Prep and Kindergarten Orientation
It was lovely to meet with almost all of the
38 families who will have a student in
Kindergarten in 2017. As the School’s
largest ever Kindergarten cohort, we are
very excited they will move into the
School’s newly renovated classrooms in
2017. It was also lovely to meet with most
of the nineteen families with a child
starting Prep in 2017. Welcome to the
SHCS community.
Leadership
Each year, the School is richly blessed with
quality student leaders. This leadership
occurs in various forms: formal roles such
as SRC, Captains, Sports Captains, and the
JS Leadership team. With this legacy of
quality student leadership in mind I am
delighted to announce the election of the
following School Captains for 2016/17:

Mr Daniel Ross Miss Amelia Bull

Remembrance Day
On this day, our nation, along with various
allied nations, stop to remember the
moment when the guns of the Western
Front fell silent. At 11am on 11th November
1918, after more than four years continuous
warfare, the allied peace terms were
accepted, which amounted to
unconditional surrender. In the post-war
years this moment has attained a special
significance. The moment when hostilities
ceased on the Western Front has become
universally associated with the
remembrance of those who had died in the
war. This first modern world conflict had
brought about the mobilisation of over 70
million people and left between 9 and 13
million dead, perhaps as many as one-third
of them with no known grave. While we
pause for a moment to remember the
sacrifice of these men and women, we are
reminded of the wonderful truth of Psalm
116:15 which says; “precious in the eyes of the
Lord are the death of his Holy ones”. This
Biblical truth also reflects our heartfelt
response to the passing of one of our dads,
Mr Troy Wilhelmi. We grieve with family
and friends as a School community that
Troy has been called home to be with his
Saviour Jesus. We will walk shoulder to
shoulder with the family and support them
as they adjust to life without their dad.
Camps
As you will see in photos throughout this
edition of InTouch, students from Years 3 to
10 enjoyed their annual School camping
experience last week. Our students were
wonderful ambassadors for the School and
enjoyed a wide variety of activities
including: paddle boarding, archery,
