Blood Drive Today - Give the Gift of Life! Dayspring is hosting the Fall Blood Drive today. The Bloodmobile will be in the Church parking lot from 8:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome!

UMOM Domestic Violence Needs - Next Sunday bring: Welcome bag items of soap, cosmetics, nail polish, hair products, deodorant. Small blankets, children’s books, small toys and art supplies. Towels, new pillows, lamps and a vacuum cleaner. Books in Spanish for children and adults. Quilts. Thanks.

Immigration Forum - Registrations for the Immigration Forum on Saturday, Oct. 15, need to be turned in by tomorrow! You can find registration forms on the Welcome Table, in the church office, or register by calling Jane Baker at (480) 216-0757 or emailing her at [email protected]. The lunch is $7.00. Checks can be put in the offering plate or sent to the church office. Be sure to write “Immigration Forum” on the check. The forum is free if you are not eating lunch, and walk-ins are acceptable. Don’t pass up this opportunity to listen to a balanced presentation on this important topic.

Explorer’s Class - The class continues its series today on “Justice for

the Poor.” Today’s topic is “Prosperity Gospel.” This dvd/discussion series examines what the scriptures and Jesus say about the “poor”. Jim Wallis of Sojourner’s Magazine talks about how the church and Christians have misunderstood this theme that runs throughout the Bible. 9:00 a.m. in the Adult Room. All adults are welcome.

Adult Bible Study Class meets at 9:00 a.m. in Room 112. We are currently discussing Genesis. If you are interested or have any questions, contact Cathy Smoot at (480) 497-2948.

Contemporary Issues - This 10:30 a.m. adult class is studying the origins of the Bible, how it has evolved, and how it is interpreted today. This journey of discovery about the traditions and mysteries from archeological discoveries and Biblical scholarship, will help us explore and understand how this book has become the most influential writings in human history. Join us as we read, discuss and learn about the Bible’s ancient beginnings and our present day interpretations.

When Children Ask About God: A Guide for Parents Who Don’t Always Have All the Answers - Monday Moms & Dads Group will begin a study of this book by Harold Kushner on Oct. 24 from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. in Room 111. United Methodist Women - **The Connie Reading Circle will meet on Thursday, Oct. 13 at 9:30 a.m. at Blanche Berreman’s home, (480) 961-1968. Pearline Roberson will review “A Deepening Love Affair: The Gift of God in Later Life”, by Jane Thibault. **The Mary Martha Circle will meet On Thursday, Oct. 13 at 7:00 p.m. at Beth Cadman’s home, (480) 345-2346. Marilyn Miller will present a program based on “response”, the UMW magazine. Visitors and prospective members are welcome.

Family Promise - Dayspring will host Family Promise, a program for homeless families, Oct. 16-23. Volunteers are needed to donate food, spend the night, move beds from our church to the next, set up, tear down, cook, and accompany the families during the day on Saturday...and/or wash the laundry. 50+ - Friday, Oct. 21st begins the new season for 50 Plus! “Highlights of the Dayspring 2011 Tour Choir’s European Trip” will be presented by Mrs. Robert Smith (Pauline). Bring newcomers, friends, or visitors with you to this interesting program. The buffet lunch begins at 12:00 noon in the Shalimar Country Club Restaurant. Cost is $12 per person which

Singles at Dayspring -Singles, Etc. Lunches - Each Sunday after the second service, those who want to go out for lunch as a group meet at the restaurant listed below. If you attend first service, please join us! We gather around noon under the name “Dayspring”. October 9 - Macayo’s - NE corner of 48th Street and Warner.

Brown Bag Lunch - Come join us for Brown Bag Lunch every Tuesday at 12:00 noon. Bring your own lunch and socialize with people from the church. We always have a good time! Come and be part of this fun group!

Holiday Boutique Update - The Dayspring Holiday Boutique is just 6 weeks away, and we are busy planning! We are in need of volunteers to help run this wonderful event.
