Norton by Symantec offers a full suite of products designed to
protect computers and mobile devices. They have a long-
standing reputation in the industry.
Independent testing by AV-Test reported that Norton by
Symantec was highly effective at detection and treatment of
most threats.
Norton by Symantec gives a fully-featured protection including
automatic file back ups to a device or the cloud, as determined
by the user.
The Bad
Norton by Symantec has been anecdotally reported to slow
systems down or to miss certain malware threats.
Removal of Norton by Symantec requires more than the
computer’s add/remove software tool.
For full protection for multiple devices, Norton by Symantec
offers a more pricey product – Norton One. This product
covers multiple devices and includes virus removal, unlike
some of Norton’s products.
Norton by Symantec offers a comprehensive suite of products, but not all are created
equal. Some don’t even address virus removal. Customer support is tiered by levels
and for premium (expedited) customer support, customers must pay additionally for
the service in their subscription.
For those comfortable with Norton by Symantec, this product works, but for those
who are looking for straight-forward virus removal, this product may not fit their
needs adequately.
