If we all took a moment to think back on our cattle involvement, I am sure everyone reading
this letter could remember the time they first stepped on the green shavings in Louisville. Exhibit-
ing, selling, or watching - the North American International Livestock Exposition is an experience
not many forget. No matter how many times you have gone. As we prepare for the North American
Select Sale held in conjunction with the largest exposition of livestock in the U.S., we celebrate the es-
sence of the green shavings.
Once again, the Select Sale will kick off the open Simmental events on Monday, November 12 at
5:00 p.m. in notorious New Market Hall. The stage will be set with green shavings for the appraisal
of some of the finest Simmental genetics that breeders have to offer. The best and brightest stars are
able to shine at the North American, and we couldn’t be more excited to have the opportunity to
work with some of the greatest genetics to sell all fall - heck even all year!
I know I probably say this every year, but this years offering at the Select Sale is truly one of the
best. Breeders from across the U.S. have dug deep into their herds, their pens of breds, and their
show string of open heifers to allow cattle enthusiast to select from. Many of these bloodlines are
packed with purple banners - some that were won on these very green shavings of Freedom Hall. The
Simmental breed has been at the forefront of the attention of many other breeds in recent years, and
the popularity and versatility of the breed continues. We are always proud of past Select lots that go
on to take their place of glory in the ring. Allyson Ottensmeier purchased a female out of last years
sale that commanded attention and banners for her; along with Morgan Phillips whose Milestone
daughter has been in the winner circle many times. Also, Kellen Kemme and the James Walters
family won many championships with their purchases from the Select sale.
I hope that you will make plans to be with us during the Simmental events during the North
American Livestock Exposition and especially on Monday evening at 5:00 p.m. This is such an
excellent time to fellowship with other breeders, and we couldn’t be more happy to welcome you to
Louisville! If there is any way we can be of assistance to you prior to the sale, please do not hesitate to
contact myself, Drew, or Holli concerning this year’s offering. Of course, if you can not be with us,
we will be streaming live with EDJE Cast, so take time to register online. As you make plans for the
fall, we hope the NAILE event is on your mind! See you on the green shavings!

Hadden Simmentals Right to Love was a crowd favorite and high seller in the 2008 sale. After Queen Valentines show record being a North American champion and Denver champion, Right to Love had big shoes to fill. Right to Love went on to be the American Royal Champion female. After her show career, Right to Love developed into an impressive brood cow. The Valentine cow family is second to none producing elite genetics. In the sale ring, progeny, embryos and pregnancies have top the sales of Foundation Females, SimMagic, Cattleman’s Choice and the North American. Breeders that have purchased embryos out of Right to Love have been pleased with their offspring just ask Ryan Haefner at Hudson Pines and Craig McCullum at Circle M. Right to Love has been extremely successful in embryo transplant averaging 25 embryos. For any details contact Troy Hadden. Right to Love has been flushed at Preferred Genetics. BWL/SS/HS Sweet Lookin
Sweet Gem Family
Brandon Luebbe, Sloup Simmentals & HilbrandTalk about a stellar debut for Sweet Gem and her genetic abilities. Sweet Lookin is a long bodied, sound moving female that while possessing a real brood cow appearance does so with an extremely smooth made, attractive, overall design. Phenotypically you can’t really poke a hole in her and genetically she might just stem from what you could currently call one of the hottest cow families in the breed. Half-interest in her dam, Sweet Gem, sold in Louisville 2 years ago for $17,500. The prior year, full interest in her granddam, Miley Cottontail, was purchased by Sanders Ranch and Pine Ridge Simmentals for $30,000 in that very same ring. Fast forward to just 3 short years later and this past September Miley Cottontail was offered for sale once again, only this time when the gavel fell it took $45,000 to get !-interest and she’s now a member of the elite donor line-up at Sloup Simmentals. Sweet Lookin’s dam is a full sib to Hartman and Conley’s very popular High Voltage bull and the $21,000 SS/PRS Tailgater recently selected by Dunn Land & Cattle and Truasch Farms, IA in Sander’s 2012 Head of the Class sale. She’s also a ! sib to Lee’s popular Gunslinger bull and Ruth’s very competitive Cottontail heifer. Can you say HOT, HOT, HOT!!! The list of remarkable progeny and highlights could go on for quite a while if you went back just a couple more generations to the H25 cow and where it all began! This cow family has profit, performance and predictability written all over it. The now deceased BC Lookout has a reputation for producing attractive females that not only work in the show ring but also make exceptional cows. We absolutely love the way he crosses with our Simmental donors and when you get a chance to analyze this sweet lookin lady, I think you’ll see why!

