HOLIDAY BREAK
THANK YOU As we head into the upcoming school holiday break, we take this opportunity to
acknowledge and thank our community for its support and being part of the difficult
journey of navigating safely through unusual and challenging times. Our ability to
work together and maintain a safe, supportive and positive mindset and actions will
continue beyond term 3. The uncertainty can be frustrating, however the certainty
of our actions is critical.
GOVERNING COUNCIL LETTER Dear Parents/Families/Carers Of Fulham Gardens Primary School.
I am a Parent and Secretary of the Governing Council at this school and I am deeply
concerned about student and pedestrian safety during pick up time.
I have witnessed on more than one occasion parents or children nearly being hit by
motorists acting selfishly. The school has acted in the best interests of all students
by blocking off the staff and dental clinic carparks and staff supervising these areas
to prevent cars entering and exiting with little regard to those around them.
I realise it’s a minority who choose to disregard the rules. It only takes 1 careless
driver and we have a tragedy.
I’m not going to stand by and let that happen.
Staff has willingly come out to monitor the carparks and in turn cop verbal abuse
from drivers. This is not acceptable and the issue would be easily solved if everyone
was prepared to park and walk a short distance to meet their children.
As adults, we need to set a respectful and healthy example to our young people.
PLEASE, calmly park your car and walk into the school and greet your treasured
kids.
Let’s start afresh and do the right thing for our Children....we all have responsibility
in making our world a kinder and safer world.🙏
PASTORAL SUPPORT WORKER UPDATE. THANK YOU
A big thank you to Grange Baptist Church for gifting our children with an
opportunity to say thank you. Children were able to choose someone special to
give their biscuit to. It was the father’s day weekend and the special biscuits, if
they made it home could be given to anyone special. Mum, dad, carer,
grandparent or even a sibling. Sarah Anderson our pastoral support worker has
also been working with students across the school with friendships and
relationships. Sarah is with us 3 days a week and is building strong working
relationships with students and staff.
FACILITIES INFORMATION UPDATES Over the next couple of weeks, a new playground will be installed in the area next to
the oval and Japanese Garden. This will provide our older students with some
additional recreational opportunities to be actively engage in lunch and recess
activities. The design concept for this area was inspired by year 5/ 6 and 7 students
who were seeking alternative equipment to meet their physical capabilities.

R U OK DAY
IT DOESN’T TAKE
MUCH TO ASK
AND REALLY
LISTEN
You don’t have to be an expert to keep the conversation going when someone says they’re not OK. By knowing what to say you can help someone feel supported and access appropriate help long before they’re in crisis, which can make a really positive difference to their life. There are lots of free resources at: https://www.ruok.org.au/join-r-u-ok-
day along what to do after you have asked “R U OK?”
Listen with an open mind…...take what you hear seriously.
Encourage action…so there is positive action.
I think interoception is a really good thing especially
for R U OK day. I think it is because if you are not
feeling ok, you learn how to calm your body down and
be in control. London
I think it was great to celebrate RU OK DAY, because
if someone wasn’t feeling ok you could ask them. You
don’t have to just ask it on the day, you should ask it
all the time. You are showing that you are being
respectful and caring for them. You can even sit with
them to make them feel comfortable. If they don’t
answer, sometimes that can mean they are not feeling
ok. Anke
It is very important to check in on friends because
some people may not be OK, keep checking in and be
a good friends. Eve.
It’s really good to know what people’s feelings are to
see when they are and aren’t ok. So you can help
them Seb
IF THEY NEED EXPERT HELP Some conversations are too big for family and friends to take on alone.
If someone’s been really low for more than 2 weeks - or is at risk - please contact a professional as soon as you can.

Check In Pop a reminder in your diary to call them in a couple of weeks. If they're really struggling, follow up with them sooner.
You could say: "I've been thinking of you and wanted to know how you've been going since we last chatted."
It was a good day, because if someone was hurt you could check in with them and make friends with them William
ANOTHER SIMPLE MESSAGE IS IF U R NOT OK,
DON’T BE AFRAID TO SHARE THESE FEELINGS
