We urge all community members to seek advice and to get tested if you feel you or your child/ren have symptoms. Our local COVID Testing Centre is located at The Tweed Hospital (no appointment required - open between 10.00am – 6.00pm). In addition to existing personal hygiene protocols, social distancing of adults, and the enhanced cleaning already operating across our school, as of last Wednesday 19 August, we have placed inter-school activities on hold, and stopped singing and the use of wind instruments in our school. So sadly, this means no more choir or recorders! We have also employed measures to limit the mixing of groups of students. This means that while students will continue to work with their classmates in the usual learning programs, we will limit interactions of students from different grades and stages where appropriate. We thank you in advance for your support and cooperating with us in implementing these changes. SASS Recognition Week This week is SASS (School Administrative Support Staff) Recognition Week. This gives us an

opportunity to recognise the hard work that every one of our school support staff does for the

students in our school. Bilambil Public School is one of those places where we all stand side by

side and work together to achieve the very best outcomes for all of our students, and this is

made so much easier because of our hard working team of non-teachers.

Thank you to Thembi, Lorraine, Kelly W, Denise, Adele, Trina , Danielle, Michele, Kylie, Kelly L, Bill,

Dave, Gavin, Donna, Allan, Chris and Troy. These people work tirelessly every day they are here

at Bilambil to help your child in a myriad of ways. You might like to pass on a note of thanks via

your child or email, or speak to them sometime during the week if you have the need to call the

school to show your appreciation for the work that they do. Even the smallest amount of positive

feedback goes a very long way.

On behalf of all of the teaching staff and students here at Bilambil PS, I would like to thank all of

our amazing SASS members for the wonderful job they do.

COVID-19 UPDATE – Advice for Families NSW Public Schools continue to be safe learning environments which operate in line with the

advice of the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee and NSW Health. Here at Bilambil

PS, students are encouraged daily to ensure they are mindful of good hygiene practices, with

hand washing and sanitising resources readily available in every classroom and teaching space

across the school.

All students should be learning on site and in their classroom with peers, unless they have a

medical certificate to support their absence. However, parents and carers are reminded that

students should not attend school if they have flu-like symptoms. These may include, but are not

limited to fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose, headache, muscle or joint

pain, loss of taste or smell. Due to the low rates of influenza currently circulating in our

community, we must take symptoms seriously. Where students and staff are absent from school and a COVID-19 test is recommended, you are required to provide a negative COVID-19 test

result to the school and be free of flu-like symptoms before returning to school. We urge all

community members to seek advice and to get tested if you feel you or your child/ren have

symptoms. Our local COVID Testing Centre is located at The Tweed Hospital (no appointment

required - open between 10.00am – 6.00pm).

In addition to existing personal hygiene protocols, social distancing of adults, and the enhanced

cleaning already operating across our school, as of last Wednesday 19 August, we have placed

inter-school activities on hold, and stopped singing and the use of wind instruments in our school.

So sadly, this means no more choir or recorders! We have also employed measures to limit the

mixing of groups of students. This means that while students will continue to work with their

classmates in the usual learning programs, we will limit interactions of students from different

grades and stages where appropriate.

We thank you in advance for your support and cooperating with us in implementing these

changes. They are in line with NSW Health advice and are designed specifically to keep our

KISS and DROP School Pickup Zone In response to some traffic congestion issues during our end of day

collection of students at our Kiss and Drop zone, we have decided

to trial moving back the collection time for students in K/1/2 and

their older siblings by an extra 10 minutes. This will mean that

students will commence packing up to go home at 2.20pm and

start making their way to the Kiss and Drop zone.

Parents are asked to start arriving from 2.30pm for students in

Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2, but be mindful that it will

obviously be busy from this time and to consider leaving your

collection time until a little later.

Parents with children in Years 3/4/5/6 only are asked to arrive for

pick up after 2.45pm.

The decision to trial extending the time has been made to try to

limit the possibility of community members being fined by police or

council rangers due to blocking off through traffic. Please do your

best to not be in a huge rush to get here first to collect your

children from the Kiss and Drop zone or alternatively, park in the

Jets carpark and walk across the road to collect your child/ren. A

reminder to those parents who park and wait near the pre-school

to keep socially distant from other adults whilst you are waiting.

