THE STATUS OF LIBERAL DEMOCRACY IN THE ERA OF AUTHORITARIAN POWERS The increase of the economic influence of illiberal democracies, as well as, authoritarian powers, challenges the international post-war order. 30 years after the
Fukuyama’s End of History, liberal democracy faces a significant competitor, elected but completely illiberal governments with significant economic and military
power. Will this provide a plausible alternative to liberal democracy, for the first time after the end of the Cold War? Will authoritarian capitalism act as the
normative counter-force to liberal democracy in the 21st century?

CONFLICT RESOLUTION IN SOUTHEAST UKRAINE With a new government in Kyiv and renewed efforts to bring Russia and Ukraine together in the Normandy format, new hopes emerged for progress in Donbas
conflict resolution. Prisoner exchanges, partial withdrawals of troops and a partial ceasefire have all improved conditions on the ground. Russian and Ukrainian
interests have been the keys to progress thus far. But what about the wider international community’s role? What steps and investments could be undertaken by
European states, international organizations, and in the context of deeply hostile US-Russia relations to advance the goals of conflict resolution, reconciliation and
reconstruction?

TOWARDS A SUSTAINABLE HEALTHCARE POLICY IN GREECE:
UNLOCKING VALUE THROUGH PHARMA The aim is to have a multi-stakeholders discussion about fostering/supporting innovation under fiscal constraints and at the same time enhance the
sustainability and resilience of the Greek healthcare system. The experience of the past 10 years has shown that despite the different attempts to get reformed,
the Greek healthcare system has reached its limits. We live in an era of unprecedented breakthroughs in medical technologies, where advances in in biomedical
sciences and investment in research & development by the pharmaceutical industry are delivering new, innovative therapies across all disease areas. At the same
time pharmaceutical innovation helps to reduce costs in other parts of the health and social care system and also bring significant investment in the country via
clinical trials at the local hospitals and by fostering collaboration between foreign and local pharma companies.

ROUND TABLE ON GLOBAL INVESTMENT CHALLENGES, OPPORTUNITIES AND GOVERNANCE Global FDI flows have declined in each of the past three years and while equity portfolio flows to emerging economies have on the whole been positive through
2018-19, they remain volatile and vulnerable to confidence shocks. The next decade will see a continuing rapid evolution in the environment for international
investment. While the immediate macroeconomic picture has improved in the last six months, it is still highly vulnerable to a worsening in international trade
tensions, heightened geopolitical risks, or shifts in central bank monetary strategy.

FUTURE INNOVATION ECOSYSTEMS Innovation is changing, and becoming less of an art and more of a science. Innovation processes are increasingly systematized, and there is a fast-expanding global
knowledge base on innovation environments, frameworks and techniques. The ways in which organizations engage in innovation - and the tools they use to do so -
are also evolving. Advancements in technologies such as data analytics, AI, computer simulation, social networks and others are enabling new ways to: perform
innovation, design and development; engage with customers; understand market and technology trends; source design and engineering concepts; run experiments
and try products; mobilize resources across organizational boundaries and economy wide; and to do more, much more.

SUSTAINABILITY & MODERN LIVING Living sustainably is not straightforward. The information we read and is confusing and our lifestyles move so quickly that it can be hard to know what to
prioritize as well as to sift the facts from the noise. How can we re-use and recycle more and better? What alternatives exist to polluting? How can we avoid
catastrophe and live well? How can Greece benefit from a growing consumer focus on sustainable living? We’ll hear from leading thinkers and social
entrepreneurs who are dedicating their energies to these knotty problems and navigating a way through that will work for Greece and for the world. What
happens when corporations, foundations, entrepreneurs, academics and consumers, combine forces to change the system?

THE SEA AND THE OCEANS, THE NEW FRONTIER OF HUMANITY During the 20th century technology drove human activities towards the exploitation of land resources. Today's new technological environment, together with
Globalisation, leads more and more to the opposite direction: towards the seas and the oceans. Becoming aware of the emergence of a new era in the old divide
between land and sea and preparing, both materially and intellectually, for this major change is one of the most important challenges of our societies and of our
economies. This session will address these issues from the perspective of the analyst, of the practitioner and of the educator.

