Home  Groups  We  currently  have  two  Home  Groups  meeting  each  week  –  on  a  Monday  

and  Wednesday  evenings.  If  you  would  like  to  join  a  group  please  speak  to  Rev  Sue  or  Rev  Christine  

about  it  so  we  can  be  sure  there  is  a  good  balance  of  numbers  in  the  groups.  If  you  could  host  or  lead  a  daytime  group,  again,  speak  to  Rev  Sue  about

Safari  BBQ  -­‐  Sunday  2nd  July  2017  Our  next  social  event  will  be  the  safari  BBQ.  This  is  a  super  occasion  when  we  can  get  together  to  enjoy  each  other’s  company  whilst  enjoying  a  barbecue

Our  annual  Memorial  Service  will  be  held  on    Sunday  16th  July  -­‐  4pm  at  St  George's  Church.    

All  are  welcome  to  this  service;  particularly  those  who  wish  to  remember  someone  who  has  died.  

Let  Hazel  or  Rev  Adrian  know  of  anyone  you  feel  should  be  invited  to  this.    And  please  invite  any  of  your  friends  or  neighbours  to  join  us  for  this  service.  

 

 

Would  you  ‘sponsor’  a  Bible?  Each  year  our  church  gives  a  Bible  to  every  child  leaving  St  George’s  

Academy  to  go  to  Secondary  School.  There  are  49  children  in  Y6  this  year.  If  you  feel  you  can  donate  something  towards  the  cost  of  this,    e.g.  £5,  £10,  or  the  full  cost  -­‐  £12.99,  it  would  be  a  great  help.

GLORY  OF  GOD  IN  THE  CHURCH  CONFERENCE  “Devotion,  Formation,  and  Mission”  

21st  September  2017,  St  John’s  College,  Durham  University  The  Glory  of  God  in  the  Church  Conference  invites  church  leaders  and  laity  to  join  in  this  inspiring  gathering  around  the  subject  of  divine  glory.  The  aim  of  this  conference  is  to  discern  and  demonstrate  how  God’s  glory  is  manifested

For  two  weeks  in  July  (starting  July  2)  and  two  weeks  in  September  (3-­‐15)  we,  The  Riverside  Parishes,  will  have  a  Cranmer  College  student  on  

placement.  Hello!  I’m  Al  Metcalfe,  a  Church  of  England  Ordinand  at  Cranmer  Hall.  I’m  39;  a  husband  (to  Sarah)  and  a  dad  (to  Connie,  9,  and  Reuben,  6)  and  we’ve  come  to  Durham  from  Manchester.  My  professional  background  is  as  a  writer  and  communications  specialist  for  mission  organisations.  But  I’m  also  a  musician,  worship  leader  and  songwriter  with  a  fair  amount  of  experience  of  church  planting.  I  enjoy  running  a  few  times  a  week,  mainly  in  order  to  compensate  for  my  love  of  good  beer!  I’m  so  grateful  for  the  chance  to  be  with  you  over  the  summer,  and  look  forward  to  glimpsing  some  of  what  God  is  up  to  in  this  new  season.  

Darlington  Area  Churches  Youth  Ministry  (DACYM)    Events  this  summer  

Sun  9th  July  -­‐  Breathe  Youth  Retreat  Afternoon  at  St  Anthony's  Priory  (in  Durham)  followed  by  the  PULSE  the  Diocesan  Youth  Event  at  Durham  Cathedral,  which  is  for  secondary  school/sixth  form  students.    Sat  15th  July  -­‐  Effective  Listening  Training  Course      In  September  DACYM  are  launching  the  Listening  Post,  a  listening  service  for  young  people.  The  first  part  of  the  training  takes  place  at  the  Mustard  Tree,  Hurworth  10am  -­‐  4.30pm  in  July.  There  are  some  spaces  available  for  those  18+  who  might  wish  to  develop  their  listening  skills  (and  possibly  volunteer  for  the  Listening  Post)  Sun  30th  July  to  Sat  5th  Aug  –  ‘Breathe’  Summer  Youth  Retreat.    The  annual  six-­‐night  retreat  for  secondary/sixth  form  and  University  students.  More  details  at  www.breatheyouthretreat.co.uk  Fri  8th  Sept  to  Sun10th  Sept  –‘Quest’  Activity  Weekend  at  Marrick  Priory.  This  will  be  our  4th  Quest  weekend  for  primary  school  pupils  in  school  years  5  &  6  (as  of  September),  and  those  who  will  have  just  started  secondary  school  in  Year  7
