Principal’s News We have finally reached the end of a very busy
term. It’s hard to believe how quickly the year has
flown.
We have celebrated Education Week, Book Week,
recognised our indigenous background with
NAIDOC activities and Stage 2 has enjoyed an
exciting excursion to Sydney.
On the sporting arena our rugby league boys
experienced an exciting morning playing at
Hunter Stadium, the netball girls had a great gala
day, Stage 3 experienced a taste of High School
by enjoying sporting galas and interest groups and
the whole school had a slice of tennis! Our dance
groups and choir performed at assemblies and
represented the school at festivals and Education
Week presentations.
Tomorrow we are hosting the Regional Spelling
Bee which many of our own student are
participating in.
And…. Of course all of our students had a
wonderful time performing at our Boscars concert!!
So, thank you and congratulations to our
dedicated, talented and now exhausted staff and
students. I would also like to thank the many
parents and carers who have supported all of the
activities mentioned above.
Please have a wonderful and restful and safe
holiday. I look forward to seeing you all again next
term.
We are having a very special day next term on the
28th of October by the whole school participating
in “A Day for Daniel”. This is a national day of
action to raise awareness about child safety and
protection. We will begin the day with a walk
safely to school activity and I have invited police
officers from the Education Unit to talk to the
children. More information will be sent home later,
however, I would like to give a special thanks to
Leigh Lovell for promoting this idea for our
students.
We are also introducing an exciting new system
into the schools called Flexi Schools which will
support the canteen and uniform shop. Parents
and carers will be able to order the food and
clothing ahead of time and without sending the
cash to school. Please see the information
included in this newsletter.
If you are looking at moving or you may know a
family that is moving into the area, could you
please contact the school as soon as possible. We
would like to begin organising our classes for next
year to help ensure a smooth transition.
Stage 3 Bathurst Excursion Final payments are due by
Friday 23rd September, 2016. Please keep payments coming in.
Please note the parent information night will be
held on 13th October NOT the 6th October as
written in the information sheet sent home.

Sizzling Starts I was pleased to see so many students submit entries to my Writing challenge. Congratulations to the
following students who received a Principal’s prize of a journal and a pen last week. I am sure will
enjoy reading their entries. The next challenge is to write a Sizzling Start or a Tightening Tension to a
stimulus picture of a Super Squirrel. The students have to try and make the reader laugh!
Keep writing everyone!

Help! What’s happening? The moonlight is blinding me. Hair is sprouting all over my body. Blood is pulling itself through my veins. The grass is whipping me on the back. The world is turning its back on me! I feel as though I have tasted the bitterness of death. By Hannah Year 4
Wow! I climbed up the ladder to touch it. It was shiny like a diamond. It was so high in the sky.
I am standing on the moon. It was so fun and so white and it was so cool!
By Ruby Kindergarten
I looked up and saw the moon shining brighter than ever. I saw the ladder shooting up into the sky until it disappeared. I started climbing and the moon got
brighter and brighter. I looked behind me and I said goodbye to my life. The bars got colder. I was nearly there. I shouted “yes!” I was finally there. “Yahoo!” By William Year 2
Wow! That ladder is so long. The space is black. The stars are white. I want to climb. I am too scared to climb that ladder. I want to go to the moon to catch the stars. By Kiara Year 1 I am a little scared. I mean it is not every day that you climb a ten mile ladder up to the
moon. Remember how I said I was a little scared, because I am not so scared now…. Because
I am excited! I can’t wait to get up there. Is the moon really made of cheese?
By Duke Year 3
It was sun-down and I was finishing up with my farm jobs, like every other day. I can hear and see in the distance, the trees waving around as the wind sailed through the broad leaves. When suddenly, out of the blue a long swirling and twisting ladder appeared in the middle of the wheat field, leading up to the bright rising moon. KLINK! I don’t know what has come over me? The tip of my shoe made the klinking noise each time I stepped up a rail…KLINK, KLINK, KLINK…. By Lily Year 5
Whoosh, whoosh, the wind blows in my face as my feet sink through the sand of White Haven Beach. My hair covers my eyes as I try to look at the view. But the wind is too strong it pushes me down to my knees. I close my eyes as the sand storm rushes past me. I open my eyes to find myself standing in a field of wheat. In the distance I see a ladder leading up to the moon. I walk over to the ladder, I start climbing, and my heart is racing faster and faster. My hands get blisters. My arms get weak and my legs drift off to sleep. Finally I reach the top. I see a hand that I grab to pull myself up. I have been blinded by the beautiful light of the moon. By Amelia Year 4
Whoosh, Whish! This feeling…it’s amazing. Oh! Look at that beautiful shiny silver object. It looks incredible. But what is that dangling from it? It’s wooden, with lots of square holes. And the silver thing is as shiny as the moon. But wait, is it the moon? No it couldn’t be could it? By Lucy Year 6

Junior Golf Clinic - Branxton Golf Club
Dear Parents,
Branxton Golf Club Junior Clinics resume after the
holidays on Tuesday afternoon 11th October, 2016.
We plan to start at 4:30pm, so if you could be there
at around 4:15pm to register and get organised that
would be great. Finishing time is around 5:45pm.
Children do not need any equipment unless they
have their own. They can bring them along. Water
and broad brimmed hat are essential.
Our clinics will continue each Tuesday until the
school holidays, Tuesday 13th December. If any
parents wish to help out it would be much
appreciated, but we do require a Working with
Children Check. Please see Mr J for details.
The cost will be $3 per week and parents are
welcome to use the club facilities at their leisure. All
money is used to maintain and upgrade our
equipment.
These are purely beginner clinics and we go through
the three main swings associated with the game of
golf. As the course remains open at this time we
need to respect and follow these rules. We expect
the children to listen carefully to instructions and be
respectful of the people volunteering their time to
assist the children.
We like to have little celebrations along the way so
there will be card for each child which will help us
register how many times they have been and we
can monitor their progress more closely. - Ta Mr J

FLEXISCHOOLS for P & C run canteen and uniform shop.
Online Ordering is starting Week 3, Term 4 – 24th October
Our school has now introduced a great new online ordering system for Canteen, Uniform and P & C
Fundraising called FlexiSchools. This system allows parents, students and staff to place orders from
home, work or school at any time. The payment is also done online, so less paper bags, cash, cheques,
and envelopes are sent via your student to school. As well as being convenient for parents, the online
orders are much faster and easier for the school coordinator to process - so it makes everyone’s life a
little easier. FlexiSchools is well established and tested, operating in hundreds of schools across Austral-
ia.
Getting online is easy and only takes a few minutes to register. From 24th October simply go to
www.flexischools.com.au and click “Register Now”. You will be sent an email with further instructions on
how to complete the registration. Once registered, you can start placing orders immediately. If you
have any questions, FlexiSchools provide a great help desk on 1300 361 769, or you can contact them
via their website.
There are a variety of payment options supported, including Visa, Mastercard (credit and debit) and
Bank Transfer. The system operates via a pre-paid account, so you no longer have to worry about the
manual process of sending payments into school, and you can easily budget your students spending
and expenses throughout the year.
If you have any questions about the online services we are introducing, please ask the school office for
more information.
