ASEAN ECONOMIC COMMUNITY:

ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) is to be established by 2015. Supported by the following four pillars: • Single market and Production base• Competitive Economic Region • Equitable Economic Development• Integration into the Global Economy

The five core elements within the first pillar (single market and production base) are: 1. Free flow of goods 2. Free flow of Services 3.

Free flow of Investment 4. Freer flow of Capital 5. Free flow of skilled labor.

AEC’s goal is to transform and upgrade the 10 South East Asia’s economies. To bring greater welfare to the people. To that end much has been achieved by the individual countries. It is realized, however, that much has still to be carried out by the member countries. Particu-larly by Indonesia in such areas as Production Base and Competitive Strength.

ASEAN IN THE GLOBAL ECONOMY

Population: The ASEAN-10 have a combined population of 625 million people. ASEAN-10 takes third place in the world after China and India. Middle income class: ASEAN has the third largest middle class in the global economy: China 800 million -- India 210 million – South East Asia (ASEAN) 190 million – USA 180 million – France, German, UK 150 million.

(Source: Nielson estimates)Growth rates: ASEAN is rated among the small group of countries with high growth. ASEAN’s growth in 2013 is among the two highest: China with 7.7% and ASEAN with a growth rate of 5.1%. Year 2015 is a crucial year for ASEAN on account of the critical global financial situation. Total GDP: Slowly but steadily ASEAN-10 has within 2 to 3 decades managed to become a

regional grouping with a sizeable aggregate economic size.Position in the Global Econom: It should be noted that with its high and steady growth ASEAN has become the 5th largest economy in the global economy. After the European Union, USA, China and Japan. Larger than many other developed countries.

INVESTMENTSince the year 2000 the trend of ASEAN FDI (foreign direct investment) shows its high upward trend. It was US$ 21, 809 million in 2000 and reached the total of US$ 122,377 billion in 2013. During 2013 Singapore was by far the largest receiver, followed by Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam.EU is showing its continued high performance as a source country for ASEAN followed by Japan. It must be known, however, that presently ASEAN has become the 3rd largest provider; higher than China and the USA.

TRADE IN SERVICES In addition to trade in goods ASEAN trade in services is beginning to grow and is showing its upward trend. Trade in services include among others the following sectors: transport – travel – tourism -- construction – insurance – financial services – telecommunications etc. With the growth of ASEAN’s overall economy there is the need to expand ASEAN’s trade in services.

TOURISMThe most popular countries in total and intra-ASEAN visitor arrivals are: Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore. (Indonesia is still on the low side)

TRADE PERFORMANCE; Trade is a key sector in the ASEAN econo-mies. Since 2003 total ASEAN trade in goods show the increasing trend. From US$ 825 billion in 2003 to the total trade of US$2,512 billion in 2013. ASEAN trade with China, Japan and South Korea contrib-utes more than 50% to ASEAN’s total trade.

Indonesia - Thailand to Step Up Manpower Cooperation

WHO Urges Governments to Raise Tobacco Taxes to Beat Smoking

"Manpower cooperation Indone-sia and Thailand are exploring includes industrial relations, manpower supervision, training and migrant workers placement management covering training and best practice sharing," Indonesian minister of manpow-er Hanif Dhakiri said after meeting with his Thai counter-part Gen Surasak Karnjanara on Wednesday (29/7).

Hanif said the meeting also touched on cooperation issues in the maritime and marine sector, cooperation in the fishery product and especially in the protection of marine workers or boat crew members. As members and founders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean), Indonesia and Thailand have been important partners and played active roles in various kinds of cooperation under the Asean framework.

Australian Ambassador to Indonesia Paul Grigson met Vice President M. Jusuf Kalla on Wednesday (29/7) to discuss ways to improve the bilateral relations between the two countries.

Vice President Jusuf Kalla said that they had also discussed a plan to open a consulate general in Makassar, South Sulawesi.

"We discussed several issues related to future relations between Indonesia and Austra-lia, economic problems, a plan to establish a consulate general in Makassar, and his programs in Indonesia," Kalla revealed at his office.

In the past few months, ties between the two countries have been disturbed due several diplomatic issues and Grigsons presence at the vice presidents office was aimed at rebuilding these relations.

"Well, in the past six months, our relations have been strained. So we discussed ways to

The Iranian government has expressed its readiness to cooperate with Indonesia in the field of nuclear technology, following the UN Security Council Resolution on Irans nuclear program.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to share its experience in the field of advanced nuclear technology based on internation-al regulations," Iranian Ambas-sador to Indonesia Valiollah Mohammadi said.

