Safety Schemes in Procurement
Who is registered with a 3rd party H&S assessment scheme e.g. CHAS, Safe Contractor, Safe Mark, SMAS, Altius, Eurosafe, etc etc?
Who is registered with more than one scheme? Who wants the hassle
and cost of registering more than once?
Who has heard of SSIP?
Common Sense Would Say
Why can’t we just have 1 scheme?
Common sense would say
Currently ~33 scheme members
All assessed to Appendix 4 of the ACoP of CDM 2007
Mutual recognition between different schemes to a Stage 1 assessment level
By joining JUST 1 of these schemes you can demonstrate H&S competence to Stage 1
Constructionline commitment
• Reducing Duplication Mission• Lobbying on your behalf
• Education & Promotion• Actively promoting SSIP
• We set an example by accepting an accreditation from an SSIP scheme in place of Constructionline’s H&S appendix
• Launch of Acclaim Accreditation; our new optional health and safety scheme which falls under the SSIP umbrella
What you can do
Buyers: accept H&S accreditations from schemes under the SSIP umbrella and communicate to your supply chain
Suppliers: You have a voice, if a buyer isn’t accepting SSIP - ask them why and let us know!