Fingers crossed that this new arrangement will ease some of the

traffic stress. This new system will commence from next Monday 31

August.

Kindergarten Tennis Racquets Gemma Eaton, Tennis NSW Coach of the year, and Kylie Hunt,

Tennis NSW Schools Coordinator, visited Bilambil as part of the

Tennis Australia Racquet Road show. 30,000 Kindergarten students

around Australia will receive their first

tennis racquet thanks to ANZ

sponsorship. All of our Bilambil Kinder

students were lucky to be chosen to

receive their own racquets this week.

This initiative to introduce more kids to

tennis comes as reports are continued

to be released about the declining

level of physical activity in children.

These racquets will help get kids

moving at school, home and in the

community.

Students also received a voucher for a

free tennis lesson at their local tennis

club.

We hope the students enjoy their

racquets. Happy hitting!

Thank you to the ANZ Hot Shots Tennis

program for donating tennis racquets

for every student in Kindergarten.

2021 Kindergarten Transition Program Unfortunately due to COVID-19 restrictions, we are unable to

run with our usual format for our Kindergarten Transition

Program that would have commenced this term. In line with

this, we are working on an innovative way we can “connect”

with our new Kindergarten enrolments and their families, so stay

tuned for further details to come.

While the kids won’t get to experience all that our school offers

by being physically here in the school, we are working on a

project to give the kids the chance to really see how a school

day runs and see a huge range of wonderful activities that they

will be involved in when they start school next year. This will also

provide much needed information for parents.

Please contact the school office to alert us of details of new

students planning to enrol at Bilambil PS for 2021 Kindergarten. I

am always happy to meet with new community members to

provide a whole swag of information about the amazing and

innovative programs we run here. Make sure you talk to all of

your friends and neighbours about the wonderful things that

happen here in our school.

Please call our admin office on 07 5590 7210 if you are

aware of any possible new enrolments for 2021.

The Chappy Chapter

School Yard Blitz The yard where Stage 3 sit

Has changed quite a bit

Digging the grass and dirt

So far, no one has been hurt

There’s been some change to

this yard

The students have mostly

worked hard

Sometimes it just gets too

much

Look at the photos that say as

such

Still, we’ll be finished this year

And I can hear the mighty

cheer

A vege courtyard where they

can eat

A place that’s nice and neat!

Netball Court This has been marked out by

the students as part of our

maths lesson on measurement.

We had to use conversions,

know how to read tape

measures, learn how Gav used

Pythagoras’ theorem to make

sure the corners are square,

and then spray out the court.

By the time you are reading

Tuesday, 1 September We have organised some great gift ideas for our Father's Stall

next week so don't forget to send your child in with a little bit of

money so they can go shopping in the school hall with their

class. We hold this event every year purely because of the joy it

brings the kids when they get to pick something special for their

dad, step-dad, grandad or other special someone in their lives.

Gifts are good quality and range in price from $3.00 -$6.00

Teachers would be grateful if Kindy kids could pop their money in a zip lock bag with their name

on it.

Which Class Will Win? This is the last week for students to bring in their small silver coins

for our 5c Drive. Collection buckets are in the classrooms and a

couple of classes are looking set to take out the canteen party

prize that is up for grabs. It's not too late to clean out your

change tins and scour the floor of the car to top up your class

bucket. Pizza, Cupcakes or Ice Blocks will be handed out to the

top three fundraising classes. All money goes to support our P&C

projects .

Need Uniforms? Kids just never seem to stop growing! If you need some new uniforms don't forget you can still

place your order and pay online to have your order sent home with your child. Unworn and

unwashed clothing can be exchanged if you find you ordered the wrong size.

www.bilambilpc.org

Want to Help Out? We know many parents want to help but current restrictions has

limited many opportunities to do so. We would love a couple of

additional volunteers to help process our uniform shop orders,

and/or to help with our Tuesday morning school banking

program.

If you'd like to know more please contact us via the Bilambil

P&C Facebook page or phone Belinda on 0404 013 085.
