsthe volume of water passing through itin conjunction with the hardness of thewater and will indicate when descalingis necessary. Your local water authoritycan tell you the hardness of your tapwater or you can measure the hardnessyourself using the enclosed test strip.

^ Dip the strip in your drinking water forone second, then shake off excesswater.

The result will be evident after a minute.

If the water hardness is greater than40 gr/gal (700 ppm), the water mustbe mixed in equal parts withnon-carbonated mineral water toprevent excessive limescalebuild-up. Never use distilled water.

Setting the drink temperaturesThe appliance can be set at differenttemperatures to suit varying coffeedrinking preferences.Five temperature levels are available foreach drink option.

^ Turn the program selectorcounterclockwise to "Program mode."

^ Press the e button to highlight adrink option"TEMP. L. COFFEE" (long),"TEMP COFFEE" (regular) or"TEMP. S. COFFEE" (espresso)with an asterisk.

A different temperature can beprogrammed for each drink.

^ Press ENTER to select the option.

Depending on the programming optionselected, the sub-menu is shown in themessage window as follows:

^ Press the e button to set the temp-erature to minimum, low, medium,high or maximum.

^ Press ENTER to save this setting, orturn the program selector to "0ff" tocancel if a mistake has been made.

Pre-brewing featureWhen the pre-brewing feature is on, thefreshly ground coffee is moistened witha little hot water to allow the aroma andcrema of the coffee to fully develop.

When the pre-brewing feature is off, thehot water is forced through the coffeeimmediately.

^ Turn the program selectorcounterclockwise to "Program mode."

^ Press the e button to highlight"PREBREWING" with an asterisk.

^ Press ENTER to select this option.

The sub-menu will appear in themessage window.

^ Press the e button to set thepre-brewing process on, off or to"long" (an extra long pre-brew).

^ Press ENTER to save this setting, orturn the program selector to "0ff" tocancel if a mistake has been made.

When making coffee with theprebrewing feature on, "PREBREWING"will appear in the message windowafter the coffee has been ground.

Pre-grinding featureThe pre-grinding feature allows a newportion of beans to be ground aftereach coffee is dispensed, so there isalways ground coffee ready. This savestime if coffee is dispensed frequently.To preserve aroma, the pre-grindingfeature should be turned off when onlypreparing coffee occasionally.

^ Turn the program selectorcounterclockwise to "Program mode".

^ Press the e button to highlight"PREGRINDING" with an asterisk.

^ Press ENTER to select this option.

The sub-menu will appear in themessage window.

^ Press the e button to turn thepre-grinding feature on or off.

^ Press ENTER to save this setting, orturn the program selector to "0ff" tocancel if a mistake has been made.

Hot water featureWhen the feature "Programmed hotwater" is turned on, the machine willdispense a precise, pre-programmedquantity of hot water when the hot waterbutton d is pressed. When the featureis turned off, the machine will dispensehot water until the hot water button dis pressed again.

^ Turn the program selectorcounterclockwise to "Program mode".

^ Press the e button to highlight"PROG. H. WATER" with an asterisk.

^ Press ENTER to select this option.

The sub-menu will appear in themessage window.

^ Press the e button to set the featureon or off.

^ Press ENTER to save this setting, orturn the program selector to "0ff" tocancel if a mistake has been made.

Total coffee counterThe feature "Total coffee" will display thenumber of cups of coffee (espresso,coffee and long coffee) that have beendispensed to date.

^ Turn the program selectorcounterclockwise to "Program mode."

^ Press the e button to highlight"TOTAL COFFEE" with an asterisk.

^ Press ENTER to select this option.

The number of coffees that have beendispensed will be displayed in themessage window.

^ Press ENTER to return to the mainmenu.

Setting the standby timerTo help create a more energy efficientcoffee system the machine can be setto power down after a programmedtime period.The standby time can be set in15 minute increments up to 3 hours.

The time is measured from the last timea drink was dispensed.

^ Turn the program selectorcounterclockwise to "Program mode".

^ Press the e button to highlight"TIMER" with an asterisk.