Mohammadi met with Vice President Jusuf Kalla on Thurs-day (30/7). It was during this meeting that Kalla expressed his views on Iran's nuclear program.

"I listened to Vice President Kalla, who supports the agreement. He also hopes that the cooperation can serve to boost the bilateral relations between the two countries," the ambassador remarked.

Moreover, Deputy Head Secre-tariat of the Vice President for

The governments of Indonesia and Thailand are seeking increased cooperation in the field of manpower and hoped it could be put in a memorandum of understanding soon.

now have signed several memo-randums of understanding including in the fields of educa-tion, law, anti-corruption efforts and trade but no MOU has so far been signed in the field of manpower," Hanif said.

In view of that the two ministers agreed to seriously explore possible cooperation in the field to be put in a memorandum of understanding. "We also touched on cooperation issues in the maritime and marine sector, cooperation in fishery products and especially protection of marine workers or boat crew members," Hanif said.

He said Indonesia supported the continuation of cooperation between ASEAN members under the social-cultural pillar especially in the manpower sector to meet the ASEAN Community Post 2015. "We agreed to continue the awareness program and promotion of social

protection of workers and development of regional communication network to strengthen social protection, skills introduction and produc-tivity programs in the frame-work of improving the quality of manpower and facilitating workers with skills and employ-ment opportunities in the current economic globalization," minis-ter Hanif said.

Indonesia and Thailand agreed to keep supporting the imple-mentation of Asean Skills Competition (ASC) as a driver for Asean member countries to continue to improve the development of competency and skills of their young workers.

Closer cooperation among ASEAN member countries is needed because there are still only eight sectors that have been agreed upon for the ASEAN joint skills introduction program and Indonesia hopes that the

number could be increased, he said.

Cooperation is also needed to build regional consultation network on manpower supervi-sion, strengthen the capacity of employment market system, build communication in the framework of strengthening regional social dialog with regard to industrial relations especially regarding pay system, social security, working condi-tions and promoting decent work.

On migrant protection ASEAN is now planning to finalize the instrument for the protection of migrant workers. "Indonesia hopes the instrument could be implemented consistently by all ASEAN members to cover both documented and undocumented workers and eradicate human trafficking," minister Hanif said.

Gen Surasak Karnjanara

expressed support to closer cooperation between Indonesia and Thailand especially in the manpower field.

"Cooperation between the two countries is expected to give a positive impact on management of the manpower sector in the respective countries," he said.

Indonesias diplomatic relations with Thailand has developed since 1950 and the relations have continued to develop especially in the fields of trade, economy, investment and tourism and have been especial-ly strengthened by the establish-ment of Joint Commission in 1992.

Indonesia and Thailand have been involved in the Indone-sia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle regional cooperation and one of the working groups discussing human resource development.

improve them in the second semester," Kalla remarked.

Relations between Indonesia and Australia were tense following the execution of Australian drug convicts Andre Chan and Myuran Sukumaran, as well as Australias act of bribing crew members of a boat carrying asylum seekers to the country.

However, Spokesman for the Foreign Affairs Ministry Arrmanatha Nasir had observed

earlier that the relations between the governments of the two countries had yet to reach a critical level.

The two governments still communicate well, he added.

"I did not see clear changes in communication channels because it continues to be carried out at technical, directo-rial and ministerial levels, as well as at the level of director generals," he affirmed.

Policy Support on the Govern-ment Dewi Fortuna Anwar stated that the Vice President had expressed his appreciation of the deal agreed upon by the United Nations Security Council on Iran's nuclear program.

Kalla believes that the sanctions on Iran can be ended so its government can cooperate with other countries.

"The Vice President is very pleased because the sanctions on Iran can be resolved," Anwar affirmed.

An Iranian delegation will visit Indonesia to discuss the use of nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

As reported by Reuters, Iran and six leading world powers signed a comprehensive plan to end international sanctions against Iran in exchange for putting restrictions on its controversial nuclear program.

The deal signed in Vienna on

Tuesday is meant to break a 12-year standoff over Irans nuclear activities, which some nations claimed involved military research.

The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action acknowledges Iran's right for peaceful nuclear development on par with any other signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

The agreement provides for a joint commission to be established to monitor the imple-mentation of the action plan and handle dispute situations.