LE RETOUR DE LA GÉOPOLITIQUE (the discussion will be held in French; simultaneous translation in English & Greek available)
In the Social Sciences France has often played a pioneering role. The neo-Marxist renewal of the 1960s took place in this country before its diffusion all over the
world. During the 1960s, a new wave of innovation took place with the introduction of the geopolitical approach. Today the geopolitical terminology is taking
more and more place in the public debate, with the multiplication of the geopolitical publications. France has recently crossed a new stage in the diffusion and
the institutionalisation of Geopolitics by introducing this discipline to the secondary education. Geopolitics' position in the perception and the interpretation of
our world will be discussed in the presence and with the participation, between others, of one of the major founding fathers of the French geopolitical school.

GROWTH 4.0 From where does economic growth come? Economic theory contends it is a function of the combined effect of resources (production factors) allocated to the
economy and their productivity level. So: a country can grow if more resources (people, capital, land…) are injected into the economy and/or their productivity is
increased. In today’s economy, the notion that innovation is at the core of capitalism’s dynamics has become mainstream, and data show innovation drives at
least minimum of 50 percent of growth in OECD countries. Nevertheless, a fast-moving global scenario suggests the need to develop a renewed understanding on
the opportunities and levers for future growth.

BUSINESS IS A PLATFORM FOR CHANGE.
REINVENTING FOR THE NEW DECADE Capitalism needs both top-down reforms and bottom-up policies to maintain trust in a market economy. It also needs populism. As the social and economic
consequences of globalization become ever so apparent, how can we strike a balance between the three powerful forces – the state, markets, and our own
communities – in order to ensure the capitalist systems works for everyone?

THE TREASURE OF 60+:
TURNING SILVER ECONOMY INTO GOLD One of the most significant global demographic trends of the 21st century is population ageing, which is driven by three principal forces: declining fertility,
increasing longevity, and the progression of large contingents to older ages. Greece has recorded an extremely low fertility rate over the last thirty years, is seeing
a substantial rise in longevity but mainly spend in bad health while the share of Greece’s population over 60 is expected to rise rapidly the next 20 years. What
really needs to be done in Greece to deliver the economic opportunity of longevity? Which policies do we need do adopt in order to secure a sustainable
healthcare system in the years to come? Is there a smooth path for Greece through this extraordinary transition?

DUAL PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION MODEL AS MEAN TO ENHANCE COMPETITIVENESS OF THE GREEK
ECONOMY A REDUCTION OF YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT By adopting the Dual professional education model from the business community and the state, a dual opportunity is created. Young people will be benefited
with the reduction of youth unemployment as well as businesses which gain personnel with specialized professional skills.
In Dual professional education program – a 3-year program – the trainee attends theoretical and laboratory courses, while the 2/3 of the program are being
conducted in a real working environment of an enterprise. During the program the trainee receives full payment and insurance benefits. This implies that
unemployment is tackled by giving young people a choice, while at the same time enhancing the specialization of employees who begin their work career with
significant experience.

GREECE AND THE EURO:
FROM CRISIS TO RECOVERY The nine-year adjustment program followed by Greece in the aftermath of the 2010 crisis was concluded in the summer of 2018. The program was associated
with the deepest and longest recession in Greece’s post war history. This session, presented by three prominent Greek economists with extensive policy experience
before and after the crisis, as well as the Managing Director of the European Stability Mechanism, focuses on the opportunities for a re-orientation of Greece’s
macroeconomic and reform policy, towards a policy mix that will assist the recovery of the Greek economy, while at the same time avoiding the danger that
Greece returns to ineffective short run policies similar to those that helped bring about the crisis of 2010. The presenters will discuss both the policy options for
the future as well as the institutional reforms that are required to assist the recovery of the Greek economy.

ETHICS IN INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT AND FINANCE An industry without trust is an industry without clients. As the global economy grows more complex and uncertain, the ethical dilemmas that financial
professionals may encounter during their daily work activities are increasing. Ethical dilemmas are a form of workplace ambiguity, readily generated by the
competing priorities in finance and investment business. Building a better world for investing starts by rebuilding the trust that has eroded over the years due to
poor decision-making when faced with ethical dilemmas, and establishing a financial services industry that demands the highest level of ethical behaviour.
