Recent popular and successful events include a late summer bus tour over Guanella Pass to Georgetown and Silver Plume and a West Side Denver history tour, led by Phil Goodstein, which featured many sites includ- ing the old BMH and Temple Emanuel synagogues, the Golda Meir House, the Jewish Orphanage for Boys, JCRS and Yeshiva Toras Chaim. In October, Encore sponsored an Ethnic Market Tour and shopping at seven different markets including Italian, Korean, Ukranian, Parisian, Middle Eastern, a deli and an English Tea Room. On November 14, Encore will be sponsoring a Chavurot Fair in conjunction with a dinner and Havdallah service which is designed to increase the number of Chavurot at Temple Sinai and to get more people involved so they have a better sense of community. In addition to Encore events, Temple Sinai also offers a variety of edu- cational programs. Every Thursday from noon to 1 p.m., “Lunch and Learn” presents an open forum on various topics lead by Rabbi Richard Rheins or Rabbi Jay TelRav.“Sinai Sundays”,beginning on November 8, will offer an exciting series of classes, including Hebrew I & II; The Bible After the Torah: The Prophets & Writings; Ruach! Temple Sinai Announces Encore

Wednesday, November 11Veterans Day Dessert ReceptionJoin us at a dessert reception to honor our Jewish war veterans. Guestspeaker will be Rabbi Don Levy who served twenty-six years onactive duty in the U.S. armed forces, the first 14 as a crypto-linguist inthe U.S.Navy and the last 12 as a chaplain in the USAir Force.Duringhis years as a chaplain, he deployed in support of Operation NorthernWatch in 2000 and in support of Operation EnduringFreedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2005 and 2006. From 2004 to2006,while stationed at RamsteinAir Base Germany, he covered all ofU.S. European Command as the only U.S. forces rabbi based on con-tinental Europe. He retired from the Air Force in 2008 and currentlyserves as spiritual leader of Temple Beit Torah in Colorado Springs.