In addition, the International Atomic Energy Agency is tasked with verifying voluntary nuclear-related measures taken by Iran.

Iran and the six nations, China, France, Germany, Russia, the UK and the US, are to hold ministerial-level meetings at least once every two years to monitor the progress.

Governments around the world should increase taxes on cigarettes and other tobacco products to save lives and gener-ate funds for stronger health services, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Tuesday (7/7).

In a report entitled "The Global Tobacco Epidemic 2015", the United Nations health agency said that too few governments make full use of tobacco taxes to dissuade people from smoking or help them to cut down and quit. It recommends that at least 75 percent of the price of a pack of cigarettes should be tax. The WHO calculates that one person

dies from tobacco-related disease every six seconds or so, equivalent to about 6 million people a year. The number is forecast to rise to more than 8 million people a year by 2030 unless strong measures are taken to control the what it calls a "tobacco epidemic".

There are a billion smokers worldwide, but many countries have extremely low tobacco tax rates and some have no special tobacco taxes at all, the WHO said. "Raising taxes on tobacco products is one of the most effective and cost-effective ways to reduce consumption of products that kill, while also

generating substantial revenue," WHO Director-General Marga-ret Chan said in the Reuters report. She urged all governments to look at the evidence and adopt one of the best win-win policy options available for health. Tobacco is one of the four main risk factors behind non-commu-nicable diseases -- mostly cancers, cardiovascular and lung diseases and diabetes. In 2012 these diseases killed 16 million people under the age of 70, with more than 80 percent of those deaths in poor or middle-income countries. Douglas Bettcher, a WHO expert on the prevention of

non-communicable diseases, said that higher tobacco taxes have been proven to reduce consumption and help people to quit smoking.

"Evidence from countries such as China and France shows higher tobacco product prices linked to increased taxes lead to declines in smoking prevalence and tobacco-related harm," he said. Yet since 2008, when 22 countries had tobacco tax that accounted for more than 75 percent of the price of a packet of cigarettes, only 11 more countries have taken action to increase taxes to appropriate levels, the WHO said.

Globalization and the Challenges ofIndonesia’s Management of the Bureaucracy

quires an understanding aboutcountries’ needs for coordina-tion cooperation pattern amongstate bureaucratic institutions. On the other hand, this modelalso refers to the interaction pat-terns between the state actorsand non-state actors in provid-ing public policies and services. In this context, the term com-monly used to explain the inter-action pattern between state andnon-state actors is informal in-ternational administration andbureaucracy. This concept refersto administration and bureau-cracy regulations and manage-

al development matters profes-sionally will only open the doorto foreign intervention, either bycountries that have signed cer-tain accords and those that havenot. These are already reflectedin a wide range of developmentproblems, especially in the man-agement of the domestic naturalresources.

There are at least three crucialpoints related to the actors in-volved in our bureaucracy man-agement. First of all, the countryactors are the most importantactors in the administration andbureaucracy management. Sec-

ondly, the specific inter-govern-mental actors such as the WorldBank, IMF and others. Third-ly, multinational actors such asmultinational companies. Basedon the explanations above, thereare at least two consequencesthat we need to know and un-derstand about international ad-ministration development.

First of all, pragmatism, thenecessity to understand what in-ternational administration andbureaucracy is in order to under-stand the “relational state mod-el”. On one hand, this model re-

ment which make both domesticand international accords be-come more flexible, not too bind-ing with regards to many of thestate’s non-political issues.

At this point, the demand forfull competence on internationaladministration and bureaucracyin this globalization era becomeshigher because it will affect theeffectiveness level that can beapplied in various local, nationaland global issues. The adminis-tration competence is also relat-ed with the quality of good pub-lic governance which carries 8(eight) characteristics, name-ly: participatory, consensus, ac-countability, transparancy, re-sponsiveness, effectiveness andefficiency, equitability and com-pliance with the law.

Secondly, the lack of or ab-sence of competence in bureau-cracy will only lead to three typesof malgovernance, namely badgovernance, weak governanceand underdeveloped global gov-ernance. The three malgover-nances which are marked byweak national leadership andlack of austerity will only re-sult in various multidimension-al problems in the local, nation-al and international level. That’sexactly what Indonesia is facingright now in its national develop-ment management.