^ Press ENTER to select this option.

The sub-menu will appear in themessage window.

^ Press the e or - button to select therequired length of time. The time canbe set in 15 minute increments.

^ Press ENTER to save this setting, orturn the program selector to "0ff" tocancel if a mistake has been made.

If the rinse feature is set to "On" and adrink was already dispensed, thesystem will be rinsed automaticallybefore going into standby.

The coffee system can be locked sothat it cannot be used by children orthose not familiar with the operatinginstructions.

Activating the system lock

^ Turn the program selectorcounterclockwise to the "Lock"position.

The following will appear in themessage window:

^ Press and hold the - button for10 seconds.

The following appears in the messagewindow:

The appliance is now locked and willnot operate. The system will remainlocked and the lighting will remainturned off even if the program selectoris turned.

Deactivating the system lock

^ Turn the program selectorcounterclockwise to the "Lock"position.

The following will appear in themessage window:

^ Press and hold the - button for10 seconds.

The following appears in the messagewindow:

The machine is now unlocked andready for use.

The appliance must be correctlyinstalled and connected before thefirst use. Please see the “Installationinstructions.”

Before using the coffee system, certainparts need to be cleaned and the waterlines need to be flushed.

^ Hand wash with hot water and liquiddish soap or if removable place in thedishwasher:

– coffee bean container,

– coffee and hot water dispensers,

– steam nozzle.

Be aware that with frequent cleaningin the dishwasher food remnantse.g. tomato sauce, may cause partsto discolor.

^ Hand wash with hot water and liquiddish soap:

– water tank.

^ Rinse thoroughly with warm water:

– brew unit,

– drip sponge.

^ Flush the system twice to make surethat all water lines are clean.

See "Coffee system care" for moreinformation.

Filling the water tankThe water tank must be washed andfilled with fresh drinking water beforeeach day of use.

A reminder will appear in the messagewindow when the unit is first turned on.

^ Open the front of the machine.

^ Lift the water tank up and out of theappliance.

^ Open the lid and fill the containerwith cold drinking water to withinabout 1" (2 cm) of the top.

Never add hot water or any otherliquid except cold water to the watertank.

^ Close the lid and place the tank inthe machine, pushing it straightback.

Filling the coffee beancontainer

Only put pure espresso or coffeebeans in the container. Anything elsewill damage the grinder, i.e. groundcoffee, hot cocoa, instant coffee, ortreated coffee beans (flavorings,caramel, or sugar).

Do not remove the coffee beancontainer from the appliance unlessit is completely empty, otherwisecoffee beans will spill out.

^ Carefully pull the container out as faras it will go so that the lid is visible.Lift the lid.

^ Fill the container with coffee beans towithin about 1" (2 cm) of the top.

^ Close the lid and push the containerback into place.

^ Shut the appliance door.

The flavor of the coffee depends on thetype of coffee, how finely the beans areground and the quantity of water used.To ensure the machine uses exactly theamount of water to suit your taste andyour cups, there is a choice of threeserving sizes for espresso/coffee.

The espresso button a dispenses astandard size espresso.

The coffee button b dispenses coffeefor a standard size coffee cup. It usesthe same quantity of ground coffee asan espresso, but adds more water.

The long coffee button c dispensesmore water, suitable for a large coffeecup or mug. Only the volume of water isincreased, resulting in a milder flavor.

The volume of water dispensed byeach button can be adjusted to yourtaste.

Adjusting the coffee dispensers

The height of the coffee dispensers areadjustable to suit different cup sizes.

^ Gently pull the dispensers up ordown.

Coffee and espresso

^ Turn the program selector clockwiseto the "On" position (with or withoutlighting).

The following will appear in themessage window:

If the machine is cold and the rinsingfeature has been selected, the followingmessage will then be displayed:

Once the water is hot, the followingappears in the message window:

^ Place a cup under the two coffeedispensers.

Coffee is always dispensedsimultaneously from both spouts.

^ Press and hold the coffee servingbutton appropriate to the size of cupuntil the cup is full as desired.Release the coffee serving button.

