The Service will be held at the Silver Lake Presbyterian Church this year, because the Service was called off because of bad weather last year. St. Brigid Parish will provide the guest homilist. ST. BRIGID PARISH TURKEY PARTY

St. Brigid Parish Annual Turkey Party will be held Thursday, November 20th at 7:00PM at Neumann Hall, Choconut. All our Parishioners are asked to turn out in support of this important fund raiser. Posters are available in the vestibules of the Churches, please take some and place them in businesses that you frequent.

BAKE SALE St. Brigid Altar & Rosary Society will sponsor a BAKE SALE at the Turkey Party, Thursday, November 20th, at Neumann Hall. All bakers are asked to bake their favorite “goodies” for the occasion. Please price your items. Thank you for your help and cooperation!

THANKSGIVING GIFT CARDS AND/OR FOOD PANTRY If you know anyone who needs a THANKSGIVING FOOD BASKET, please call Rosalynd Perlick-Spencer (570-663-2212), as soon as possible. Donations of turkeys or money to purchase turkeys would be appreciated. We also have (14) area families ranging in size from 1 person to 5 people, on our list to receive FOOD CARDS. If you know of anyone that needs help, please let us know by November 17th. If you have put someone on the list in the past and they no longer need help, please let us know. Donations are needed by November 17th. All donations for FOOD CARDS or TURKEYS for the FOOD BASKETS should be put in an envelope in the collection and marked “Attention Kay”. All donations are greatly appreciated.

SPECIAL COLLECTIONS FOR THE CHRISTMAS SEASON

Our Parish is participating special collections for the upcoming Christmas Season. We ask for your help in reaching our goals for these collections.

The first is collecting 250 boxes of Hot Chocolate Mix for the Susquehanna County Christmas Bureau. This group provides the ingredients for Christmas Dinner for low income families in Susquehanna County. A box is in the back of the Church for these donations. The deadline for donations is Monday, December 8th. (Hot Chocolate Mix is available at the Dollar stores at better prices than the grocery stores.)

Second is to collect men’s and women’s disposable razors to go to the St. Francis of Assisi Kitchen in Scranton. These are added to shoe boxes full of other toiletry articles given to guests at the Kitchen. These donations are needed by Monday, December 1st.

FREE FOOD DISTRIBUTION VIA THE WEINBERG FOOD BANK

This free food distribution for those in need is for RESIDENTS OF SUSQUEHANNA COUNT ONLY. Any resident of Susquehanna County who needs food is welcome. Distribution will be held TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 18TH, from 12Noon to 2:00PM, and 5-7PM at the Little Meadows United Methodist Church.

A Door Décor Wreath Festival & Raffle will be held to benefit Mom’s House, CHOW, and Rescue Mission. This benefit will be held at the Oakdale Mall Center Court, on Saturday, November 15th, from 9:00AM to 9:00PM and Sunday, November 16th, from 11:00AM to 6:00PM. Tickets are $ 1.00 each. $ 5.00 for 6, $ 10.00 for 12, $ 20.00 for 24 and $ 50.00 for 75. Winning tickets will be drawn on Sunday at 4:00PM. When you support the Annual Appeal with a sacrificial gift, you join with the faithful in 120 Diocesan parishes whose gifts will lovingly and generously respond to the needs of God’s people. Prayerfully consider your Appeal response. Our Parish Goal is $ 24,000.00. So far $ 13,006.00 has been pledged, leaving us under our goal by $ 10,994.00.

RETREAT: LIVING WITH AN ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE Sister Mary Beth Makuch, SS.C.M., will present a session entitled, “Living with an Attitude of Gratitude”- learning the art of living gratefully; realizing everything is a gift from our Generous God as we in turn become a gift to others at a retreat for women to be held at the Oblates of St. Joseph’s Seminary, 1880 Highway 315, Pittston, on Saturday, November 15th. The retreat is sponsored by the Scranton Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. All Catholic women are invited. Appointed Delegate for Consecrated Life by Bishop Bambera in 2011, Sister Mary Beth Makuch, SS.C.M. is a member of the Congregation of the Sisters of Saints Cyril and Methodius. She served in the Archdioceses of New York and Chicago, Dioceses of Bridgeport and Harrisburg. Sister Mary Beth has ministered in the Diocese of Scranton since 1992. She is the Coordinator of the Ministry with the Deaf and Persons with Disabilities. The day’s events will begin with attending the regularly scheduled 8:00AM Mass. Coffee and snacks will be available during registration. President Mary Lloyd will preside at the opening of the retreat and introduce the Commission Chairs who will present information on the various activities underway. Election of SDCCW Officers will take place. A light lunch will be provided, and the retreat concludes at 1:00PM. Pre-registration is preferred.
