He is truly risen, Alleluia, Alleluia!

    The General Curia

In April, the Superior General began his activities by celebrating Holy Week with a Hispanic com-munity in the United States in a parish that the Daughters of Charity staff in Georgetown, SouthCarolina. During that week he had the opportunity to share with the members of this community, which, after nine years of existence, experienced Holy Week for the first time in Spanish. It was avery enriching missionary experience with different activities during the evenings, in addition tothe services proper to Holy Week. He held formation and social meetings with spouses, couples, and young people.

He also got to know the works of the Daughters of Charity in this city. He spent Easter Sundaywith the community of Daughters of Charity of Georgetown and another community. That same day he travelled to Gloverville, also in South Carolina, to another community of Daugh-ters of Charity. There he got to know the works that the sisters carry out in that area.

also visited the confrere from the Province of Slovenia who isin a parish of Montreal, Franc Letonja and two confreres fromthe Provinces of France, Jorge Luis Muiz from the Provinceof Toulouse and Joseph Dinh Tat, a Vietnamese from theProvince of Paris.

These confreres live in community with an espoused couplefrom the permanent diaconate, Deacon Roger and his wifeRaymonde Dubois. She often collaborates with the GeneralCuria by translating from English into French.

Later he went to Canada where he took part in a meeting of the Vincentian Family in Montreal. It

was a very rich experience where, in addition, he had the opportunity to get to know the only work

that the Daughters of Charity have in Canada. It is an international work with sisters from Canada,

    the United States, and Colombia.

From there he moved to Aparecida where he took part in the SixthMeeting of the Latin American Vincentian Family (FAVILA). It washeld at a shrine of the Redemptorist priests.

The main objective of the meeting was to look for lines of action thatunite us to the Vincentian spirit and allow us to support one anothermutually in our projects and activities, as well as in the organizationand service with the poor.

The specific goals were to move forward in our identity as a family

that shares the same charism and the same spirituality; to strengthenour ties for better evangelization and service of the poor; and toshare our journey within the Vincentian Family, helping one anotherin formation and service projects.

With the motto, Centered on Christ, We Live the Charism," therewas a dialogue at the meeting on the Latin American reality and onunion and cooperation as Vincentian Family. In this respect, topicswere developed during the morning and workshops in the after-noons. Among the topics were Marian Spirituality in the Vincentian

Family, developed by Mizal Poggioli; and Cooperation in Saint Vin-cent de Paul, developed by Eli Chaves dos Santos. The workshopscentered on cooperation from the experience of Saint Louise deMarillac, Frederick Ozanam, and Rosalie Rendu, among others.

The meeting concluded with a Vincentian feast in conjunction withabout 40 thousand members of the SSVP who were making a pil-grimage on 21-22 April at the shrine. The Mass was presided by ourconfrere, Bishop Jos Carlos Chacorowski.

Rural Easter in Valencia: unity and diversity

A seminarian from the Province of Madrid, Ignacio Moneo Colmenar, has

written a brief reflection on the experience of Holy Week in different vil-lages of Valencia, Spain. We share this with you as follows:

Holy Week is a series of special days for Christians during which we cele-brate the central core of our faith: the passion, death, and resurrection of

Jesus Christ. Not everyone can celebrate these feasts in the same way, noteveryone has sufficient resources for them, be it because of work, lack ofpriests, etc. Therefore, the first thing I want to do is to remember all thesepersons.

Since this becomes habitual, in certain villages the priests have to juggle to try to have as many as pos-sible come. It is precisely for this reason, in order that there be no one who does not experience the faithin these so notable days, we gathered a group of persons with the aim of bringing others to the Mysteryof God made man, dead and risen, celebrating and sharing our time, happiness, and especially our faith. These persons have names: Father Enrique, Father Juventino, Mara Dolores, Elena, Jaime, Marian,Ximo, Sole, Vicente (every couple with its children like: Mara, Sara, Mirella, Anna, Ximo, David, Pau,Blanca, Carlos, and Luz), and finally, myself (Ignacio Moneo Colmenar); likewise the villages havenames: Facheca, Famorca, Tollos, Balls, Benimassot, Benilloba, and Beniarrs.

For us, as one can imagine, day after day has been nonstop (and it has to be thus): going from one villageto another, preparing liturgy and songs, bringing happiness and the desire to experience the celebra-tions, listening, speaking, sharing, reflecting, praying, celebrating, laughing, crying, leading, etc. It wasan Easter lived familiarly, in family. A single family made up of many members, as I have pointed out, members different in size, height, age, and even nationality. As we would say in theology, it has been anEaster lived with two terms: unity diversity, enriching for us and, certainly, for all with whom wewere.

The beauty of the churches we got to visit is impressive. They were well maintained. But much more

impressive was the agreeable and participative people, their openness and the sharing of the celebration, meal, time, and even home. They are moments and situations that not only help, but give color andmake real the great Mystery of Gods love. All this took on greater intensity, as is normal, when we allcould say to one another, this phrase that was not in words: Jesus Christ has risen! He has truly risen! We said it in Valencian, in Castilian and, if we knew all the worlds languages, we would say it in all ofthem, but as no one knew all of them, we did it from the universal language, from the Christian lan-guage, from the language of Jesus that we shouted, that is to say, from the Love shown with an embrace, with tears, and with the happiness and pleasure that our God is risen and we are with and for Him.

Certainly they are moments in which it is necessary to be attentive to see and to sense the Lord in everyinstant, moments for living intensely knowing that what is important is behind what is apparent. Weprepared ourselves for 40 days for this feast. For 50 days we will celebrate it intensely and will continuedoing it every Sunday of the year. May the Lord grant us to live it every day and, if possible, to makeit live in those who surround us. For this reason and for this, courage, and as we said in these days,Bon da (Good day)
