    Cost of Living

Nuremberg has a relatively average cost of living compared to its neighbour Munich and

definitely works out best in the area due to its proximity to these cities.

    Entertainment

Nurembergs events calendar is full to bursting with a multitude of fantastic activities.

Theres something different on almost every week of the year. A large number of

tourists come to Nuremberg specifically for special events to make sure they dont miss

out. Restaurant prices vary depending on where you opt to eat but generally speaking

they are reasonably priced. Restaurant bills include a service charge and tipping is not

compulsory. If you're satisfied with the service, add about 5% to 10%. It's customary to

tip as you're handing over the money, rather than leaving change on the table. As well as

this, Nuremberg has many cinemas and theatres on offer. There are several Museumsand Galleries too most of which offer fairly priced tickets including deals and reductions

on Concessions, Family buys or Group purchasing. Furthermore, nightlife in Nuremberg

is very popular especially with tourists as it offers arguably the most diverse clubs &

    bars worldwide.

    Utility Bills

Home telephone rental, internet subscription, mobile tariffs and data costs are all very

low in comparison to other European destinations. In addition to this electricity, gas and

water bills come in well under Europes average (see quick links guide).

    Taxes

Everyone who is resident in Germany or who has an income from Germany is subject to

income tax on salaries, self-employed earnings and other sources of income, although

there are various exemptions. Foreign nationals must obtain a tax registration card once

they start working in Germany. Employers normally deduct tax direct from employees'

salaries, along with social security contributions. It should be noted that if you are

working as a Freelancer you will be responsible for sorting out your own Health

Insurance. There are many different tax categories depending if you are married and/or

have children. It is often better for people relocating alone to opt for private health

insurance, this is usually cheaper and provides better cover.

Darwin works with several Managed Agencies that specialize in Tax Solutions for

Freelancers so feel free to get in touch with them.
