Their fleet includes 3 self propelled foragers, 15 tractors and 4 combines and this year two Strautmann CFS loader wagons joined their fleet. Their foraging acreage now exceeds 8000 per year plus they also harvest 1000 acres of whole- crop and another 1000 acres maize. Will Keel (Alvis Contracting) commented “…we hadn’t previously thought about investing in a loader wagon however we were finding that there was becoming more demand in this area. We like to offer a wide range of services and be able to provide what the customers want”. “With no previous experience with loader wagons using a local dealer was very important, as was the build quality when we considered purchasing a machine for the first time. We are fortunate to have a Strautmann dealer JW & TJ Pearce Ltd. just two miles from our yard. We expressed our interest in a loader wagon to them as we had seen a working model of the Strautmann pickup and CFS system at a previous agricultural show. After comparing the Strautmann with other machines on the market we could see the advantages that the CFS might provide”. “We first used our new wagon in April 2012 and were impressed with how easily the pickup handled the crop. We were expecting the season to be wet and needed the capacity to turn up at a farm and cover 100 acres in a short window – we then ordered a second machine in May. The two wagons sur- prised us by managing to pick up just over 100 acres within a ten hour day. The CFS gives very consistent chop length and customers now feeding the silage have commented they are very pleased with the results. The consistent chop length also means the wagons are evenly filled so that the best use of loading space is obtained. The build quality and reliability is excellent, floatation tyres and rear-steer ax- les have been a real advantage in small fields and the air braking system pulls up well and does not lock up when empty. We would have originally considered ourselves to be self-propelled contac- tors but the Strautmann CFS loader wagon has extinguished the thinking that loader wagons are slow and unreliable”. Alvis Contracting, based in North Somerset, operate a large agricultural contracting business under-taking all types of agricultural, equine and amenity work. Their fleet includes 3 self propelled foragers, 15 tractors and 4 combines and this year two Strautmann CFS loader wagons joined their fleet.

Their foraging acreage now exceeds 8000 per year plus they also harvest 1000 acres of whole-crop and another 1000 acres maize.