The following appears in the messagewindow during this process:

The procedure is the same for the othertwo coffee serving buttons.

The programmed volume will now bedispensed every time that coffeeserving button is pressed.

Hot waterTo program the volume of hot waterdispensed, the hot water feature mustbe programmed "on".(See "Programming/Hot water feature").

^ Turn the program selector clockwiseto the "On" position (with or withoutlighting).

The following will appear in themessage window:

If the machine is cold and the rinsingfeature has been selected, the followingmessage will then be displayed:

Once the water is hot, the following willappear in the message window:

^ Place a cup under the hot waterdispenser.

^ Press and hold the hot water buttond. There will be a few secondsdelay before water is dispensed.When the cup is full as desiredrelease the hot water button d.

The following appears in the messagewindow during this procedure:

If the feature "Prog. hot water" is "off",the machine will continue to dispensehot water until the hot water button dis pressed again.

Pre-warmingThe pre-warm feature allows the systemand the cups to be pre-warmed to fullydevelop the flavor and aroma of yourcoffee.

Pre-warming cups

^ Place the cup under the hot waterdispenser.

^ Press the hot water button d andhalf fill the cup.

^ Press the hot water button d againto stop.

CappuccinoCold, 2% milk is best for creating froth.Ideally it should be prepared in a cold,stainless steel pitcher.

^ Fill a small, cold, stainless steelpitcher a third of the way with coldmilk while dispensing espresso.

^ Direct the steam nozzle toward thedrip tray and slowly turn the steamselector counterclockwise.

Any condensed water in the nozzle willbe expelled.

^ As soon as steam appears from thenozzle, shut the steam off by turningthe steam selector clockwise, to the"o" position.

^ Position the steam nozzle just belowthe surface of the milk in the pitcherand slowly turn the steam selectorcounterclockwise.

^ Move the pitcher in circles until athick froth appears, then lower thenozzle deeper into the milk to heatthe rest.

Adjusting the coffee grinder

To prevent machine damage, theslide control for the coffee grindersetting should be moved carefullyand in small adjustments.

– If the espresso flows too quickly intothe cup, the beans have beenground too coarsely. The grindershould be adjusted to a finer setting.

– If the espresso only trickles into thecup, the beans have been groundtoo fine and the coffee will be bitter.The grinder should be adjusted to acoarser setting.

– If the crema is evenly colored butpale, the ground coffee is too coarse.

– If the crema is very dark brown onone side, graduating almost to whiteon the other, the ground coffee is toofine.

To adjust the grinder setting

^ Push the upper slide control to theleft for finer grinding or to the right forcoarser grinding.

You should be able to feel thenotches when moving the slidecontrol.

If the slide control will not move:

^ Close the machine and dispense acup of coffee. Then try to move theslide control again.

Setting the quantityBoth the flavor and crema of the coffeedepend on the quantity of groundcoffee used. The greater the quantity,the stronger the flavor will be.

The quality of the crema is also affectedby the quantity:

– If the crema is evenly colored butpale, increase the quantity setting.

– If the crema is very dark brown onone side, graduating almost to whiteon the other, decrease the quantitysetting.

Drip catch

The drip catch has a red float that willrise when the catch is full. The catchshould be cleaned when the float risesand at the end of each day to preventspills and odors.

^ Remove the metal grate and plastictray from the drip catch and clean byhand with warm water and liquid dishsoap or place in the dishwasher. Becareful not to loose the red float.

^ Open the appliance door.

^ Take the drip catch out of theappliance. Clean it by hand withwarm water and liquid dish soap orplace in the dishwasher.

^ Dry all parts and replace them in thereverse order.

^ Close the door.

Waste unit

^ Lift the waste unit up and out.

^ Clean the waste unit by hand with hotwater and liquid dish soap or place inthe dishwasher.

^ Push the waste unit back into place,positioning it over the notches.

If "WASTEUNIT MISSING" appearsin the message window aftercleaning, the waste unit was notseated correctly. Reposition the unit.Close the door and press ENTER.

The appliance will not operate whenthis message appears.

