Evidence suggests that short-term exposure to dietary isoflavones found in soy for newborns and girls prior to puberty may decrease the risk of breast cancer caused by carcinogens later in life.

In Asian countries, breast cancer rates are at least 2/3 lower than in North America.

Although genistein and daidzen cause a deficit of T4 and T3, adding iodine to the diet along with soy will diminish or eliminate the negative effect of soy on thyroid function.