The sentence aboveshows that thereare international(globalization) rolesin the public ad-

ministration management of acountry. International interven-tion, in this case internationaladministration, is often unpre-ventable in domestic lives. This isbecause a wide range of issues, processes and actors involved inthe administration/bureaucracyhave international dimensions. The question now is how a coun-try with its administration ca-pacity can maintain its integri-ty and sovereignty in managingits bureaucracy to achieve its na-tional development agenda.

Domestification and interna-tionalization process will playbigger roles in the government’smanagement in the era of glo-balization in which traditionalborders of a country will becomemore and more blurred. One ofthe impacts that we will encoun-ter from such a process is grow-ing demand for better trans-parency, accountability andprofessionalism in dealing withboth national and internationalissues. This assertion was made by Rachmat Gobel during the handover of the position as Chairman of METI of the Period of 2015-2018 to Suryadharma in Jakarta on Monday (6/7). Rachmat Gobel led Meti as the Chairman for the 2012-2015 period.

Attending the inauguration of the Special School President Director of PT Jababeka Infras-truktur Tjahjadi Rahardja, President Director of PT Mattel Indonesia Roy Tandean, SVP FFDC Mfg Mattel TH Soo, and the Head of Social Services Bekasi District Edi Rochyadi.

Tumbuh Kembang Ceria Special School is the 14th school built on the cooperation of PT Mattel Indonesia and PT Jababeka Tbk. This school will accommodate about 80 students with special needs in 4 classes.

President Director of PT Jababe-ka Infrastruktur, Tjahjadi Rahardja, revealed that the construction of this SLB is a testament to the commitment and concern of PT Jababeka and tenants who are in Jababeka Industrial Estate, especially PT Mattel Indonesia, towards the world of education.

"I feel happy and proud with the launch of this SLB, thank you for the contribution of PT Mattel Indonesia, hopefully in the future we can continue to collab-orate and cooperate with the

tenants in Jababeka Industrial Estate in CSR activities," he said.Meanwhile, President Director of PT Mattel Indonesia, Roy Tandean, committed and caring PT Mattel Indonesia in the world of education in Indonesia, proven since 2002 PT Mattel Indonesia has built schools in the enterprise and outside the enterprise.

"This SLB is the first Special School that we have built in cooperation with PT Jababeka Tbk, previously there were 14 schools that we built together. Hopefully with this new facility, learning process can be run better and be beneficial to the long-term education in Bekasi," he said.

"Regarding the construction (of this SLB) is from PT Mattel Indonesia and PT Jababeka Tbk, but for the curriculum is from the department of education," he said.

Edi expect, parents who have children with special needs are not ashamed to enroll their children in formal schools. “Do not let them become a burden later on the state and society. They should be set up to be independent," he concluded.

al banking, one of which is based on the ratio of funds from the banking premiums collected over the last 10 years compared with customer funds that covered.

He said, if the LPS funds collect-ed from premiums accumulated in the last 10 years amounted to Rp 50 trillion, which is used to maintain stability, paying customer’s funds are closed. The total amount is only Rp 4.5 trillion. “So it means that the Indonesian economy is good, in the last 10 years the durability of the banking is also good,” Heru said.

The Chairman of Commission-ers Board of LPS also admitted, there is external pressure from Greece, China, and others.

Nevertheless, he said so far the impact is minimal and there has been no quite relevant impact. “We also see that the durability of banking and our economic fundamentals are relatively good. If banking CAR is still at the level of 20.5 percent that is very good. NPL (Non Perform-ing Loan) in the range of 2.45 percent. Net NPL is only 1.42 percent. Therefore, the reserve is also quite, it is also very good, “ said Heru as he mentioned, the banks that closed were small-scale banks so that do not have a significant impact.Regarding his presence at the Presidential Palace, Heru Budiarjo argued, for updates on the deposit insurance agency and to report on the developments that occurred and the challenges

that exist in the future. Heru explained, President Jokowi hoped that the Draft Law (Bill) on the Financial System Safety Net (JPSK), which the govern-ment is currently discussing with the Parliament could be completed before the end of this year. The Bill of JPSK, he added, would serve as an antidote to the economic crisis if hit Indonesia.

“So that things are indeed important, so that Indonesia is ready in crisis prevention,” he said.

Accompanying President Jokowi at the occasion Minister of Finance Bambang Brodjone-goro, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, and Special Staff of President Teten Masduki.

my Dad though .We saw Orang utans in the wild, explored volcanic lakes and island hopped. The most memorable aspect of my journey, apart from spending time with my father, was the wonderful people I met. I was amazed just how genuine and friendly they were. That was reason enough to return!