Steam valveClean the steam valve after every use, itbecomes harder to clean once the milkhas dried.

^ Loosen the upper screw, a, and pullthe sleeve of the steam valve down,b.

^ Clean the sleeve with warm waterand liquid dish soap (or in thedishwasher) and dry.

^ Push the sleeve onto the steamnozzle, a, and tighten the screw, b.

Brew unit

Clean the brew unit by hand only.The moving parts and the rubbergaskets cannot be cleaned in adishwasher.

Lubricate the brew unit with theenclosed silicon every 500 cups(see "Lubricating the brew unit").

^ Remove the waste unit. The brew unitcan only be removed after the wasteunit has been taken out.

^ Hold the brew unit with the handleand press down with your thumb on"PRESS".

^ Pull the brew unit out.

^ Clean the brew unit thoroughly underrunning warm water. Do not usedetergent.

^ Rub away any coffee residues fromthe filters with a sponge.

One filter is in the funnel, the second isto the left of the funnel. The secondfilter is removable (see "Cleaning thebrew unit filters".)

^ Dry the funnel to prevent groundcoffee from sticking.

^ After cleaning press "PRESS".

^ Push the brew unit in the trackstraight into the appliance withoutpressing "PRESS" until it clicks intoplace.

Rinsing cycle:Degreasing the brew unit

The natural oil found in coffee cancause the brew unit to clog. Themessage "Rinsing cycle" will flash in themessage window after 500 cups toremind you to clean the unit with theenclosed detergent tablets. Thesecleaning tablets can be purchasedfrom your Miele dealer or the MieleTechnical Service Department.

^ Remove the waste unit.

^ Take out the brew unit and put thedetergent tablet in the brew unitfunnel.

^ Return the brew unit and waste unitto the appliance and close the door.

^ Set a 3 cup (25 oz) container underthe coffee dispensers.

^ Press the rinse/pre-warm button e.(The unit must be pre-heated andready to use otherwise the button willnot respond.)

The display will read:

^ Press e, to select "Rinsing cycle" withthe asterisk.

^ Press ENTER.

The display will read:

A small amount of water will flow out ofthe coffee dispensers. After a pausemore water will flow out. This processwill run 4 times, dispensing 2 cups (17oz) of hot water. The whole process willtake about 5 minutes.

^ At the end of the cleaning cycle thedisplay will read:

The brew unit is now clean and ready touse.

Cleaning the brew unit filters

^ Wipe away any coffee residues fromthe steel filter in the funnel of thebrew unit with a sponge.

The chrome filter to the left of thefunnel can be removed for thoroughcleaning. Check and clean the chromefilter regularly.

^ Remove the brew unit.

^ Fit the enclosed allen wrench to theconnection point (see illustration) inthe brew unit. Turn itcounterclockwise while supportingthe chrome filter from below.

^ Remove the chrome filter with thescrew.

^ Clean the filter with hot water and dry.

^ Return the chrome filter to the brewunit and secure it by turning the allenwrench clockwise. Press slightlyagainst the filter to allow threading.

Lubricating the brew unit

^ Remove the brew unit.

Check that the brew unit is in the basicposition with the funnel slightly liftedand the socket in the vertical position(see illustration).

^ Lubricate the joints, a, the axle, b,the tracks, c, and the gasket, d,with silicon grease.

^ Clean and lubricate the bolt, a, andthe joints, b.

^ Return the brew unit to the appliance.

Change the gaskets

^ If a leak occurs change the gaskets.

Three gaskets are enclosed with themachine. One gasket is locatedbetween the steam valve and thesleeve. The other two gaskets arelocated behind the brew unit at thewater feed tube.

Changing the light bulb

Before changing the light bulbs,disconnect the appliance from thepower supply by either removing thefuse, unplugging it, or manually"tripping" the circuit breaker.

When in use the halogen bulbsbecome extremely hot, and they canburn your hands. Do not attempt tochange the bulbs until they havehad sufficient time to cool.

Do not touch the bulb surface.Fingerprints or body oils depositedon the bulb will decrease its life.Please follow the bulbmanufacturer’s instructions.

