Thomas— one year notice required Schools – Sacred Heart, Langton - St. Michael’s, Walsh - Our Lady of Fatima, Courtland ____________ FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK: There was a man who had four sons. He wanted his sons to learn not to judge things too quickly. He sent them on a quest and wanted them to go and look for a pear tree that was far away. But he sent each of his sons in a different season. The oldest son went in winter; the second went in spring, the third in summer and the youngest one in autumn. Aſter all of them returned from their quests their father gathered them to listen to their experiences. The oldest son told him that the tree was roen, ugly and dead. The second son disagreed and said that the tree looked beauful and fresh with all the green buds. The third son also said it looked stunning with all the blossoms. And the fourth one disagreed with all of his brothers saying that the me he reached the tree it was loaded with sweet and ripe fruits. The man told his sons that they were all right about the tree because they saw it during different stages of its life. He told them to remember this experience and never judge a person by one season of his/her life. And he also told them not to judge a person’s emoons only based on one occasion. Our life is a mixture of four seasons that change as me passes by and it is a mixture of emoons: love, hatred, joy and sorrow. A person’s life can only be judged if you are familiar with all four aspects, but that is almost impossible. Never point fingers when you’ve only heard one side of the joy. We can learn another lesson from this story. If you give up this winter, you will miss the promises of your spring, the beauty of your summer and all the fulfillment from your autumn. One challenging season will not decide your enre life. One day your flowers will blossom too and you will get back on track. Never allow one difficult season to decide the fate of the rest. The temple was the very heart and soul of Judaism. Palesne was occupied by the Romans. The Jewish people had no real government of their own. So their whole naonal and spiritual identy was poured into and represented by the Temple. The Gospel says it took forty-six years to build this temple. As the followers of Jesus were admiring this Temple, the Lord says to their shock and horror that one day this temple would be destroyed. In fact, the only part leſt standing today is the “wailing wall” which devout Jews revere so religiously. Jesus says that the Temple would be destroyed, “But”, He adds, “that’s not the end of the world!” We all have our temples on which we rely for security. Not all temples are built of marble and gold. For some people a relaonship can be their temple. A marriage can be their temple for some. A career or a program with which we’re involved can be our temple. Our prosperity can be our temple, the things of which we are proud and on which we rely for strength. Then, one day, our temple is gone and what do we do? The Lord is saying to us today, “That’s not the end of the world!” The future is not shaped by those who keep looking back to weep over what is gone. It belongs to the person with faith, vision and confidence in God. When our temples fall down, the Lord is telling us in today’s Gospel that this is not the end of the world. This Gospel is a word of hope for any crisis. We always have a new future to build in Christ. “GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!” Fr. TUNE IN TO MENTAL HEALTH Anxiety, stress, and depression are on the increase in the lives of the young people we encounter and we are often challenged with the task of supporting not only the teens but their families and friends. To help us maneuver this increasingly prevalent issue, the Family and Youth Ministry office is bringing in licensed counselor, award-winning author, and devoted Catholic speaker, Roy Petitfils. Roy will offer a daytime event for parish and school staff, volunteers and others who are dedicated to the wellbeing of young people providing them with insight into the best way to support struggling young people and their families. In the evening, he will offer a shorter presentation for parents and others on the same subject. We are offering two options in two different locations to best serve everyone in the diocese:
