We would like to thank all those who assisted us in serving during the “Adiestrados para la Excelencia”. It was a very successful event in which 3oo church leaders came together to learn new ways of making an impact in their local communities.
We currently have two accredited Spanish Seminary courses in progress and if you are interested in our next session, it will commence in January of 2011. Along with our Spanish courses, we will have an English Seminary program in the City of Norco. For more information please call our office.
We are always looking for churches who are interested in assisting us with new church starts. Please be in prayer as the Lord continues to provide us with these exciting opportunities for new ministries.

What is Effective Leadership
“But Jesus called them to Himself and said, you know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them. Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave — just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many." - Matthew 20:25-28 (NKJV)
After more than 40 years of direct contact with both effective and ineffective leaders and being in leadership positions myself, I have learned a few important lessons.
What Leadership is not: Leadership is not doing all the work yourself. It is also not directing others through their day by day routines, overseeing their responsibilities. Finally, leadership is not accepting the credit for what others have done.
Effective leadership is: Choosing teachable people with suitable potential for appropriate responsibilities. Training those se-lected in essential success oriented skills and spiritual principles. Assigning realistic, reachable goals. Making the condi-tions right for success. Developing a culture of responsibility using relevant, measured oversight that is pointed but not op-pressive. Allowing them to succeed. Giving them the credit.
Greetings in the name of the Lord! As always it is our pray that God is richly blessing your ministries for His
kingdom and glory. I was going to write an article with the purpose of encouraging your participation in our
“unique” Annual Meeting on November 6th. Of course we hope that you will attend as our Association is
trying something new when it comes to our annual meetings. However there was an experience that my
wife and I encountered this recent Friday that reminded me of why our 215 churches cooperate together to
reach the over 4 million people in the Inland Empire with the message of God’s redemptive love. Brenda
and I had just delivered some supplies to our Associational partnership, the San Bernardino Resource
Pregnancy Cetner. As we stood in the back of the building, I saw a young man in his 20’s, quickly walk to his car, jump in,
and start the engine. Behind him, slowly walking was a young lady in her early 20’s, and the look on her face, that I can sti ll
see in my mind, can only be explained as hollow and blank. She got into the car slowly and I watched her burst into tears.
Lisa the pregnancy center director confirmed what I feared; this young couple had just left the family planning clinic, located
behind the pregnancy center, where she had gone in to obtain an abortion. How tragic, in just a few minutes a life was lost
and her life will forever be impacted by a decision I am sure was made in great distress. While is it easy to judge and con-
demn, the truth is, someone needs to tell her of God’s love, someone needs to let her know there is hope and that there is a
God who forgives and restores like no other. She, and thousands others just like her all over the Inland Empire are the rea-
son that we partner together. Hopeless, distressed, making life choices that will forever haunt them and cannot be undone.
So many in fact, and scattered so widely that no one church can reach each and every one of them! The size of the task and
the need of those who walk amongst us everyday demand that as God’s people, we join forces as we carry out the Gospel
message in the very special and unique area in which God has placed us.

The Living Christmas Tree For 30 years Magnolia Avenue Baptist Church has brought the Living Christmas Tree to the community, church family, and friends. This year promises to be “one of the best.” Nostalgic familiar songs will be sung with our own Pastor Montia Setzler singing “I’ll Have a Blue Christmas Without You.” Our youth choir will sing a fun song with their puppet friends on our 20 foot tree with over 20,000 lights. We’ll have characters dancing, couples doing the jitter bug, and choreography to entertain peo-ple of all ages. The Adult Choir of 80 singers, 30 voice Children’s Choir, 70 voice Youth Choir, and full orchestra, will bring the message of the Christ child in song and drama. Make this a family tradition!