^ Open the appliance door.

^ Insert a small screw driver into theopening and carefully press up, a.

^ At the same time pull the light coverdown, b.

^ Pull the old bulb out of its socket.

^ Replace with a new bulb(12 V, 5 watts).

^ Close the lamp cover.

The coffee system must be descaledregularly. The time period depends onthe water hardness set. The appliancewill display a reminder message andwill eventually lock if not descaled.

The message window will first display:"DESCALE AFTER COFFEES: 100“.

This message will appear until theappliance is descaled or locks. Whenthe count is down to zero, theappliance will lock and the messagewindow displays:

The appliance can only be used againonce descaling has been performed.

Let the machine cool beforedescaling. Remove the sleeve of thesteam nozzle to avoid damage fromthe descaling agent.Only use the enclosed descalingtablets for descaling.The descaling tablets are speciallydesigned for descaling this coffeesystem. Other agents may damagethe machine and affect the taste ofthe coffee and hot water. Thedescaling tablets can be purchasedfrom Miele.To prevent damage to the exterior ofthe machine wipe up any descalingsolution spills immediately!

^ Add 2 liters of water to the watertank. Dissolve two of the encloseddescaling tablets in the water.

^ Close the water tank and insert intoposition.

^ Close the door.

The descaling will take place in theautomatic descaling program.

Automatic descaling

^ Turn the program selectorcounterclockwise to the "Programmode" position.

^ Press e, to select "Descaling" withthe asterisk.

^ Press ENTER.

^ Place a 1 liter container below the hotwater dispenser.

^ Place a 1 liter container below thesteam nozzle and turn the steamselector counterclockwise.

The coffee system will begin theautomatic descaling. The display willread:

Do not open the door duringdescaling and do not turn theprogram selector to "0ff". This willinterrupt the descaling process. Ifthe process is interrupted, add waterto the reservoir, turn the programselector back to "Program mode"and close the door. Also, empty thecontainers under the dispensers andsteam nozzle as more water will beexpelled.

The pump will introduce a small amountof descaling solution into the system,then rest briefly to allow the solution totake effect. The process lasts about30 minutes.

Throughout the process, check thecollecting containers to make sure thatthey do not overflow.

When descaling is complete, thedisplay will read:

Arabica is a high quality coffee bean. Itis long and flat and with a grooverunning around it. The caffeine contentis between 0.8 and 1.3 %. It is strongand aromatic, but less bitter than theRobusta bean.

Caffè is the Italian term for a standardespresso.

Caffè americano is a thin espressowith water added.

Caffè corretto is espresso with a dashof something stronger such as aliqueur.

Caffè freddo is iced espresso. Anextended version of espresso servedwith ice.

Caffè latte is a double espresso in alarge cup filled with hot milk, toppedwith little or no foam.

Caffè mocha consists of one thirdespresso, one third hot milk and onethird cocoa.

Caffè ristretto is the strongest mostconcentrated espresso. The water isreduced to 2 tablespoons (30 ml) perserving.

Caffeine - the caffeine content ofespresso is only a third or half thecaffeine found in coffee. The strongerthe roast, the less caffeine the espressowill contain.

Cappuccino is espresso with frothedmilk. It is equal parts espresso, hot milkand foam.

Cappuccino chiaro is a "light"cappuccino with less espresso andmore hot milk.

Cappuccino scuro is a "dark"cappuccino with more espresso andless hot milk.

Cappuccino senza schiuma is acappuccino without the froth.

Crema is the sign of the perfect cup ofespresso - a fine, nut or cinnamonbrown foam on the surface of theespresso, which is only created whenthe pressure is sufficiently high. Thecrema contains foamed oils which arerich in flavor and aroma.

Espresso corto is a "short", strongespresso.

Espresso doppio is a double portion ofespresso.

Espresso lungo is a longer, lessconcentrated version of espressoserved in a standard coffee cup.

Espresso ristretto is a doublestrength, bitter tasting espresso.

Macchiato is espresso with a dollop ofhot, foamed milk giving a dappled(macchiato) appearance.
