Phone: 2522 6500 E-mail: [email protected] www.sinac.go.cr /cr.sinac @sinac_cr 1/2 Programa de Turismo Sostenible en Areas SIlvestres Protegidas This investment will be allotted to several initiatives, such as: • To develop the training for SINAC to improve their sustainable tourism management, as well as, strengthen their administrative-financial management, and develop a Marketing strategy to promote the Wildlife Protected Areas as tourist destinations. • To benefit Local governments with project financing for improvements on access roads to Wildlife Protected Areas (WPA) and works that mitigate environmental impact that may affect critical areas or micro-regions linked to the PWA`s involved in the project. • To build trails in Tortuguero National Park and Manuel Antonio National Park, as well as, a pier in the Caño Negro National Wildlife Refuge, and roadway improvements towards the Rincón de la Vieja National Park and some other action plans. • Hiring and training of additional Ecotourism local guides.

The Municipalities also will be available to qualify to fund for urban planning, development and their working tools.

The private sector may receive funding benefits through technical studies, technical assistance, and training.

Local community and organized members close to PWAs that are involved in the project, may receive benefits such small business administration courses, Environmental management courses, Business plan development, First Aid training, good environmental practices courses, and other subjects identified by the study to be in need.

Costa Rica has 4.7 million inhabitants in 20100 square miles and maintains about 30% of their territory under environmental protection. This is an important area for its major touristic attractions.

According to the SINAC estimations, these projects will be concluded by October 2016.