HS Sweet Gem Embryos
Sloup Simmentals/Brandon LuebbeSelling 2 packages of 3 embryos guaranteeing 1 pregnancy if work is done by a certified embryologist. Choice of sire; Steel Force, Chamberlain or Lookout.Steel Force and Lookout require no introduction in the breed both being extremely sought after for their ability to produce highly productive, eye appealing progeny. Take a look at her heifer calf by Lookout in the sale and you can see the guesswork’s been removed as to how well that mating can work! We’ve been very impressed with both the consistency and reliability that we’ve gotten out of both of these sires in the past and feel as though the only deciding factor that might be setting these two matings apart is as to whether or not you’re looking for purebreds or percentages. Chamberlain, a high performing, soggy middle, "-blood Upgrade son out of a Traveler 004 cow, was the high selling bull in Steve Reimer’s 2011 production sale being selected by CK Cattle, Werning Cattle Co., Wager Cattle Co. and Eichacker Simmentals, all of SD. His first calves just hit the ground this past spring so you might not have heard or seen much out of him so far but based on how the few we have at home have been developing, I’ve got a feeling you’re going to start seeing them pop up this winter! Take one package or take them both, only one package per mating will sell, six embryos total. Guaranteeing one pregnancy per package if embryos are implanted by a certified embryologist.

Wright –Way SimmentalsSelling choice of 2 packages of 3 embryos guaranteeing 1 pregnancy per package, buyer is responsible for shipping unless prior arrangements are made. As you can tell from the pasture picture “Doll Baby” hasn’t missed a beat since she went into the real world of cattle production. She has flat out made friends everywhere she has traveled, she is admired for being tremendously big bodied, big hipped, stout, and easy-keeping. There have been many judges and breeders industry wide that have commented that she is perhaps the smoothest fronted, soundest, and most structurally correct Simmental female they have ever laid eyes on. I could write all day on her show ring success but most notably it was being selected as the Reserve Grand Female at the 2010 NAILE. It is just as fun to watch this female earn her keep in the pasture as it was to walk her in the ring. She has been DNA tested Homozygous Black and Homozygous Polled, so you judge which mating suits your operation whether it be the crowd favorite at the 2011 National Western Excalibur, the Cottontail son Gunslinger, they all compliment her and we look forward to the results of every mating. Feel free to contact Wyatt or Blake with any questions about this great genetic opportunity.

CLO SimmentalsCow families, cow families... it’s all about cow families. The best way to establish a predictable functional cowherd is to pay special attention to the maternal side of each individuals pedigree. Yippie brings it all together as she is double bred, line bred to the in comparable 107W family. Her dam was a NAILE class winner and reserve division champion in Denver. Her granddam is the unequalled WAR Diva (now deceased) dam of four national champion and many top sellers. 56Y has been described by those who have seen her as capacious, big ribbed, high volume, sound structure, big footed, feminine with an excellent hip and hind leg. This is a future donor in the making. To add to her value she sells pregnant to the popular sire of the 2012 Sweepstakes Champion Purebred heifer from Hudson Pines Farm, Shock Force. This should bring out yet another really superior cow family through Queen Sazerac. This is a can’t miss opportunity! 107W, WAR Diva, Ebony Antoinette, Red Jesse and Queen Sazerac... KA Cattle CompanyKA RHF Don’t Doubt Me comes from one of the most sought after cow families in America. It all started at the Triple C Dispersal when Triple C No Doubt (a full sister to Don’t Doubt Me) brought $38,000 sold to Moore Land and Cattle in IL. From then on fires started igniting everywhere. When FC No Wonder (maternal sister) was Grand Champion heifer at the National Junior Heifer Show we knew this family was only just beginning. Then, the maternal sister Triple C Lizzy cow started producing champions one after another for SVJ in PA. Then there was Triple C Opportunity, the winningest Simmental bull the past few years. (son of No Doubt) We are just starting to see the impressive calves out of No Surprise (son of a maternal sister) for the Lazy H herd in OH. As you can see the list goes on and on. Great cow families always do! Don’t Doubt Me (full sister to No Doubt) is perfect for the times. She is moderate framed, easy fleshing, big hipped, massive middled, super correct and with enough style to win any beauty pageant. She sells bred to the young phoneme bull Houston, which is siring 93% baldy calves that are simply stunning. We have waited patiently and watched Don’t Doubt Me grow and mature and are convinced NOW is the time for her to make her debut. She is simply breathtaking and the earning potential here is unlimited. Selling 100% interest and possession in this homozygous black donor cow prospect. AId: Houston, ASA# 2537200, on 4-17-12

