CONVEYANCE OF MAILS.

TENDERS for the following Mail Service, for the period1 commencing on the 8th August, 1903, and terminating atthree months' notice on either side, will be received at theOffice of the Deputy Postmaster- General, Sydney, up to half -past Two p.m. on Wednesday, the 17th prox.:-

To and from Boppy Mountain and Canbelego, twice a day.Every tender must state the names in full and the residences

or business addresses and the occupations of the tenderer, andof two respectable and responsible persons willing to join withthe tenderer in a bond in a form approved by the Postmaster -General, guaranteeing the safety of the mails and the dueperformance of the contract, the penal sum in which bond willbe double the annual amount payable under the contract. Ten-derers are requested, if possible, to state the name and addressof some person or firm in Sydney to whom notices in connexionwith the tender or contract may be sent.

'.1 enderers must in each case state how they propose to carrymails, and must furnish a description of the kind of vehicle (wheresuch mode of conveyance is intended) which they propose to use ;preference will, however, be given to tenders to convey mails bywheeled vehicle licensed to carry passengers.

Every tender must be signed by the tenderer and sureties, andattested by a magistrate or postmaster.

Tenders must be addressed to the Deputy Postmaster- General,Sydney, and indorsed " Tender for Conveyance of Mails."

On every tender there must be indorsed a certificate by amagistrate that the tenderer and his sureties are respectableand responsible persons.

All tenders which do not comply with the foregoing con-ditions, or are not received before the time specified, will beliable to be rejected as informal.

Unless Contractors and their sureties sign the bonds withintwenty -one days after a notice signed by the Deputy Post-master- General, Sydney, requesting them so to do, shall havebeen pasted to the Contractor, the Postmaster- General maycancel the acceptance of tenders.

The present hours of starting from each post -office or stage,and other particulars, may be ascertained at the General PostOffice, Sydney, where parties proposing to tender are invited toseek information.

Printed forms of tender may be obtained on application atthe General and other post offices throughout the State, andpersons tendering are requested to fill up such forms with greatcare.

The Postmaster- General does not bind himself to accept thelowest or any tender.

The conditions. will be the same as those in the advertisementdated the 5th September, 1902, and published in the Common-wealth Gazette of 12th September, 1902, and tenders will not beconsidered unless in accordance therewith.

There will be no objection to other suitable business beingconducted by the successful applicant, but a separate room orapartment must be provided for post - office, &c., and postalbusiness must have first consideration. Satisfactory evidencemust be furnished by applicants as to character and fitness.

Tperannum for the first sixteen months, and at the rate of

hirteen thousand pounds (£I3,003) per annum for the re-mainder of the terni ; and that payment be made to the UnionSteam -ship Company of New Zealand Limited from the 1stJanuary to the 30th September, 903 when the new contractcontes into operation at the rate previously paid, for the con -veyance of mails between Victoria and Tasmania, under theterms and conditions of the late contract.
