The holidays are over and Hanukkah is still far enough away that, for a little while, we can put off thinking about preparing for it. November is a great month to spend a little time hav- ing fun or learning something new – which, of course, can also be fun. At the Hebrew Educational Alliance we will be starting classes on Sunday mornings on “Jewish Meditation and Biblical Texts”, and “Inspired Jewish Living”. On Monday nights David Brandt Finnell will help us explore“The 10 Commandments”. There is no charge for either of these classes. Our weekly Wednesday “Lunch and Learn” short story discussions continue. If you are in the mood for fun and games, feel free to drop in on the Mah Jongg games at the HEA on Monday nights and Wednesday afternoons. There are also other interesting programs happening within the Jewish community. On Tuesdays you can attend the weekly series Before the Mourning, running through November and sponsored by Jewish Family Services, Feldman Mortuary, Shalom Cares and Heritage Club Mountain View. Topics include, but are not limited to: “Philanthropy for Life”, “Organizing Your Legal Life”, and “The Heart and Soul of Ritual.” (See Feldman’s ad for full listing of dates and topics.)
