To: All Pastors; All Parishes; All Schools From: Father Robert Hughes, V.G. Date: November 6, 2020 RE: Black Catholic Apostolate and Racial

Justice Commission This week’s Catholic Star Herald reminds us that November is National Black Catholic History Month. Bishop Sullivan has asked all to be informed that with the appointment of Father Vincent Guest as pastor of Sacred Heart Parish, two additional responsibilities have been entrusted to him. Given the important presence of Saint Bartholomew Church in Camden and as part of Sacred Heart Parish, Father Guest has been asked to serve as moderator of the Black Catholic Apostolate for the Diocese of Camden. Together with members of the Black Catholic Commission, the Apostolate will be responsible for celebrating the rich history and traditions of Black Catholics in South Jersey. The Apostolate will seek to gather Black Catholics from all parishes to devise a program of evangelization and outreach in the hopes of growing the number of African Americans who profess the Catholic Faith. At the same time, Father Guest has been asked to reestablish and coordinate the work of the Racial Justice Commission of the Diocese of Camden. The Racial Justice Commission will work with parishes and schools to provide programs and activities that seek to overcome divisions caused by racism and prejudice. ******************************************************* Dear God, Instruct me in your ways. Send your Holy Spirit to enlighten me. Christ, Your Son, has taught us to love and serve. In response, I offer myself to you. Prune me that I may bear greater fruit. Let me be your disciple: Emulating the humility and service of Mary-the first Disciple and our Mother. Amen *******************************************************

Assumption Regional Catholic School Dear Friends,

Peace and All Good! In today’s Gospel, we are reminded that our talents and abilities have been given to us by God. These are to be used to make the world a better place. Generosity, which is our virtue this month at ARCS, calls us to use our gifts and talents in service of others. We are to be generous with our time, with our talents, and with our love. Unlike the one servant who hid his talents, we should grow them regularly! Throughout this week, think of the gifts that you have been given by God. How can you use them to serve God and neighbor? We have begun our 2nd Marking Period and are extremely grateful that our first nine weeks of school went so well, especially in these COVID-19 days! Our 4th Graders gave their saint presentations in church on Friday, and they were AWESOME! This week, Student Council will be sponsoring our annual food drive for our St. Vincent de Paul Society. We will be having our Thanksgiving liturgy on Tuesday, November 24 at 9:00 AM. Father Ed Maher from St. Thomas the Apostle will be our celebrant, and 4B is planning the liturgy. Grades 3 – 5 will be in attendance, and the rest of the school will participate through live-stream. The 2020 ARCS Virtual 5K Turkey Trot will be held from November 23 – 29. This is a great way to get exercise during Thanksgiving Week and to support our students. If you would like to participate, please visit our website (arcsgalloway.org) and click on the Turkey Trot link. Thank you! Believe it or not, we are already beginning to plan registration for the 2021-2022 school year. If you or someone you know is interested in providing your/their children with the gift of a Catholic education at ARCS, please contact Cathryn Flammer at [email protected]. You will not be disappointed! We are grateful for the countless ways that you support the ministry of Catholic education at Assumption Regional Catholic School. We are most grateful for you! With deep and abiding gratitude,

B. Joan Dollinger

Festival de los Arboles

Me acordaré de ti y cortaré mi árbol, Una estrella resplandeciente sobre la rama más alta;