TRANSFORMED
Now is the time to register for the upcoming conference that promises that you will “get on fire for God.” I have heard Ray Comfort before and I believe that those who attend will definitely come away more committed to Christ. The event is free but you are asked to pre-register at www.livingwaters.com. As of Wednesday, October 20th over 700 had registered. We expect that all of the seats will be taken so don’t wait too long. The event will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Immanuel Baptist Church, 28355 East Baseline Road in Highland. It will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 12:30 p.m. If you would like some flyers I still have plenty left, so just contact me and I’ll get some to you.
ADIESTRADOS PARA LA EXCELENCIA
We had a great time at our 11th annual Hispanic training event. There were about 275 in attendance. Seventeen conferences were offered and Dr. Fermín Whittaker was the keynote speaker. We want to thank Pastor Montia Setzler and the Magnolia Avenue Baptist Church Church for hosting the event. A note of thanks must also go to all of the conference leaders, who did a great job. I appreciate all of those who served on the support teams: Primera Iglesia Sierra Vista, Jesse Pineda, Pastor, took care of the conference support; Mt. Calvario, Rialto and Pastor Moises Gonzales prepared the breakfast and breaks; Primera Iglesia, Moreno Valley provided the lunch and Pastor Julio Sandoval and the folks from Iglesia de Fuego en Cristo in Grand Terrace did the registration. Thanks to everyone who had a part in making this event a
success. Florina Jimenez of Las Vegas, Nevada received a $50.00 VISA gift card for giving us her contact information. SUNDAY SCHOOL DIRECTOR’S MEETING All Sunday School directors (and anyone else who is interested) are invited to our next meeting scheduled for Tuesday, November 9th. We will meet from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the associational office. The topics that were requested are, How to Enlist Workers and How to Study the Bible. Refreshments will be served.
Calendar change: The Minister’s of Education luncheon scheduled for Wednesday, November 3rd will not be held. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Lakeshore City Church
Church in the Spotlight
ZerOed In On Missions
Lakeshore City Church started in Corona on Easter of 2009, by Pastor Charlie and his wife
Louise. Their intention was to reach their unsaved family for Christ while meeting in their
backyard. In the process the church started growing and moved to a small building where
they could meet on Sunday nights. Along with being the pastor at Lakeshore, Charlie and
his wife also own a logistics company. He previously served as an associate pastor for 7
years at a church in Irvine. Lakeshore has a passion to follow the example of Jesus Christ so that they can seek out
and save the lost. As they lead people to Christ, they also want to develop their faith so that they can become fully
devoted followers to Christ. The lakeshore goal is to create a church based on the church in the book of Acts, and to
be able to meet every need. One of the ministries that God has blessed Lakeshore with is an amazing worship team.
The team is now in the process of creating their first album, and they also travel and do
outreach to schools, other churches, and many events. They will soon be playing on the Air1
stage. Lakeshore is also very passionate about their marriage group that now has 12 to 18
couples. You can keep Lakeshore Church in prayer as they need more leaders in the church.
Also pray that they will be able to find a building to meet in so that they can start Sunday
morning worship to go along with their Sunday night worship.
Corona
Gracepoint Riverside Church
Gracepoint Riverside Church started in June of 2010 in Riverside. The Gracepoint Churches have started 6 churches; with the mother church located in Berkeley, California. Pastor Steve and his team of 13 moved out to Riverside from Berkley with the desire to reach out to the students of UC Riverside. Their goal is to have an Acts 2 church for the UC Riverside students to attend. Before moving to Riverside, Steve worked as a Release Engineer for 10 years and attended Gracepoint Berkley working in the College
department. When presented with the opportunity to start Gracepoint Riverside, Steve and his wife were eager to help because they have always had a passion for college ministry. Gracepoint Riverside is one of 3 churches that the Gracepoint network has started this year. One of the strengths of Gracepoint Church is the ability to work as a team. They are college focused, and do regular weekly activities on the UCR campus. One of these activities is a weekly Bible study called acts2fellowship. You can pray for Gracepoint Riverside as they work with the college students and continue to pray that the hearts of the students will be open to God’s
Word. They are reaching a wide range of students, from unchurched to students who have a church background. With the high statistic of college students with church backgrounds leaving their faith, Gracepoint wants to help students remain faithful to God and continue their relationship with Him. Pray that Gracepoint will be used to accomplish this goal, and that they will continue to reach and to teach the students of UCR.
