Dear Mr. Orchard/Property Owner:

On June 30, 2017, the Los Angeles City Council (City Council) declared the vacant lot located at 1622 E. 113th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90059 a Public Nuisance as the result of the presence of a homeless encampment, illegal dumping and overgrown weeds and other vegetation (Council File No. 17-0749).

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE, pursuant to the Los Angeles Administrative Code (LAAC) Section 7.35.2(c)(2), the Board of Public Works is hereby causing a Notice of Intention to Abate a Public Nuisance at a vacant lot located at 1622 E. 113th Street, Assessor Parcel Number 6069-022-020, Count of Los Angeles Assessor Map Book 6070, Page 22, Parcel Reference M B 5-165/166, Lot 30. The nature of the existing condition is the presence of a homeless encampment, illegal dumping and overgrown weeds and other vegetation. The type of existing condition is declared as a public nuisance.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE, pursuant to LAAC Section 7.35.2(c)(2) and (3), the property owner is hereby served and a demand to abate the nuisance or to cause its abatement is so ordered. Failure to abate the public nuisance may result in the City, or its contractor, to abate the public nuisance and the cost of abatement may become the personal obligation of the person or persons creating, causing, committing, or maintaining the nuisance and the owner of the property and, if confirmed by the City Council, a lien against the subject property.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE, pursuant to LAAC Section 7.35.2(c)(2)(E) and 7.35.2(c)(4), notice is hereby given that you may appear at a hearing before the Los Angeles City Council to present your testimony, appeal, and other evidence to show cause why the City should not abate the subject nuisance by its own forces or through contract. Therefore, the hearing shall take place at 10:00 a.m. (PST) on Wednesday, March 21,2018, at the following location:

JOHN FERRARO COUNCIL CHAMBER ROOM 340, CITY HALL200 NORTH SPRING STREET, LOS ANGELES, CA 90012

Pursuant to LAAC Section 7.35.2(c)(4), the City Council shall also hear any protest and opposition to utilize the City’s own or contract forces to abate the nuisance. The City Council, at the conclusion of the hearing, may order the Board of Public Works to cause the abatement of the nuisance. If so ordered, the Board of Public Works shall cause the abatement to proceed.
