Dear Parents and Carers Relay for Life On the 18th October it was the annual Relay for Life event in Cessnock. For the first time there was a parade and schools were asked to attend. I was there with just one family who walked with me. There were quite a few other Nulkaba students there but they were actually part of Relay teams. Well done to those students as well. A special thanks to Chloe B and Tahni B who carried our banner and walked with me to the Sportsground. Well done girls. Kindergarten Expo Our annual expo was held again last Monday and was a great success. On a suggestion from one of the mums at P&C I conducted guided tours for new parents. This proved very popular and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting our new families and 'showing off' all the amazing parts of our school. It was wonderful to see so many families here taking advantage of the expo. The bag that was handed out has an extensive list of information for you. If you missed collecting it please come and do so at the office. Don't forget the Teddy Bear's picnic next week. Fitness Just a reminder that there are fitness classes conducted in the School Hall through the week by Svelte. Monday and Tuesday at 5pm and Wednesday at 4.30pm. Cost is $10 per class - there is no joining fee. Thursday afternoon is Ballaties - Pilates to music and is a great stretch class. Cost is the same and children are welcome. I hope to see you there. P&C Our final formal P&C meeting for the year is on Tuesday 11th November. Please come along and support our school. As part of the new Planning Cycle for schools I will be discussing our directions and seeking your input into this. This is a very important part of the Planning Cycle and I would love it if you can attend. This would be at 6.45pm. The meeting begins at 6.30 pm. Swimming School This program commenced this week and what wonderful weather we have had. Let's hope the weather continues for next week as the children are really enjoying this experience. Grandparents Day I was blown away by the number of grandparents who came to our first annual Grandparents Day. While walking around I saw lots of happy, smiling faces. Children were enjoying reading to their grandparents. We will be holding this every year and look forward to expanding this program. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Thank you for your patience with morning tea. Book Fair and Parade This will be happening next week. I always look forward to this event. This year we have had raffles, colouring in competitions, guessing competitions and will have the fair and Parade to look forward to next week, Please come along and purchase some books. It is a great time to shop for presents. A sausage sizzle will be held as well. It will be great fun. Ted Prior's visit on Thursday will be a wonderful end to a fun filled week. Remember when you believed in anything and everything?

Researchers from the University of Western Australia are investigating children’s tendencies to being tricked, fooled and misled by their peers. We are looking to see how this develops in children, and when children outgrow this. We are looking for parents of Kindergarten – Year 6 children (especially 10 and 11 year olds) across Australia to complete an online survey (15 – 20 minutes). Participants will go into a draw to win one of 10 $50 gift certificates to Coles/Myers. To participate go to: http://tinyurl.com/childsvq5 Or for more information please contact Rebecca Seward at (08) 6488 4652 or [email protected]

Library Reading Challenge Every year students who

complete the Premier’s

This year only a few

students took up the

challenge, but their

efforts are to be commended

all the same. We can say

special congratulations to

the following students —

Georgina P 2S, Chloe D S2B

and Julia B S2B. These

girls have earned a voucher

to use towards Book Club or

Book Fair items. Well done

ladies!