It took me years to return but I always knew I had to. Dad is still teaching eager young Indone-sians to speak English but in a different city, Cikarang, in Java. Cikarang is an industrial city full of factories and although interesting, not very scenic

except for a beautiful golf course. I wanted to escapecity life for a while and I found a place called Tanjung Lesung in the region of Banten, west Java. A surprisingly large develop-ment project, Tanjung Lesung boasts the charmof the local people.

Kind of like a “grown up” village. Boasting a luxurious upmarket hotel, Beach club with comfortable camping and water-sports, a sailing club with rustic lodgings and a bed and breakfast hotel they seem to have accom-modation needs well covered. The hotel is luxurious without

being impersonal and is in true Indonesian style. Friendly and genuine.

The Beach Club is my kind of place. The camping ground is very civilisedindeed with raised tents, mattresses and fans etc. Adventure awaits in the calm bay in front of the resort as well. Jet skiis, banana boat and glass bottom boat rides and some of the best snorkeling I have seen. I have travelled quite a lot and get in the water at every opportunity I can The easily accessible reef in front of the beach club is simply amazing! Not just the amoun tof healthy coral species

and fish life but what impresses me most is how little trash there is. The reef is immaculately clean. Well done Tanjung Lesung! Actually I have never seen such numbers of sea aneno-mes and clown fish in one area. Not even on the Great Barrier Reef. It looks like some kind of “Nemo” paradise!

For me, a very special memory-will always be looking down at the colourful tropical fish and raising my head above water to gaze in awe at the remnants of Krakatoa volcano on the horizon. Truly a unique experi-ence!

Ahok : Jakarta Needs More Railway Networks

Design of Lambo Reservoir East Nusa Tenggara Completed

Government Focuses on Papua Land Infrastructure

Jakarta needs several more railway networks to overcome its traffic congestion problems, Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purna-ma (Ahok) said on Tuesday (7/7).

"Jakarta does not only need numerous networks of roads but a lot of railway networks, as well, so that traffic congestion can be reduced significantly," he stated at Jakarta City Hall.

Ahok added that the develop-ment of railway networks in large numbers is needed due to the consistent increase in the

number of private cars.

"If we only develop more roads, they will not be able to accom-modate the growing number of cars. This is why we need to provide people with an alterna-tive in the form of railway services," he explained.

For this purpose, the governor affirmed that he fully supported the development of the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) System and Light Rapid Transit (LRT) System.

"With the MRT and LRT

systems, people will have more options for transportation. They may choose to leave their cars at home and opt for the mass transportation services," he remarked.

Ahok also expressed hope the development of railway transport systems will reduce traffic congestion across the city.

"We plan to develop elevated railway lines. So both elevated roads and railway tracks will be built," he noted.

The government is focusing on the construction of the Trans Papua highway project as part of their efforts to improve the province's infrastructure.

According to Hediyanto W. Husaini, director general of highways at the Public Works and Housing Ministry, the fund that must be disbursed this year reaches Rp5 trillion.

Out of Trans Papua Highway's 4,325 kilometers road, 900 kilometers have not been

completed. Hedi is targeting to build 300 kilometers of roads each year, so that the great project will be completed by 2018.

Unfortunately, the project is hampered by a lack of funds. It costs Rp12.5 trillion to build the remaining 900-kilometer road.

This year, the Ministry of Public Works has allocated Rp9.5 trillion for Papua and West Papua. The money is budgeted for roads and bridges construc-tion, irrigation, sanitation, housing and drinking water, as well as the construction of special housing for military personnel and police officers.

Next year, the Ministry will allocate Rp6 trillion for Papua and Rp4 trillion for West Papua.

The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing has completed the design of Lambo reservoir in the Indonesian province of East Nusa Tenggara, an official stated.

"The construction of Lambo reservoir is part of the plan to build seven reservoirs in several areas of East Nusa Tenggara," local public works department spokesman Andre Koreh remarked on Thursday (23/7).

He noted that the seven reservoirs to be built in East Nusa Tenggara province are part of the agenda of the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry.

The seven reservoirs are Lambo reservoir in Nagekeo district, Kolhua in Kupang city, Rakna-mo and Manikin in Kupang

district, Rotiklot in Belu district, Temef in Timor Tengah Selatan (TTS) district, and Napunggete in Sikka district.