Silverstone Farms & Carpenter FarmsIf you are a believer in cow families then 984Y should have your highest evaluation. Out of Denver and National Champion STF Dominance T171 and JF Ebonys Joy 612S. We selected Joy 612S as a new donor from Janssens as she was the highest selling female in their production in 2011. Her first calf shown was the American Royal Calf Champion for Janssens; which is a full sister to 984Y, She has perfect structure and soundness. I love how her neck and front comes out of the top of her should just like her mother and her grandmother the great Ebony Joy L123. Janssen Farm and GuthridgeThe phrase we shouldn’t be selling this one is used often. But I REALLY shouldn’t be selling this one. JF Miss USA was bought for my 7 year old daughter with the intentions that she could anchor her donor lineup by raising Simmental show heifers and crossbred steers and heifers. But as evident by the quality and success of the NAILE sale Doug is a hard guy to say no too. Miss USA not only looks the part of a future multi-purpose donor, but she is bred to be just that. Embryos stored at Sundown Livestock Transplants.Radience 13R was purchased at this elite sale in 2006, being one of the high sellers of that day. At that time she was described as phenotypically correct, sound, feminine and functional; a female of superior quality. Her EPDs were beyond breed average, her ultra sound carcass data, and her superb pedigree was making her a heifer to excel on all fronts! Her homo black, homo polled dam, “War Diva M704”, has never missed a beat being flushed successfully several times and producing many champions in the United States and Canada. Since our purchase in 2006, Radience went on to be the Canadian National Champion Female in 2007. The Hart family of Hart farms of SD in 2009 purchased a full sib to these embryos, “New Trend Way Cool 6W”. He is producing those stout, stylish, performance kind of bulls and has produced those keeper heifer calves that are proving to impress as bred heifers. New Trend’s full sister was Senior Heifer Calf Champion at Agribition 2009. She is extremely deep ribbed, nice fronted, sound in her make -up and displays an excellent udder, which the cow family is noted for. Radience has proved to be everything and more than what she was described when we purchased her in 2006! Massive, deep, long, feminine, and what a pedigree. Full sister to In Dew Time and Duracell. At the age of 5, she has already produced an outstanding show heifer by Star Player owned by Ashley Maass and Silent Night Farms of Texas. Two of her sons were top selling bulls at the Sunset View Bull sale in February, one being the Movin Forward son now owned by Maple Crest Farms, of Ohio and catching everyone’s attention. Two of her daughters by Movin Forward were to selling bred heifers at the Sunset View Production Sale in April of this year. “Honeydew T18” was pulled out of the field with her Star Player bull calf 30 days before the Kentucky State Fair, and was Grand Champion Cow. By the way, that Star Player bull calf has an adjusted weaning weight of 1,018 lbs. We mated her to K-Ler Make It Rain because of the outstanding heifers being shown by him that possess the prettiest front ends in the breed. “Honeydew T18’s” outstanding EPDs, bloodlines, and massiveness will complement “Make Its Rain’s” refinement. “Make It Rain” is homo polled and black, and “Honeydew T18” is homozygous polled and heterozygous black, so any calves will be black or black baldy and polled.

What a bright future she has, both in the show ring and as a donor. From the legendary cow family of H25, other famous relatives include Miley Cottontail and Elegant Force. Wright-Way SimmentalsKarma” made a lot of friends in her only trip in the ring, when she was a class winner at the 2012 Illinois State Fair. She is admired for being stout, sound, and having plenty of center dimension all tied together with a nice smooth front one third. Combine all her phenotype with the cow that stands behind her and you have a recipe for success in the ring and in the pasture. Karma’s mother in her first ET calf crop had 4 head from 3 different mating’s selected as class or division winners at the 2012 Illinois State Fair. U334 hasn’t missed a beat since being a division winner at the 2009 NAILE she continues to perform in the pasture. Bid and buy with confidence this female will make the Desa Rae family proud. Beckett CattleFrom day one this female has been a standout in the pastures and generated a lot of attention around our house. She has done all the right things as she has grown into a tremendous show prospect and has 4 siblings that you will see in the future. We were fortunate enough to purchase 12Z’s dam SS Babys Breath 333U at the Head of the Class sale a few years back with the Barbour family and it has been a success story to say the least. Her first calf, a heifer sired by Quota sold at the top of the crop to the Travis and Smith families of IL and is now in transplant for them. We have retained her second calf, a Quota bull that we have used in our herd. This year we hit the jackpot with 333U’s first group of embryo calves by Wide Open that will definitely leave their mark and 12Z is one of the leaders of the pack. She is a powerfully constructed female that possesses an abundance of muscle shape and depth of rib. 12Z is a show heifer deluxe that will demand attention in the show ring and go on to make a leading donor for her new owner.

Ryan Cattle Company158 is another Melody daughter that we were very hesitant to sell. We really appreciate this female for the skeletal dimension and extra width of hip she possesses. The Melody daughters have become cornerstone donors for many top operations in this breed simply because of their overer all do-ability, constancy and fertility. We feel this baldy out cross pedigreed daughter could have the brightest future of all them. Hege SimmentalsIt is with great anticipation that we offer this son of our foundation female, STF Shimmering Lite. We have been waiting for this opportunity to share her genetics with the rest of the Simmental breed and feel this Domination son can offer a great deal to his new owner. The mating to Domination was logical as it combined two of the best cow families in the breed. Domination being a son the great Caliente cow and a flushmate brother to the two-time NAILE champion STF Onyx. Shimmer also brings a lineage of great cows as she is a direct daughter of STF Miss LJ25 and granddaughter of the great Promise cow. Shimmer’s show career was also filled with banners as she was Calf Champion at NAILE 2008, Res Grand 2009 NWSS, 3rd Overall Junior National 2009, and Grand Female 2009 NAILE. The pedigree alone forces Yager Bomb into consideration but after seeing him, you won’t be disappointed. He is attractive in his design, busted open through his center body and flank, and drives off big feet and powerful bones without ever missing his step. Hege Cattle Co retains 1/3 semen revenue interest.