"The construction of the seven reservoirs are already included in the Ministry of Public Works plan, as East Nusa Tenggara is in dire need of reservoirs to cope with the water shortage faced by humans, animals, and plants," Andre remarked.

According to Andre, the provin-cial government has planned the construction of Rotiklot reservoir this year and will then be followed up with the construction of Lambo, and Temef reservoirs in 2017.

"In 2019, the construction of Napunggete and Manikin reservoirs will follow," he affirmed.

Regional Development of LNG Infrastructure

Dedication of KamojangGeothermal Power Plant, West Java

State-owned oil and gas giant Pertamina plans to work on several infrastructure develop-ment projects to tap the liquefied natural gas (LNG) market in the near future amid current demand uncertainty.

Among planned projects is a floating storage and regasifica-tion unit (FSRU) in Cilacap, Central Java, four land-based LNG terminals - in Bojanegara (West Java), Benoa (Bali), Porong (East Java) and Makas-sar (South Sulawesi)-, and three mini LNG plants each in

Simenggaris and Nunukan, North Kalimantan and in Salawati in West Papua.

“All are in Pertamina’s pipeline of development and we are focusing on the mini LNG development,” Pertamina vice president for corporate commu-nications Wianda Pusponegoro said on Thursday (7/30).

However, the development closest to being realized is the FSRU in Cilacap. It is currently in the final investment decision stage, according to Wianda. The

facility, which will have 200 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) in capacity, is expected to be completed by 2017.

“We are looking at the growth estimate for gas demand in the country,” she said, referring to factors driving the company to be aggressive in LNG facility development.

The country is estimated to have significant gas resources, partic-ularly in the deepwater fields in the frontier areas.

President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo on Sunday (5/7) instructed his economic ministers to prioritize the development of environmen-tally friendly power generation. The President had pointed to Indonesia’s 28,000-MW geothermal-based power poten-tials, which according to reports, may account for 40 percent of the world’s potential geothermal resources.

The ministers involved include Coordinating Marine Affairs Minister Indroyono Soesilo, State Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno as well as Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Sudirman Said.

The president’s instruction was shared during a speech to mark the dedication of the fifth unit of a geothermal power plant (PLTP) in Kamojang, West Java, on Sunday (5 Jul 2015). The new unit at Kamojang geothermal plant will provide 35 MW power capacity, adding to the existing combined capacity of 260 MW that is produced by the plant’s four other units. The four units are already in opera-tion. Two state-owned power firms namely PT PLN and PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy operate the power plants.

“On this particular day, today, I instruct the Menko (Coordinat-

ing Minister), the BUMN (State Enterprises) minister and the ESDM (Energy and Mineral Resources) minister to ensure that in the future, environmen-tally friendly power plants will be given higher priority. This is because we have potentials,” Jokowi said in his speech.

Furthermore in Kamojang, Jokowi had admitted that the government’s is prioritizing coal-based power plants in achieving the ambitious target of generating 35,000 MW of electricity in the next five years. So far, Indonesia had never focused on geothermal power generation, Jokowi noted.

President Director of Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX or BEI) Tito Sulistio has expressed concern over the negative psychological impact of the Greek crisis on investors.

"The current condition in the capital market, which tends to be uncertain, is believed to be caused by Greece. The Chinese stock market has dropped around 30 percent. To me, this is what we fear," he stated on Tuesday (7/7).

He believes that the Greek crisis will only have a short-term impact on the investors at home, as the performance of listed companies is still relatively positive despite an economic

decline."Companies in Indonesia are still developing well. Many of them could still meet their targets. I believe that as long as their fundamentals remain strong, the impact of the Greek crisis would be short term," he emphasized.

To maintain strong fundamen-tals, Tito hoped that the govern-ment would continue to increase spending on infrastructure development and on maintaining banking credits, so that econom-ic activities would continue unhindered.

"Infrastructure development at home will have a positive psychological impact on

investors to continue to invest in Indonesia despite the Greek crisis and the Feds plan to increase its rate," he remarked.

Tito was also optimistic that the government would help maintain the capital market industry by encouraging state-owned companies to release some of their shares to the public through an initial public offering, among others.

"This will make the capital market stronger, so that investors are attracted to invest in the market. The situation will certainly help to increase the demand for the rupiah," he noted.

PT Rajawali Nusantara Indone-sia (RNI) has raised its target for sugarcane harvest to 100 tons per hectare in 2016-2017 from this years target of 72 tons.

"Last year harvest totaled 60 tons per hectare on the average and this year, the production target is set at 72 million tons and it has to be higher again next year," President Director of the state owned agriculture, pharma-ceutical, distribution and trading company Didik Prasetyo said on Saturday (11/7).

Didik said he is optimistic the target could be reached with the

availability of high yield seed variety.

Earlier, synergy between state companies PT Rajawali Nusan-tara Indonesia (RNI) and PT Aneka Tambang (Antam) succeeded in producing high yield seed variety for sugarcane farmers in Cirebon, West Java.

"The synergy was made to help 278 farmers organized by RNIs sugar factory PT PG Rajawali II, to prepare sugarcane for milling in 2015-2016," Didik said.

Apart from providing working capital RNI also provide

in-house training for 110 farmers , he said.

RNI also conducts integrated research on sugarcane cultiva-tion which is expected to help farmer increase their produc-tivity.

Meanwhile I Made Surata, the general director of Aneka Tambang, a state-owned mining company, assistance in working capital totaling Rp24.6 billion had been set aside."The working capital would be disbursed by phases to produce good quality seeds," I Made Surata said.

State-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II has secured a loan commitment of Rp400 billion from PT Indonesia Infrastructure Finance (IIF) to finance expansion of a number of its airports including Jakarta's

Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. With the loan from IIF there is guarantee in fund for the expansion of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and other airports," President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II Budi Karya

Sumadi said in a news releases on Wednesday (15/7).Budi said the fund would be used for the expansion of Termi-nal 3's Ultimate of the Soekar-no-Hatta International Airport to be completed in 2016.

The fund would also be used for other priority projects in the country's largest airport includ-ing railway station for the airport railway for the procurement of automated people mover system (APMS), he said.

Biznet Increases Bandwidth Capacity for Business and Home Segments

ISDN to Build Mini-HydropowerPlant in South Sulawesi

Biznet officially increased its bandwidth capacity for Biznet Metronet and Biznet Home services, effective 1 August 2015. The increasing number of total Internet users in Indonesia encouraged Biznet, as one of the leading Internet Service Provid-ers in Indonesia, to continue improving its service quality, including by increasing the bandwidth capacity to provide better Internet experience for customers, both business and consumer segments.

“Having a reliable Internet connection is highly crucial for business to grow and expand, and to make sure all business

processes are running smoothly. The demand for high-speed Internet from business segment is rising and we decided to increase our bandwidth capacity, not only for business segment, but also for consumer segment through our Biznet Home service.

The newly increased bandwidth capacity for Biznet Metronet and Biznet Home service will give a whole new Internet experience to make sure business is on track to reach company goals and also to support all family members at home in doing their online activities,” said Adi Kusma, President Director of Biznet

Networks.

The increasing bandwidth capacity is also supported by Biznet coverage expansion, since Biznet has recently announced its massive expan-sion and now Biznet network’s coverage is available in more than 70 cities throughout Java, Bali and Sumatera Islands.

With a reliable technology and supported by strong backbone with Fiber Optic network, Biznet believes that the compa-ny will be able to give the best and improved service quality for business and consumer segments.

Mainboard-listed ISDN Holdings on Friday said it is on track to developing the 9.7 megawatt (MW) Datara mini-hydropower plant in South Sulawesi, Indonesia.

Its recent ground-breaking ceremony was attended by officials from the local Gowa district government - the project's joint venture (JV) partner. The district govern-ment, through its holding company, Gowa Perusda, owns

20 per cent of the JV entity while ISDN through its Indonesian unit, PT SDM, owns 49 per cent and a local business partner PT Bukit Lau owns the remaining 31 per cent.

PT SDM will offer support in financing and building the infrastructure, while the Gowa government will help in the necessary land acquisition as well as the obtainment of the relevant permits and approvals, such as the in-principle approval

and location and environmental clearance permits.

The Gowa government also had to garner acceptances from the larger Gowa community - partic-ularly the villagers whose land was affected as a result of the developmental work - and ensure that they were duly compensated, either monetarily or with land or paddy field substitution.

The mini-hydropower plant is

expected to take 18 to 24 months to complete and is estimated to cost US$20 million to build. It will be funded by debt and equity financing.

Based on the new upwardly revised tariff rate of 1,290 rupiah or 9.7 US cents, it is expected to generate annual revenue of US$5.3 million. The running costs are expected to hover around 0.5-0.7 US cents per KWh.
